GT Academy July 2013!!

I should've started playing the game earlier, only started from the last Nürburg seasonal event lol. I can never get the first corner & copse bang on. I must lose about a second just from those two corners

Those two corners both require a fair amount of drifting. If you turn fairly sharply as you gradually (too quickly and you won't get good rotation, you will just understeer) lift off the brake you should feel the back end step out. Then you just need to learn to feel the rotation and control it which will take time but will make it a lot easier to go faster once you have.

Right, cheers for that. I'm trying to the find the exact points of when to downshift too, so that the car doesn't feel unsettled when turning into a corner.

I wonder where the country 'Hungray' is? Even though I've never heard of it before, they only have 4 qualifying spots and all 4 of the current qualifiers are on a 2:17.8 so that looks pretty close!

I think it was 2011 when I was 6th with a week or so to go, then I left it thinking it was in the bag and made it through as a reserve in 21st

Question (no cheating): Can you name me a Hungarian F1 driver over the last 12 years?

Some dummy got the r and a the wrong way wrong, it should be Hungary.

Regarding the GTAcademy event at the O2 Arena this weekend... Has anyone been able to enter successfully through this form?:

http://www.nissangtawildcard.co.uk/

If I fill in my details, then click 'enter', it just sends me back to the top of the page, and there's no confirmation message. Very annoying.

It's probably not letting you enter because it's open to UK residents only.

Just registered myself for Sunday, 4-8pm :)

I'll probably need this as my time is not going to hold up much longer, and sector 1 is determined to stop me improving further :grumpy:

If anyone is bored and can be bothered who has a G27, post their G27 part numbers. Mine is 841-000037, can be found on bottom of wheel. Just checked this part number on Google Search and saw others have same issues as me. Quite old part number compared to latest one which is 941-000093.

Mine is also 841-000037

What issues have you been having?

Sounds like it might be my computer. I've tried applying loads of times. :(

I'm a UK resident... I just haven't found a permanent home yet, so I'm just using my temporary post code.

Force feedback used to fade out a lot, then it started overheating quickly, and now certain FFB effects don't work, the feeling of cornering on limit and traction is dead in feeling. Can you feel much through the high speed section of Maggotts, Becketts and Chapel? Mine is dead in feeling but as you might know my wheel stopped working properly in the Mazda London TT.

Still struggling for improvement. I've been on holiday for nearly 2 weeks which hasn't helped matters. Impressed with those, like Spurgy,
who can get in the 16s with the DFGT. Do you gain an advantage with G25/27 or the T500
RS because it feels more realistic, particularly with the pedals?

I don't know tbh, if I had something to compare to then maybe I could tell but I'm used to my wheel so I really don't know :scared:

I'm such a catastrophic imbecile. The reason it wasn't working was because I was typing both the black and pink security code writing, and I was only supposed to be typing in the black. Problem solved.

Anyway, I'm booked-in for Saturday. I'm a bit annoyed it clashes with the Lovebox festival though. 👎

There is very little in it, depends on more the driver for bigger gains if one is comfortable with wheel and pedal set or not.

Is feedback better than your DFGT was when it was on its way out?

Can you feel edge of traction?

Logitech have 3 year warranty so nothing to be worried about though and best warranty service I know of.

I'm not sure, I will have a back to back check later, maybe that is my problem 💡

Makes a difference on consistency. A worn out DFGT will not really have good FFB though, if it is working as new should really feel better or similar to G27 in terms of feedback.

My G27 experience so far has been strange as FFB fades so much in and out even in short sessions of play. My DFGT gave me the best consistent FFB. Reading up about the new G27 refresh, it sounds promising that it may be on DFGT level.

Just given it a quick test, the DFGT, even though it is a bit worn out and has quite a lot of play in the steering, it was definitely easier to correct slides whilst on the power than it is using my G27. It's too late now to change my wheel though, it would take at least 2 weeks to get it sorted and by then the competition will be over :ouch:

The FFB was also stronger on the DFGT, using standard setting of 5 for the FFB strength, I've just tried changing it up to 10 to use my G27, maybe this will help? 💡

At least you are safe for qualification, might help you in a way the wheel being how it is as there is a difference in FFB with T500RS so good not to be too reliant on it. They only gave one lap to get used to the wheel last year IIRC so I just ended up driving slower purposely so I did not have any oversteer moments. Also depending on how much abuse the wheel has had, might feel different too. I have experienced a T500RS, that is poor in FFB, one that is good and one that centre calibration point has broken so good to take these things into account as you never know what condition wheel you are going to get. If it is one with broken calibration or some issue with pedals, then good idea to refuse using it.

I guess you could try DFGT out and see if you can get to same pace as you managed with G27.

Might make it worse putting FFB up as it might overheat and lose FFB quicker. If detail in FFB is already gone, then I don't think any setting will make it better. Only putting fans pointed at wheel might help give more consistent feedback.

So even in gt6, there probably won't be proper FFB for the g27? That blows.
There is proper support for G27 in GT5 and also should be in GT6. It is more hardware problem, if G27 is fully working then it is at a decent level in FFB.
