Better hurry into the 31.0s Tidgney, the cut offs now at 1.31.189! (Not including people who are ineligible but still :D)
Just did a 1.31.077, went a bit too slow through last corner so lost a couple of hundredths. Stopping now, may have another go tomorrow, dont think the cut off will go down that much, but knowing my luck Ill go from 6th to 16th overnight :D

I'm still in 18th, 15th for the eligible people. My theoretical best is a mid 31.0 so tomorrow my aim is to get close to that time to secure my place in the top 16 :)

haha well I've gone to active steering mild to get the traction consistency out of the last 2 corners, it helps alot but I still can keep my looseness so will give it a proper shot tomorrow.... Typical of me to improve though to a .116 (2 laps later a .117) the .1's really do like me today..

haha, I did a .661, .662 and .663 in succession the other day

I didn't get picked no :), but I got invited instead :D! I did have a quick gander and noticed your application, hopefully you get picked :D!

http://www.redbull.co.uk/cs/Satellite/en_UK/Red-Bull-Gridsters/001243205340908

I'm just waiting for the 'official' email to fully confirm everything though :P!

edit: On topic if I get any more .1's my playstation won't have to YLOD anymore it will be thrown out the window!!
How did getting invited come around? I saw somewhere a GT Academy person got chosen or something like that. Good luck 👍.

I made a last second entry, forgot about it after I initially heard about it. Hopefully I get picked, would be awesome.

I haven't attempted to beat my time which I set quite a few days a go so I will probably find it hard to beat. If I get in danger zone on the leaderboards, tomorrow night I will do my best to change that. There are quite a few people in the .0XX now.

Who else in the top 16 aren't eligible or not entering ? (apart from me)
I think Twissy and Spurgy have said they are ineligible. There might be more people who also are not eligible.

Was weird to be fair, got a message on here about them looking for some top UK GT5 players and that they wanted to invite me, so I contacted them back and well one thing led to another, and got the invite :). Although I must say it's going to cost quite a bit as its a 5 and half hour drive down there, and I need to find somewhere to stay that isn't booked lol!

Edit: Ti-techs gone top :D! oooo wonder what will happen tomorrow (Hopefully my brain will be in gear and the .1's will leave me alone!)

Wow, someone from Red Bull came on GTPlanet to invite you if I'm interpreting correctly. That tutorial video has come in quite handy if that is what made them want to invite you, with the premium and now potentially this. A good reward for helping others 👍.

I'm sure you are not too worried about the cost or the long drive given the prize and stuff and the chance to race in front of F1 stars ;).

haha nah it was last saturday and the company organising it contacted someone from GTHQ to help them find some people (Who then contacted me). I must admit you are right, and I don't mind spending some money for the chance to just race (Even on a game) or even go to goodwood (Never been), so am looking forward to it! But as far as im aware you do get to meet vettel, webber and ricardo :D!

I'll see you there then Martin ;)

By the way talking of eligibility Twissy is GTDrivers_Moose then by the seems of it as what I suspected.

Might have been all your GT Academy activity that has helped you get recognised by GTHQ to pick you so a good reward for your help given to others last year and this year 👍.

That is awesome if you get to meet them regardless. If you do win, make sure to do the finger celebration in front of Vettel .

I was thinking of doing that :D! Put do his version and then move it so its a straight number 1 haha :D!

Crooked then straight . Button has done an impression before. I would do the same if I got the chance to be in that position. I suppose if you are second, you could always say to Webber, not bad for a number two driver!

I only did the TT for fun and its got me that gig by the seems of it. :)
Did you get an email? Good luck to you guys 👍.

Yeah it looks very interesting. That Forza game reminded me of something from 10 years ago, I had a Ferrari game on the console which for the life of me I cannot remember. Weird brakes, weird varying grip, if I was an xbox fan I think I would've had to have a look at Gran Turismo just to see if it behaves the same. The F1 games isn't too bad apart from the awful definition, at that speed you need to see the marker boards but they're lost in a sea of pixels. Never mind you get used to it.

Hopefully you'll be contacted soon, more GTers the more we take over the competition :sly:.

Have you noticed how barmy the UK leaderboard has gone! France, Spain, UK & IRE the most competitive leaderboards, I honestly don't think anyone on a .0 can rest easy I mean from my time to 4th there's less than a tenth!

If I got chosen, I would be concerned about the steering in Forza, and getting used to the FPS of F1 2011 after playing GT5 or Forza 4 in the competition ;).

Hopefully I do, but if davissi has already got an email and I haven't, chances are looking quite slim at the moment.

I was surprised to see how many .0XX there were after checking earlier in the day. Not looking good for me that is sure, if the improvement only happens with the people ahead of me I would not mind ;). I reckon there must be quite a few people behind me who have probably racked up quite a few hours more on this than me and it might be a matter of time for that fast lap to break for them.

The German guys ghost is really good he bottles the last two corners big time so if you can stay a tenth off him into the fast S bend you're looking at a 30.9, I did constant 31.3's. I'm driving very very consistently now only a tenth off my best lap after lap after lap but I keep forgetting the feel for the last two corners, not making mistakes any more, I just lose the trick for those corners. I thought it finished tonight actually so I might go and have a look at what Arnaud is upto.

Ahh yes I remember the Ferrari game on the Dreamcast! That's what it reminds me of. :)

I find using my own ghost helps me perform the best. I know then the lap is beatable and no need to give respect as I might do with faster ghosts. I turn ghost off just before the high speed chicane and back on after to use as reference. You already know if you are doing a good lap without ghost though as you know the minimum corner speed you want and how good traction you kept throughout the lap.

F355 rocked! The 3 screen fully manual arcade cab version was pretty hardcore for an arcade racer.

Good luck at that Red Bull event!

I'm the exact same. I currently have a ghost saved that is 1'31.404 and it is probably the best ghost I've ever had to use as a gauge for how well my lap is going. I turn it on at about 4 points during the lap to see where I'm at, although it can be a curse at times you realize you're on for something special and you butcher it.

Managed to do a load of .1's tonight and barely get a .0 - My aim is to be in the top half of the leader board by the end and I'm fully confident I can achieve that time tomorrow. It's so ridiculously close now. The gap from 4th to 11th is just (.038) which is less than half the car length as you cross the line.

Good luck to everyone giving it one last push 👍

Also had the invite, maybe its just prevoius UK finalists, kind of ignored it as i was busy at the time, Im not geting much time off work so the chances of geting it off were unlikely so soon as i saw it forgot about it.
Anyway will be cracking on later to see what i can on the last day! Also i do exactly the same Dessy with a .418 lap! how strange is that, it feels i lose .35 in sector one and can gain in every other single corner if i do it right, so using that it feels like i can achieve a far better time but haven't done that yet. Been level at that ghost after Sector one a few times and still done a low .2 without even nailing the end. So thats a .8 there.

My ultimate lap if I was to do all my best sectors would be a 1:31.099, but at the minute I'm on a 1:31.4 and have been for quite some time. Any tips on how to nail that perfect lap??

I used also my own ghost which was also in the .4XX but I think I will switch to my current fastest lap if I do an attempt today as I know I was slow in quite a few parts. I messed up quite a few good laps going into the last corner, not sure if it ghost that is off-putting or the tricky nature of the last corner.

It is on the weekend unless you got work then. If you can't make it, you can always recommend me ;) ;).

Quite a lot of us seem to be a few tenths off our best. It is a big mental game and also skill is a factor but even the alien fast drivers are leaving probably a tenth or so on the table as "perfect" is hard to achieve.

I agree, I think most of the top 16 are capable of .8, but getting in that 'zone' while playing doesn't come too often.

So I whacked on Ti-techs ghost just to have a gander, and I can see where he gets the time, anyway I just used him as a reference this morning for Sector 1 and removed it there on (My sector 1 this morning for some strange reason has been aweful :S?) finally the .1's have released me, I'm having a break till this evening then I'll push for a 1:30. If I don't get one I'll be pretty disappointed!

Funny you should mention having awful Sector 1 this morning. I was running 1:31.6 consistently until, out of nowhere, it's like something changed with the car and now I can't break 1:32.3. It's totally bizarre, without changing my driving style. It's like the car just stopped being fast. What has me baffled is it happen like someone flipped a switch, completely out of the blue.

Try the German guy's(Amo?) first sector its quite a bit quicker than Arnauds then he must've have sensed he will be going number 1 global because his turn 6 corner entry-mid is a botch and penultimate corner exit is poor bringing him all the way back to a lowly 1'20.7 :)
