Jann has said his aim is F1. I think it will take at least 2 years before in contention of making step to F1. He may even partner fellow Gran Turismo gamer Sebastian in the Infiniti sponsored Red Bull in near future ;). Anything is possible as long as Jann keeps on progressing well and so far he looks to be doing that. Hockenheim qualifying later on today in F3.
I know it's his first year racing open wheel cars, but Mardenborough is looking below average in one of the best teams (Carlin) in a very mediocre field. I'm sure he'll improve some and maybe start matching his teammates, but the other Carlin drivers probably aren't making it to F1 either (based on talent). We'll see how it goes, but don't hold your breath about F1. TBH, only Marciello looks properly destined for F1 (in this series) at this point.

Well I don't know Bryan in person, but maybe it's because he didn't want to move to Europe?

Maybe because he did not put 110% in it? We all know that that the only one that has his place safe is Lucas, all the other's have to push hard... Look at Jordan, do you guys know why he was taken out? He is french, so the USA-Nascar theory doesn't match...

There's arguably just as much to race in North America, particularly in the United States as their is in Europe. Sure we don't have GP3 or anything like that, but the possibilities are endless..

It really is a shame, and that's Nissan's fault for not taking the GTA seriously enough, Nissan needs to step up and come forward with a serious factory team in at least one major series outside of Super GT!
They are taking it seriously, Nissan's motorsport program is getting bigger and bigger.

Oh they take it serious, everywhere except here it seems. If they're not going to really give the USA guys a chance, or if there is nowhere to put them afterwords, then what's the point?
Steve is getting similar opportunities as the european guys. They are still working on plans for Bryan this year most likely.

First time he is really doing any sprint racing and him having the car to himself so a new challenge for him. You have to remember it has not even been two years yet since he won GT Academy and he has come a long way already.

He is doing good, is in reach of others and his team mates are not bad, one has got pole position twice already this season and won a race. The difference is only a few kph per corner, once he picks up on new techniques and gets better understanding of what setup works for him then I am sure he will start getting closer to the sharp end of the grid.

You mention Marciello but you have to remember this is his 3rd season racing in Formula Three based series. 2012 TRS he didn't do much better than Jann did in TRS this year and considering he had a whole season of Formula Three racing under his belt before shows you that Jann should be given benefit of doubt that he can reach a high level especially considering he is the least experienced there by a huge margin. This qualifying in TRS this year shows he has potential: Link. Nearly outqualified a GP2 driver at his home track.

Carlin sees he has potential. Too early to write off Jann yet, I don't know how other drivers fared in the first few sprint races to be judged on but I think he is doing quite good. Hopefully he does well enough towards end of year to get chance for another season as that is when things start really coming together for experienced drivers so it will mean a lot more to someone as inexperienced as Jann.

For now. I just hope he does well enough to keep going.
It will most likely be down to how well he performs and that goes for the European guys so it is fair. Lars and Jordan have been dropped already so it is likely to be quite cut-throat especially now they are getting more and more drivers. Even if you win GTA, you are not entitled to anything if you can't deliver or show good enough progress to always get fully funded drives. Lucas has not been getting an easy ride either, it looks like he needed sponsors to get some of the drives he has got. Commitment level has to be high.

Year is almost half over.(!) If nothing has been announced by now, chances are there won't be anything.
He hasn't been dropped at least, still wearing his Nissan GT Academy stuff. He wants to make a lasting career out of it so hopefully something he can build on comes along.

I think Bryan still has potential, anyone that can outpace Bill Auberlen, Matt Plumb, John Edwards, Eric Curran, Lawson Aschenbach, etc is worthy of some sort of drive in my mind.. just saying.

2012 finalist Krystian Korzeniowski from Austria-Switzerland-Poland group won his 1st race in 3rd round of Volkswagen Castrol Cup.

Well done to Jann on getting his first F3 podium finish in Round 1, Race 3 of British F3. Shows you experience helps and more importantly the impact of trying track in GT6 ;).

Big crash for Jann today at the Red Bull Ring, but hopefully everything is ok!

I leave you guys one of my drift championsip participation after GTAcademy!

Quick bit of news on the other GT Academy winner - Jordan Tresson is racing a Lexus IS F in VLN this year.

They should take the top 20 Aussie drivers from this GTA and train them up with rick and Todd Kelly for the 2 positions along side him.

That would be cool, but this is a pretty serious race I wouldn't want any first year GTA grad taking on.

They've done it with semi professional drivers already (google Shannon's Supercar Showdown). The car they fielded under the Shannon's livery in 2011 and 2012 was well off the pace at the Bathurst 1000 as far as I can remember though.

Wishful thinking suggests that an Asia Pacific GT Academy will have driving in the 2014 Bathurst 12 hour as the grand prize (in a similar fashion to the Dubai 24 being the grand prize for 3 of the 5 past GT Academies so far). They don't have too long to train the drivers up if it's happening early next year though so I wouldn't bet on anything unless Darren Cox himself announces the return of GT Academy to New Zealand and Australia.

Awesome! I really was hoping to see Brian compete on WC-GT...
What car and what team is he running with? Nissan really needs to step up their game on their racing programs this side of the Atlantic.

Me too. I really hope Bryan gets some seat time soon.

Some team stateside would need to pony up some cash to get a Nissan team started here right? Would Nissan power a DP? lol
