Thanks, that was a pretty nice feeling when I hit that lap.:sly:

I'm pushing for a 30.9 now but there's something special about GT academy that makes me not hit the laps as easy as I normally do. I hope we can push each other further and further. Good luck on trying to get that top 8 spot.đź‘Ť

Call me Wes.

I'm the guy on the 6th spot ;)

I just took 0.111 of my time, almost feeling safe for the finals looking at the progress of our fellow racers from spot 8 to 15.

I know.;)
But you still don't have it in your pocket. I know of at least 3 guys that can do a similar lap as mine. Whether they'll try to, I don't know.

Whehe, i know...davinci for example, this is the 1st time in history i'm in front of him :scared:

I've got time untill saturday afternoon to shave of a couple of tenths, saturday evening i'm dj-ing at a party and i know i won't be home untill somewhere sunday afternoon.

The suspence is killing me

I wonder what will be safe to be in top 16 of UK. I think Tidgney's time is probably borderline but I hope a time under .200 is enough as then I might make it. Might not have the time or mentality / skill to improve. The last corner can ruin so many good laps.

I thought a .1 would be borderline but watching the leaderboard develop it's not changing that drastically now. I'm not resting easy though I think a .0 or 30 is definitely safe, I want a 1:30 so I'll push for that on saturday, but I think a low .2 might be the borderline now for the UK at least anyway. One thing is for sure if your french you will definitely need a .1 I'm thinking the french board may even be a borderline .0!

I hope my current time is enough, will take a break until last day and if I have time, will try and set a faster lap.

Another of the "3" has stuck his head in the top 8, RawRespect :scared:
I have to adjust my cut-off prediction to 1.31.250 for Holland...

I think I should be able to make the cut, yesterday all fell into place with places I can still improve :dopey:

I've got my fingers crossed for that, although I'm currently aiming for a slightly faster time.

The other thing we need to look at is who is ineligible. As far as I can see Spurgy777 is the only one in the top 16. Then I guess there is a question mark over davissi and whether or not he wants to take part.

Pretty much everyone down to 24th has a good chance of improving and I wouldn't be at all surprised if someone like EDDSKILL pops in a time on Sunday to spoil someone's fun.

Small improvemt to a 01.31.335. I hope it'll be enough to stay in the top 8 because I haven't got time to play. Next and last try will be on sunday.

I'm starting to think it's just not meant to be for me this time. After starting so well and hanging on to 6th for a good bit of last week, I now find myself at the tail of the field after failing to nail any of my 'nearly' .0 .1 laps.

I was however very confident and sure that I would improve to a qualifying time tonight or over the next few days, until a few minutes ago. I recently got a hold of a second hand t500rs wheel. Just there, smoke started billowing out of it as it appears the internal fan failed and wasn't cooling whatever needed to be cooled. I turned it off immediately but I fear it may be unusable now. I won't have time to get it sent off and repaired, nor will I have time to dust of my DFGT and get used to it after spending a few weeks behind a wheel and pedals that are completely different. I really feel so helpless. There's no wildcard for Ireland either so it looks like I'm going to have to sit it out and watch as I drift down the table.

I'm not going to give up because I want this so bad, but I honestly have no idea how I'm going to make it now.

sorry for the problems my internet router has now broken and is being made to work with duck tape and a pound coin đź’ˇ

Can i ask what setting you were using with the t500rs its very heavy for me still not clicked with it
interesting to see what difference the wheels make cos we are level in sector 1 @34.1 etc still havent figures out how to get out of T6/T8 just losing lengths every time running out of time

Funnily enough, less than an hour after I wrote this, I went on to set a faster time with my old DFGT. I was extremely determined, but also the DFGT is more responsive than the thrustmaster so that could be why.

As for settings, I used FFB 7 and Simulation, which is currently what I'm using for the DFGT as well.

power steering on or off id love to try a dfgt back to back it T500rs is amazing but is it the fastest wheel it does feel fairly slow to respond in slower corners with the nissan

ffb 7 was on 10 now i am going to try 1

finished work now so three days to figure out how to get out of T6/T8 can't get a feel for this 2/3rd gear shift I just stay in 3rd @ turn 1

Will be fun to see if the final global top 250 will be inside .500 ..getting closer by the minute (.676 atm). Been watching from the sidelines and you really can see the difference when we've had the game for 1,5 years instead of a completely new 'game' for the academy (like in 2010). Much closer all alround as so many people already know the 'secrets' of driving fast in GT5. đź‘Ť

How would those that have competed in multiple GT Academy's rate this one in terms of competitiveness?

It's competitive alright :), I mean this is the most amount of competitors ever to take part in GT Academy?

On a note on my times I need to refocus my attention on that last corner, I am now nailing (Quite consistenly) 91mph before the cones on the chicane, and im full throttle onwards I gain a huge amount of time on the straights to from it (Been testing vs the ghost of Takeuchi).

If you can pull it off a .5 is possible, but to me that is a nerve wracking time!

Just improved to a .166, made a meal of the end of the lap so I'm pretty sure I can hit a .0 but hopefully that's enough to see me through.

EDIT: I also see David Kelly (Vibralux) has made an appearance. Was wondering when he was going to show up. He'll more than likely improve to one of the top times by Sunday night.

After only playing once in a week ive been cracking on last couple of days and just improved by 7 thousanths to a 1'31.189. Must of had 10+ laps were i fluffed the last corner for a .1 or better and plenty of .2 times. Also earlier messing up the last corner which probably if i nailed it wouldve gone fastest in the UK at the present, completly messed up and got a .237, the rest of the lap was pretty spot on, then when you do something like that it prays on my mind. Just a matter of doing a good consistant lap now pretty confident of geting a 30.8-.9 by sunday, just been making hard work of it i should already of secured a better time by now.
Extremly close on the UK leaderboard, im 0.031 off 5th, to be honest suprised im still in the top 10 a couple of names missing still.

Woah, seems like everyone from GTP is fast as hell :D I thought I did well today, improved from 1:31.908 to 1:31.612, currently gives me 10th place out of 16 in Poland. But then I came here and I got demotivated :D Anyway, I'm not registering, I just wanted to find out if I'd be able to qualify from online, cause I already qualified to national final from local event :)

Dave is insane. he ran his first lap of the combo at 11 and by half 12 he had a .1
:scared:
Think I'm going to have to re run this don't think my time will be top 16 for much longer.

Just so you U.K guys know, I'm actually ineligible to go any further in this :(, although I had a good laugh running it probably was one of the most frustrating car / tyre / track combo's I have ever driven.

Good luck to all of ya fighting out for those positions this weekend, because I can see it getting very tight on sunday.

I may try and pop down and check out the finals anyway, probably held at brands again

My current time on the board will probably be my final so it seems. I'm having problems with shifting gears on my G25 again and I'm pissed really bad coz of it. Sometimes there's a big delay in shifting up and down aswell, probably dust and it needs good cleaning.....well I can't participate in the competition anyway so it doesn't matter....:grumpy:

Good luck to all who haven't achived their best yet!

Same here good luck to everyone in the final days, I stopped racing this as I'm not eligible either and no point pushing anymore! also it's insane how many times i stuffed the last 2 turns due to over braking and spat my dummy out with it anyway before insanity set in haha :sly: Hated every lap on those crappy tyres... it's not a combo that will hold a place in my heart that's for sure :P

Good luck to all at the regional live events and beyond! and Congrats for getting there

I'd love to be eligible and in the mix again but I won't be pushing for the last few tenths this weekend as there needs to be a reward at the end of the suffering! Besides, I think I'd definitely struggle to make the top sixteen this time given how competitive it is and that it's taken me about five hours of play to get down to a 31.6.

I've been at all three previous UK national finals (the first two as a competitor and the last one as a spectator) so it will be strange not to be there this time. I love the atmosphere and tension that surrounds them due to the high standard and the stakes being so high.

Good luck to all this weekend and those who make it through.

Just set a 1:31.270 to put me in the top16 (UK& Ireland) for the first time this academy.
It's been hard to motivate myself to play, as I've had a bunch of stuff up in the air recently.

Good luck this weekend everyone đź‘Ť

Good luck to everyone competing this weekend indeed đź‘Ť. The times that the eligible countries are doing seem a whole lot more competitive than previous Academies bar a country or two.

On a side note - Anyone bothered worrying about the physical aspect of the competition this early??

yep, you have to keep your fitness up, it is not something that can be improved dramatically at the last minute :)
