Again... why not Finland, Sweden or Norway? Maybe we are too good drivers. We win every time we participate a car race... ;)

I understand it must be frustrating but we really need to bring this up again?

hmmm? Clearly not, they must think there is not enough competition from these areas, Finland used to be aloud in from memory? there are some brilliant drivers from scandanavia but they certanily do not win everything, also a shame Australia, Poland and a couple of others are not aloud, some brilliant players not given a chance, must be so frustrating for some.

Which countries are allowed to participate in the GT Academy is a marketing decision between the Sony and Nissan and is not for discussion here.

If you wish to complain, do so to Sony or Nissan.

['' Jordan Tresson (winner GTac 2010) on Facebook "] :

That's 8 events over 8 weeks with only the latter that counts. But be the minimum time (bronze) on ALL the tests before.

I'm really disappointed to hear this news, bad news... 👎

Hello everyone, just to get this right. There will be 7 Weeks in which you can do the tests (need bronze to past on) and the last week of the competition in june is the timetrail that counts?

My assumption would be that all the hints you've been getting over Facebook :), we've all seen them is just regarding the licences (Or corner tests) whatever you would like to call them. But from what Jordan has said (Tresson) that is, it would mean that to get new drivers upto speed you pass each round each week till the last week where the top times will be the ones that count and put you forward to the Nationals :).

Good luck guys, I'll hopefully be bringing out some tutorials as well to help new people improve and get that bit better time on any rounds they do enjoy :)!

To all those wondering about the ineligible countries. I remember reading that GT Academy would bring content to GT5 itself so I found the article and it says: 'The announcement also confirms that “rewards” or “gifts” earned in the GT Academy 2012 game can be transferred for use Gran Turismo 5.'

It would be pretty stupid to make this content available to certain countries/regions, although I could be wrong.

Sorry for the STUPID question, but I'm running GT5 now, I'm online and no GT Accademy here. Lol, I'm probably doing somethin wrong. I have to download somethin or it appears automatically in GT5? Thanks, and sorry for the dumb question.

Using a alt account?

Using a alt account?

Using my UK Account. I just moved to Australia recently, I'm still entering to set down those fast times :P I got very high up in the previous years. Plus I've got all the time in the world currently :)

Tommi Mäkinen,Kimi Räikkönen & Keke Rosberg disagree

Countries with most different F1 world champions:
1st UK = 10
2nd Brazil = 3
2nd Finland = 3

?? i was talking about GT Academy, there are some great drivers but it is not competitive as other countries like Spain, UK etc. thats why they have not included Finland etc.

Here is a question no doubt people from the unselected countries will use a alt to play this if they made the cut would it be a disqualification?

Yes. If but for example what would be stopping me to travel back to the UK if I had made it to the finals? I think it states Residents of the Countries Included are allowed to participate of course. I think people from the Countries not included for Example Australia wouldn't be allowed to the Final and face Disqualification on that basis depending which Store & Country they download the Download from. Your PSN Account is Linked to the Country that it's regiistered in. On my PSN ID The one I've used since I've had my PS3 has been from the UK and I'll continue to use that in this event and case. 👍

Good point but I think majority of people who create a alt are probably doing it to just have a try out of sheer curiosity on how it all looks.

Is that the reason though?

I completely forgot about GT Academy 2012 until a few minutes ago, will be interesting to see how this will turn out to be.

Looks like nobody has posted this up, so I'll just leave this here GT Academy 2012 Gaming Qualification Goes Live

Important parts to me are...

The fourth instalment of the highly acclaimed virtual-to-reality racing competition is open to anyone with a PlayStation®3 console by simply downloading a free and brand-new GT Academy qualification challenge themed around the hugely popular Gran Turismo® game.....

All competitors need is access to a PS3™ connected to the internet and to be registered to the PlayStation®Network. The eight-step online qualification format, developed especially by legendary Gran Turismo® creator Kazunori Yamauchi....

Entrants have eight weeks to complete these adrenaline-fuelled driving contests, ranging from handling powerful Nissan rear-wheel-drive performance cars and mastering cornering techniques at high speeds, through to setting lap times in wet and challenging conditions....

players can also challenge friends, colleagues and family for bragging rights by monitoring scores via ‘PSN Friends Lists’...

“This time around, we've designed a GT Academy qualification format as part of the Gran Turismo series on an unprecedented scale and aimed towards a wide variety of players,” explained Kazunori Yamauchi, President of Polyphony Digital. “This title may be free, but it is a truly independent piece of work and marks a place for itself along our path from GT5 to GT6....

“I felt that the only way to really do it right for the fourth GT Academy was to create a format where not only veteran Gran Turismo players, but also players who have never tried a driving simulator before, can experience the depth of race driving and the fun and excitement of time trials.”

Each of the rounds features a different racing skill to learn and master. You will need to clear a round to be able to progress to the next one.
If you are able to complete all events in a round to Gold standard, you will receive the car from that round for use in GT5, but even if you manage to just get through at Bronze level, there are special in-game treats to unlock.

Nice!

Is that the reason though?

Its the most obvouis reason wouldn't you say? if Norway etc. were competive and had say 20 drivers very close like 2-3 hundreds in it then they'd probably be competing?, but for the amount of expensive there is for each national final they probably don't think its worth it?
Like 2010 in Ireland there was 3-4 of seconds between the top 20 so it merged with UK, Would of maybe have been an idea for scandinavia etc.
I don't know just seems it is maybe because of this, will probably never know why though
