They should just review laps, DQ the cheaters, and move the required no. of drivers up from 1st rd. This would send a msg to drive as clean as possible.

Could this be a curve-ball lesson that the "academy" had planned to throw at us all along?? I think I'm losing my mind because of this LOL. *puts on tinfoil hat*

The thing is, if they just left it with Eifel everything would have been fine. They already set the precedent with Round 1 that they were going to let people go in the grass on the exits. They really didn't need to do this big change, at the very least leave Toscana in. This makes the whole thing a bit of a joke at this point. So now what, when someone finds a way to use the walls on these new tracks they change them again?

Hope no one had anything at all planned for the weekend. Just know that from here on out your time spent on this may very well be for nothing...:guilty:

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!

I never even touched Eiffel once!

<---- only spent a small amount of time on Toscana, never touched anything else!

Looks like my procrastination paid off because I didn't waste any time haha!

Well at least now the cheating is limited... to bouncing off the walls. This kinda puts the slow learners like myself at a disadvantage, but at least I have the weekend. Let the **** show begin.

Lucky bastard.

That´s a surprise...

They are so clueless it´s not even funny. First they don´t test the game, now they keep changing tracks and the whole thing is just a mess.

If they wanted "fastest out of the bat", they could have done this differently. Changing Toscana makes no sense at all.

Who can blame John Deere at Eifel if they set the precedent in round one at Cape Ring?

The real question is this: why does "the real driving simulator" has physics that allow you to go faster on the grass?

It´s like they are trying hard to screw Superbowl for everybody...

The ending date not changing means Sony and Nissan already have a tight schedule for the competition and can´t change dates.

I hate ****ing cheaters in driving sims. It makes absolutely 0 sense. More so tha most games that are sort of a balance of luck of the draw(shooters). We play these games to test skill, and vehicle control. You literally have 0 skill if you're cutting a corner, or riding a wall, knocking some guy off the track, etc. It boggles my mind at times, that people want so much realism from their sims, yet all they want to do is cheat to get first with a car looking half exploded.

I really was sad that I didn't get to participate in GTAcademy, I was really looking forward to it, but I just couldn't put the time in. To see that Sony & PD can't get their **** together and just invalidate replays, is beyond upsetting. I know how many hours lots of you log into this to practice, and PD knows as well. The point of GTA is to find good drivers, with good attitudes. They are failing at this beyond all previous fails in human history. The most die hard community fans are trying this thing out, and im sure many are just plain turned off by it, leaving the cheaters to sort of out number the clean guys, and rise to the top. I'd imagine that half the cheaters are children in the first place, so good luck actually being able to qualify for the competition.

Sucks guys, I'm sorry you have to go through this. But at least good driving is good driving, you will be able to cut down your time on these tracks, just as you were before. Unfortunately you can still ride walls on these tracks since PD didn't take a moment to make it instantly disqualify you for hitting a wall at a certain speed/angle.

The stupid Top Gear/Challenges in general are so strict, yet their competition is being changed drastically due to grass cutting? Give me a break.

OK, vent over. Good luck guys, don't let this stuff deter you. I'd love to see some GTP folks on TV, because I know you guys represent the hobby/enthusiasm.

So much for watching Geen Bay stomp the Steelers. Actually i could care less about the superbowl the eagles aren't in it anyways. Never even turned a lap on madrid in anything. damn it!

I have a feeling this experience will have some influence on future revisions of the game.

I think I only ran about an hour in round 1 and realized you could cheat the spirit of the contest. I think the organizers have signed up for more than they bargained for. I remember racing in a couple of "multi-board challenges with GT3 and GT4 and the organization required for only 20 or 30 entrants was at times overwhelming.

Until they start making the courses with penalties for an off, or a touch there will be people cutting the track where possible. The city courses are going to be the best option until they start reviewing and disqualifying individuals for cutting the track.

Other than this bit of rules enforcement chaos the event has been fun to follow.

Sad for you guys, but maybe it´s good that something like that are happend now. Cross the fingers that PD will learn a bit about this stuff and bring a proper update for all of us. 👍

They have run the Academy for a few years now. I would have thought they would have looked into this stuff before they started the competition for this year. I find it hard to believe nobody did this sort (lawn mowing, not the indy crap) of thing in the past competitions.

The funny thing is, if they implemented real damage (like the game promised) and their license test penalties all of these issues would be a moot point because four off would be red lapped and a wall bounce would damage your car.

Make a real simulator and you wont have these issues. 👎

Quite the oposite, the first academy ran at Eiger had lots of problems with people riding the walls.

It´s an issue they could only have adressed with proper non-tarmac physics.

As for last year, i don´t remember if anyone tried to cut corners at Indy.

What is strange is that they already have the tech to enforce rules.

If they set this up like the license tests, four wheels off it´s a DQ everytime.

Things like this bring back the theory of "PD is out of touch with it´s fans", because they don´t know how people have been playing their game for the last decade.

Wall riding/Grass is a problem since GT1.

I can remember a couple of license tests where I would mess up, so I would drive off into the grass to get DQed in order to restart. Sometimes it would do it right away, other times I could play around in the grass for a while before getting DQed. The license test system is far from perfect.

4 wheels off means lap invalidated, simple as that and THE only way to eliminate the cheating. PD can change tracks until the cows come home and it will not fix anything or prevent cheating. :yuck: Also ride a wall or other barrier and lap invalidated as well. Run a clean REAL TRUE TO LIFE LAP or lap invalidated. Very simple fix..black and white..with no gray area to cheat with!💡

Obviously, like the rest of you, I couldn't be more happy and excited than to get another chance to start all over again!

I'm going to look at this in a positive way - Here I thought I would only get 7 track/car combinations in the first 3 rounds but no... now I get 10! could be 11 or who knows 15(!) by the end of round 3.

You know what I call getting more than I thought I was getting? A Great Value! If GT5 were a restaurant I couldn't make it to Silverstone cause I would be too obese by now with the great value I'm getting.

Based on the RD.2-1, RD.2-2, RD.2-1A, RD.2-1B, RD.2-2A upgrade timelines I'm not going to bother until 2pm or 3pm Sunday - when they will have changed both tracks again. And make sure to check again at 11:55pm Sunday just in case they wipe it again.

They ought to review the 1st round laps too, because clean driving doesn't include mowing on the Cape.

The Europe GT Academy last year was on the same Indy track, but corner cutting was impossible it invalidated your time, just like in time trial mode in GT5. Why can't they just set conditions to time trial?

Exactly. Its like there was hardly any thought put into how the Academy was setup this year
