Gah, I like my games CHALLENGING and not n00b-level. Some prize cars can be easy to obtain, others hard.

Dammit, I buy the game because I want a challenging way to get cars, not to make my own challenges. The make your own challenge way is much less rewarding.

nah, GT1-4 were the only offering of this type of game really so people really had no expectation other than what they had already been given by PD. Since GT4, the genre has been picked up by other studios and pushed to experiment in new areas, some are fantastic and add realistic depth, and SHOULD be covered by "The Real Driving Simulator" and some are not so good.So now the gamer has other titles to benchmark GT5 against, A set of expectations that have been laid down by other titles competing with GT. A situation where things that seem like gimme's for any simulator, have been left out of GT5. Either way, it seems kaz has been living in his own little bubble with regards to this. Hence all the criticism of GT5.Not just on this site, but in large by the gamer, and the game reviewers. I was talking to a good friend of mine the other day about this, He is a GT fanboy from way back. One of the types that make you just want to beat your head against the wall and I have always tried to avoid GT vs real life conversations with him as he would always argue till he is blue in the face that GT is more realistic than actually driving ect. Anyway long story short, He is also disappointed and he said to me "Thing is mate, Its not how GT5 sells that tells the story of GT5....Its how GT6 will sell that will really tell how successful GT5 was, and i dont think it will be selling half the copies on the release date that GT5 did"

Just buy a car? You seem to forget that credits are also a form of reward. And saving up to buy a ridiculously expensive car gives much more satisfaction than just winning it from completing a series of races because not only does it take much more work to earn the ridiculous sum of credits than winning a few races, but you also need to have the restraint not to blow the credits on something else.
So I really don't understand the fuss about not having prize cars that are only winnable. It really doesn't do much to make the car more special or more challenging to obtain.
Since you seem to think that the prize cars are supposed to be super-unbelievably special, wouldn't the fact that you can't re-win them make them more special?
Um yeah, it would save maybe a few kilobytes. Max.
And GT5 still has more "proper" unlockables than any other modern racing game. Even if you don't consider buying cars unlocking them, you still have to be at a high enough level before you unlock the option to buy a car.

So because forza was released car games now have to have n00b-level difficulty and no proper challenging rewarding unlockables? And being able to re-win cars also means the carousel from GT3 can be implemented.

Well GT5 is realistic, ANY car is for sale if somebody has enough money
And even if somebody had a car that they would never sell, they surely wouldn't give it away as a prize for a race either

Having "standard" and "premium" cars or having cars that cos 20000000 credits is NOT realistic. And if they want to be so realistic why not make actual cars instead of making GAMES which are supposed to have proper UNLOCKABLES?

I dont know, I always played GT games because I like racing, not collecting. These are digital cars, they mean nothing to me. Racing against the AI, and real people, the competition is where its at for me.

I don't want to get into an argument wif you, I just don't see why youre getting so worked up over it =P
You can purchase every car, so what?? Is that such a big issue, really??? Reaaallllllyyy?? Come on =P
Just don't purchase them yourself if it makes you angry, just pretend you have to win them, and if other people purchase them well it won't affect you so don't worry about them.
Go race and relax a bit =P

The ability to purchase them might not make prize cars exclusive, but it still makes them valuable. It seems like PD shifted the importance of Money in this game and I'm not finding it easy to purchase the cars that I want. Work for money.. Interesting concept! The structure is different from previous series but I don't think it's flawed.
In the older series people could quickly wall ride through beginner races, win an expensive prize car, and then sell it for quick cash. Maybe Meech really misses this exploit since he doesn't enjoy racing???

OK first of all "making your own challenge" isn't nearly rewarding enough and second of all, I wouldn't want to spoil the prize cars for myself by reading some list.
Obvious troll is obvious. I already explained why I like prize-exclusive cars. AND I ALWAYS USED THE SAME SORT OF CAR AS THE AI FOR RACES.
BTW can someone merge this post with the previous 1? I didn't realize I double-posted.

Thats kind of what it sounds like. There are 1000 cars in this game, it would take a very long time to earn enough money to buy all them. So what does PD want you to do about it? RACE!!! Earn money, buy cars, use them online.
This isnt pokemon or some RPG trying to find some uber rare sword. The X-1 is unlockable, the rest need to be purchased or won through races, and it will take some effort to do it.

GT is not "pokemon for cars", but maybe Kaz will release GT for Boys someday.
While GT5 is somewhat like an RPG, collecting cars is not the main focus. The last time I checked Gran Turismo was the Real Driving Simulator, not the Real Car Collecting Simulator.

Stop complaining. I played GT 4 and Forza Motorsport at the same time and the main impression from GT 4 was: WTF is this **** doing in 2005?
GT 5 is incredible progress over GT 4. Polyphony did a great job

I haven't bought a car yet, except for the 4 karts to get the trophy at the beginning, all of the cars I got from licences and winning races. So i guess I'm collecting prizes.
And GT is like pokemon to me, I gotta hav'em all!

In the history if GT games and the prize cars, GT5 has the mother load if crap prize cars. Obviously prize cars matter, otherwise we wouldn't get them. If anything, I'm pissed off that we can sell and win the prize car again. The desirable cars are insainly expensive. With no clear cut way of building a hefty bank account, many of those desirable cars will not be enjoyed.

i realy lost my hop and excitment for completing a cup or set of events the car rewards realy suck so so so badly i remember from the GT games i always look forward and cant wait to finish cups and event to get new sexy cars but in GT5 the cars they give u are crap and ugly like for example when you finish the tuning race event you get a silly vollexwagon car lol !

The system of prizing is extremely useful in my opinion. I did most of the events right now using prize cars. Just because a car is purchasable, does not mean I'm forking out the cash for it. Hell, I would love a Mazda Furai, and I saw one before, but I skipped over it because I buy what I need.
The most sincere thing you've posted in this thread.
He is playing other games, on this forum. This is at least the third thread he's started on this subject over the last week, and one of his other posts earlier today strongly gave the impression that he doesn't own GT5.
