Those were fun, easy but fun. I only did each round maybe once or twice. I did the Nurburgring Silvia challenge 3 times and got down to the 39's on the last try. No reason for me to even try to be the best though. I wouldn't even have money enough to get a wheel to practice with.

Sam, where did you read thar DS3 users will be DQ? lol... That doesn t make any sense. :S

I just picked up another ps3 last week and gt5 just for this. I'm having a hard time getting used to my CSR wheel with GT. Was a lot quicker last academy with the dfgt. We'll shake the rust off plus i'm kinda extra motivated after being beat by AJ for the car. I was sick for weeks after that.
that sounds like an interesting story, humor a newbie?:D

Anyone else finding the menu music annoying? lol I turned it off. :D

Anyway, I've been focusing on the Leaf Challenges, especially the last 2 ...I made the leaderboards on those. :)

There was a month long Forza 4 tournament that ended a couple months ago sponsored by Hyundai. It was winner take all, and the grand prize was a brand new 2012 Hyundai Veloster and a check for $8,900. The total prize package was worth over $27,000. I won it, but Jersey was on my heels almost the entire time. He ended up finishing in 2nd place. Also, a couple years ago Hyundai sponsored another Forza tourney with a $2,000 cash prize. I won that one too, with Jersey a close 2nd.

I say we put our rivalry aside for now and focus on getting to the National finals first. Hopefully we a chance to go head to head in real life. =) Best of luck to ya man.

It's too bad that Racing games don't have the same popularity as say, shooting games, where one could make a living off being really good at them and entering tournaments for prize money.

Cool story brah, are there no fm4 threads in the fm4 web site?

Love the last session of round 2, great fun, even though the two other cars just love being rolling roadblocks! :P

thats the best part about the academy, ainnit? To have enough motivation to stay true to your new years resolution:D

Without a doubt, the most dominant factor in competition which determines the winner is well,...determination. I agree. I'd say Mr. H proved in 2011 that consistency and a will to win are what drives the winner. I also want to stress the importance of physical fitness to this competition. If I could give anyone a tip, I'd say run until you can run 5+ miles. Then run 5+ miles and practice racing directly after with no stop and run another 5 miles. I hope I help even one person win it all with that tip. I have a torn miniscus in my knee so I'm just here for fun! I wish all competitors the best.

I remember you almost making it to Orlando (I think) last year! lol

I still use your "bungee cord" brake pedal mod for my DFGT ... :dopey:

Eh, 5 miles is a bit much. You don't have to be super human, a good couple miles will do just fine.

Ditto.

Edit: Gas pedal too.

i hate how they space the Silvias in 2-5 so the red one is riiiiight in your way through those tight S bends, if you get a good pass on the yellow one with a lot of momentum you can sideswipe the red car on the inside grass without a DQ :)

Nothing super human about running 5 miles, it's actually a pretty mild distance. Doing that kind of distance 3 times a week (build up to it first) and then running a 2 mile sprint is a cake walk.

I believe when I used to run 5 miles every other day that is about when the endorphins kick in "runner's high"(for me)

Anyone looking to get in shape for the boot camp should look no further than P90X. If you put everything you have into that program you will come out of it in great shape.

No he didn't, potato used a dfp. It was the guy from the southeast region. L_harrison, the results from round 3 are still up on the website btw.

I knew someone did, for some reason I thought it was him...
Anyways looks like Spa is next:

How about cycling? I've been riding my bike ~6 miles almost everyday for the past couple weeks. I should also start running though. I also do ladders (a type of sit up), plank's (for the core), and lift some weight's (for the arms).

I am by no means "buff", but my little routine keeps me in shape. 👍

Doing something is better than nothing, but cycling and running do work the legs differently. I'm running stronger (faster) this season than last already, but my cycling is way behind. Last year I was doing 20-27 mile rides once or twice a week after work, now I don't even know if I could finish one, haha. Certainly not any where close to 20mph average. That's why it's good to mix it up though, the body gets used to doing the same thing every day.

P90x is great if you can deal with the main guy. He's so dang cheesy. Really the only thing I ever do consistently from the routine is the stretching/yoga...I can't even get half way through the ab ripper :P.

I'm assuming that's a workout routine?

I wouldn't call a 6 mile bike ride cycling, but as said before doing something is better than doing nothing...

A pretty damn good one!

Yah that was a heartbreaker for me. I felt so defeated that I didn't play GT5 until yesterday! The West was really tough though. My time was good enough for top 32 in the nation but only 9th or 10th in my region I think.

Im really excited to have another shot at this. Its a second chance not only for myself, but some of my clubmates who didnt get to compete, and also for Conman who made it to Silverstone but had to withdraw.

ADDED: Man it seems like just yesterday that we were having these fitness discussions for the last competition! Im flying in Choate to be my personal trainer and motivator. =)

If its gonna be in that car, I can't wait. I haven't been able to get that car at all on GT5 so it'll be a blast to drive that.

What!? Seriously? Dude you want one? I think I have a duped one on my secondary...

Yeah. Its the only GT Academy car missing from my collection. I'd love to have one if you can send it.

I'm loving this so far. Kinda wish there were some longer trials, but I guess we're working our way up to them.

Just got a 39.063 in 2-5, which is 8th in the US at the moment. I'm hoping it's good enough for the top 30 or so once everyone has a shot at it. There are definitely some people conspicuously absent from the leaderboards so far :D
