Countries not involved in GT Academy show really slow times. Dudes! If you want PD keeps an eye on you, you should make it better ;)

Not sure about that. There are 7 Australians and 2 New Zealanders in the top 32 right now and none of them are eligible but they're doing pretty well

I would be gutted if that happened to me, you're a quick driver, I reckon if you crack on with it you can do it even with the DFGT 👍

As are you man, and the reason you aren't any higher in the rankings is because you're using a DFGT. Without the weight in the pedals, especially in this challenge, I can't see how I can improve.

Funnily enough, earlier when things weren't going my way I told myself nothing could stop me. An hour later smoke starts coming from the wheel.

Keep at it dessy you have it in you, even with a DFGT maybe just try it tomorrow see how you get on at least it still leaves a few days to get adjusted!

I am seriously considering investing in a G27 or something after this as they also have better force feedback and therefore more control. I should be able to get down to a low 31 with my DFGT though if i string my best sectors together it just takes a few more restarts.

Have you thought if anyone could lend you one for a short period of time?

Is that a TKM 4 stroke I see in your pic ?

Where I live with such short notice and so little time until the end I very much doubt I'll be able to get anything. All I can do is try with the other wheel tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks guys

Its difficult to acquire sim wheels in this country on short notice :ouch:

Whip out your DFGT, you can do it man.

I'm in still a similar situation as to before, cannot complete a fast lap. I blew a very good chance of doing a lap maybe good enough to qualify, in the .0XX but messed up the last corner and the annoying thing is I sort of had the car where I wanted it but got a bit greedy getting early on the power and messed it up. The others I messed up on second to last corner.

Did quite a lot of .3XX, hopefully I do a lap that is decent but might end up as one of the many "nearly" people.

Guys I have no idea what just happened, but within 15 laps of whipping out the DFGT I've gone faster than I have all week. I was so determined to nip this in the bud and get right into it that I just got in the zone and made it happen. For some strange reason I'm nearly finding it nicer to drive than the thrustmaster.

I know this all seems a bit odd but I am being genuine. All I can say is I'm very happy that I now have the chance to keep at this for the next few days!

Bungie strap to the rescue!

The DFGT was built for GT in mind so FFB is very good especially for getting fast lap times. G27 until recent update was a bit poorer than that. GT makes all input devices the same level of accuracy regarding throttle and brake input and resolution in the degrees of steering. The T500RS and the pedals might have been hindering you with the extra time it might take to go full on the brakes or progressing on power ;).

Dessy, thanks for the simple solution to make the pedals heavier! Got my first wheel couple of weeks ago also the DFGT and it's been doing my nut in how light they are!

Well that's gotta be the only explanation because I feel right at home with the DFGT. The laps seem a lot more effortless and overall everything seems to be a lot more certain than before. Think I'll be selling the thrustmaster once I get it repaired or replaced. The only reason I bought one was because I won €300 on a bet and decided I could do with a new wheel. That and the off chance it could be used at the nationals if I make it. Funny how things work out.

Damn Kaz is gonna cry cos Finland can't take part

No there isn't.
You must chose Global ranking I think :)

OMG how is that possible? Faster with a dfgt than with a t500? I bought a dfgt right before the gtacademy, just to learn how to drive with it in preperation for the national finals. I was really shocked how the pedals felt but thought its just a thing of adaption. So, the last days in Motegi my fastest lap was a 1.31.7xx.

Than i thought "Cmon, give your g27 a try and see how this worked out". And, *BANG* half a second faster in just 10 laps. Now down to 1.31.208. After that i didn't touched this "DFGT-Toy" again.

But if i will make it to the national finals now, i will be in trouble to drive the DFGT...:nervous:

I use a DFGT and was just reading all the comments above. I know the pedals are very light on a DFGT but it's the only wheel I've ever tried so I guess I've just got used to it. I did think of a possible fix for this problem though. I saw Dessy's ingenious "bungie" solution and it got me thinking. It couldn't be that complicated to open up the pedal assembly and fit some stronger springs, could it? I've never looked inside the pedal assembly on mine but, I can't imagine that it's that complicated in there. The pedals have to be on springs of some sort. Remove the springs and then go to a hardware shop or a car spares dealer, show them the springs, tell them you want some that are the same length only stronger. I'd try it myself but, I'm happy enough with the light pedals and I'm not gonna take the risk of messing up my pedals just to try this out.

Firstly I can't take credit for the bungie fix. It's a well known DIY modification that was discovered a few years ago and works a treat. I actually have two sets of pedals as when the clamps on my first DFGT broke. logictech sent me a new one, so I might open them up some day and have a look. Seems a bit more effort than its worth though.

I'm currently 633 at the moment in the UK. 5697 Worldwide. Thats on a Pad. Wish I could have had time to get a Steering Wheel. But next GT Academy I should be back Home in the UK anyways so I'll have a proper chance and getting stuck into it. Still pretty pleased with being so high up. I set that time the moment the event became available. Still top of the Leaderboards amoungst the 10 Friends I have who play GT5! :)

Im currently 5th in US and somewhere like 70th in world with a 31.210 and i have a DFGT i love my wheel, the times are definetly there with DFGT.

I'm gutted I haven't re invested in a wheel for this. I really loved putting times in on Montegi and for it to be the Qualifyer for this year It's an easy track for me to Learn and pick up time. So much more time could be made up with a wheel. Congrats ^

I'm like this... :banghead:

Stuck on 1.32.053 with a pad... Did a lap where i was 2cars behind eclipsi but then came the last corner... nerves toke over and i spun. :grumpy:

Next weekend i'll try "the shot".

ps. TOP 1 DS3 user in Portugal and 63th Worldwide :dopey:

Great time with the PAD zzz.

I'm currently 16th in Portugal with 31,660 , must improve until the weekend or else... ;)

Finally I got a good lap: 1.31.153. Currently 4th in Italy. My goal is 1.30.9xx...I feel it close, I can manage the 30.9 XD However, I would like to thank Tidgney for his great job with the video tutorial ;)

Great work Dessy I knew you had it in you :), especially when you put your head down to get that important lap :D!! 👍

I won't say 'I told you so' though ;)

Not gonna lie man, it helped me a too - mainly by reminding me to use time reference points. This is something I lived by for the last TT but since there are no splits in this one I completely forgot until I watched your vid. Us active steering folk have to use slightly different lines and techniques at certain points but overall it was a very good refresher. Fair play for doing it 👍

Fantastic lap Eclipsi!!!

For me I can do the 1'30.9xx but I made a lot of 1'31.2xx with a lot fo mistakes in all of my laps...

Sorry for my English.

I know, it's amazing what the time reference points can do, I mean I've developed a few more since to, but they help so much to perfect corners, nail sectors and realise potential gains and losses!! Fully expect to see you at the finals though mate :)!
