I don't see any drivers put 3 wheels on grass or dirt to be faster (in real life)

Yestarday i begun to do all challenges following the line (or close) and keep cleen times. But after a cuple of hours i saw that everyone on top was cutting lol...

Doesnt make any sense criticize other people if the origin of the problem its PD and the sistem of DQ they gave us. :) I think its obvious that you wont drive in real life like you drive in GT5...(cutting, bumping..or even driving (high speed) always in the limit)

Just my 2 penny opinion xD

IMO, ANY contact with other car should give DQ

I agree in principle. The issue with that is the AI is fairly dumb, and can wobble on their line or just ignore your presence and run into you. So you'll be DQd through no real "fault" of your own.

The tests themselves should be better designed to prevent the need in the first place, and not to glorify "Kamikaze" moves. Racing isn't about heroics, it's about keeping your head together.

People will always push the limits/try there luck with rules in racing/any sport, it will never change, always people will try and find new ways to gain time and soon as somebody does it everyone else will , people having 2 wheels on the grass has been happening since year dot?? and it is not cheating.

Its not cheating, but i doubt anyone here would put 2/3 wheels out of the road in real life. :)

I think that its human to try and find ways to make things easier / faster /etc. So, i dont bother with that on GT5. :) I do the same (after)... in the end, GT5 its a game, and are people who dont care abaut the competition (be a real racing driver)... they only want to be in top.

I want the regional boards. :X

Save when it is Monaco - Sure cut the white line - See how the Armco Barrier leaps upon the "Gifter Hotlapper"
Watch in awe as the suspension arms are ripped from the chassis like legs from a spider held by an 11year old boy.

Why not put a few cones down? Can't be that hard, can it?

I had a good few attempts on the Nurb test and I gotta say there are some sloppy sods in the top slots 👎 I quit time after time passing the red silvia and never let it cross the line when i thought I had made a tiny contact even if I wasn't sure! It is GT academy after all...

Anyway my missus said she watched the top 2 fastest laps and sure enough both drivers make a tiny strategical hit on the red silvia at the perfect angle just like wall banging :grumpy:

This is pathetic! If you need to clip cars to gain speed then you are a garbage racer in my view and that goes for Amo and the current 1st place guy khmnt, and anyone else who wants to dirty drive there way into the top spots 👎

I've had my fill of this new breed of so called great racers with no class whatsoever and no self respect, bring back the old days of 100% clean racers at the top please as these guys are just desperate! The combo at the beginning says no impact with other cars so you just tickle it instead pffft what a load of cr@p!

We used to run people off the forums for wallbanging etc and these guys get all the eeks and bows as if they are amazing? hahaha what a crock :yuck:
Try rome and eifel and leave nurb...I knew that would happen so i didn't bother with nurb at all and why am I not surprised that it's amo doing car bounces....:yuck:

Had lot's of fun on eifel today and will give it some more time tomorrow aswell...

Hi my friends,

I for one am really disappointed that these tests have no interest...

I have not enjoyed a single event, the 2-4 on the mini Eiffel, I think this is the stage where the lap times can be further apart.

I must be second in '403 Takeuchi01 behind and even if I still have 1 tenth of margin that does not interest me to take my head for that...

Strongly the final round!

Good luck to all,
Yinato.

Is anybody else having trouble just playing this ******* thing!? Nothing is working, it's not updating the rankings it's not loading the next test, how the hell did anybody do them all!? I've been on it since half eight and only managed to do the first 3!

Your avatar matches your post so perfectly.

With regard to the issue, I did struggle with connection problems in the first few hours but I haven't had any since. If you have a slow connection that could be effecting it

Yep, I agree with Yinato.. those first 2 rounds were just ridiculous, just a case of golding it and getting through

1-1 should have been called - "How to press the throttle"

Same here Neal. I press something and it literally takes 15 minutes to load. It's the same with GT5 (atleast in that game I can play it offline though). Servers are appaulingly bad...ARGH.

I've just played the first two rounds, it's not lightning fast, but no more than a second or so delay.

There don't seem to be that many times posted though, from the first 10 challenges I only saw one time from a friend on any leaderboard, so I suspect it may not be updating very quickly.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it but I thought the intro video(s) is/are great.

"A year ago I was a student".

Great stuff. 👍

I'm pretty slow so my aim is top 5,000 overall and top 10 in my friends list in the early rounds and so far I am making that target (though I've only done round 1). Best of 1,720 overall and 2 in my friends list.

I expect I won't be able to keep that up as the rounds get harder but for now, for mr average, I'm pretty pleased. :)

[EDIT - working with OK speed here and seems to be updating as expected]

To be fair to PD though it does if you want to find the extra pace require some degree of precision!

Well i'm very happy for them not giving up on GT Academy, its a very awesome experience and should be done whenever they can.
Altough, i did not like this year "way on how it works" its too easy at least this two first rounds, and making us wait 2 weeks for another 2 rounds, which can be done in like 15minutes, and do not even count for anything rather than self-fulfillment is in my opinion the way they are gonna bring more people into this awesome event, that i think its the most awesome event in all console games.

My theory i think it would be better, is putting it all out with only X weeks for the all event, and people would only advance on a further stage if they would only complete the past event with gold, and once they made it all gold, time trial would become available. This would make people compete harder for something else than a few "licenses" that simply are "cheating" for first place lol
So this time, they should have made it different.

Still very awesome event and Props for GT5 group for keeping GT Acad. alive :D

i agree ... this is a training for those who never used gt5 and for us to climb to the top.. and be more perfect as possible ... said this... i prefeare the old gtacademy... but i like this the same... we must get golds and wait for june ;)

I got about 3000 - 3500 in the leaf rounds, the I got fed up of waiting for it to load.

Neal, sounds like you got a dodgy download. Try deleting it and re-installing, you shouldn't be waiting more than a few seconds.

Why would they do that?

Money doesn't last forever, if they don't have profit from this event, i would doubt that it could end, you have to think this is all about money, you are provide something by them, but if you don't get them some return of their investment i would bet you would be "fired" from the team.

Correct, the reason PD is organising this is not to keep us happy....it is all about advertising for NISSAN and for Playstation aswell. It is also known that one of the largest crowds is to be found in the GT5 community. For Example ; if 'Burnout' or 'Dirt' would be a huge game and GT5 a small game, then there probably would not be an GT academy, but we all would be playing Dirt Academy.

Whatever they do has a commercial twist about it, what is normal, as this is the way the world turns these days...

Nissan did not start the academy to surch for new drivers, this is a way of advertising, and a rather good one if you asked me, cause even in some countries the local press and TV have been reporting about this, what means more advertisement !! From the moment press would not be intrested in this anymore, you could be sure Nissan would not go any further with this...

I'd wager the nissan marketing reps are pretty smart cats, this thing looks very good for them. Besides, how much does it really cost? I mean, think about how much a single super bowl commercial is.

I just found it odd you decided they might have not held the event. Like hacking at windmills lol.

Ahahah, it wasn't i was just happy they continued it, not any special reason for it, but who knows, world economy isn't any wasy specially for automobile companies, and for nissan to keep this alive was just an awesome news for me.
It was just a commentary without any mean :P

Promoting the Nissan Leaf will of course be of a big financial benifit to them, if they sell saya 500 from doing this it will probably pay for itself. say £4000 profit a car then = £2'000'000 profit. I thought what a joke when i found out it was the Leaf being used in this but now it's grown on me and i can see how in next 15-20 years how this will probably be what a everyday family car will be like. Electrical motors are pretty powerful, i think the Leaf is something like 9-10 seconds to 60 which is what the same as most other family cars. Just not quite there yet in terms of value for money and practicality. (Top gear episode)
Although im still a proper petrol head and can't see me having anything Electric anytime soon! current car is a diesel and i hate it im going back to petrol soon as i sell it, nice to drive but just boring.
