I just bought GTL again, second hand. w00t.

I've recently bought it too 👍 👍

I was playing the P'n'G mod for GTR2, but found it ran a bit slow on my PC. Legends, although not quite as good, runs much better and covers modern historic motor racing - where as P'n'G/GTR2 trys to emulate how it was in the day.

P'n'G?
Do you mean Power&glory, 60's turismo mod? I don't know where to find this mod.

EDIT: just read your post on the GTR2 official thread.

Now you can play the historic gt mod for rfactor :) it's gt legends w/ better physics and sounds and more cars and liveries. 👍
Yep but I guess I need rFactor for this?!

I got the GTR2 version that comes with GTL. It was $9.99 And it runs fine on my laptop even with 16 cars on screen its around 20fps at full detail. I also play with a PS1 controller since I'm just looking to play a racing game on the go and not the ultimate driving experience. I'm not happy with the engine sounds.

I've been trying to install the original German GTR version on a new computer and it keeps giving me errors (disk code errors) and the pc freezes up all the time, trying to run GTR.

I never had that problem with my previous pc's.

Well, I found the game for 5 dollars and after reading this thread, I am definantly going to pick this one up, won't be online for a while though I'm afraid.

I'm trying to find a new GTL copy but to no avail. I need it for the next Historic GT & TC mod for rFactor.

I've looked at ebay and can't find any copies. Amazon is out of the question because I don't have a credit card.

Decided to try a "David V Goliath" style race on GT Legends. I decided to start with the Mini Cooper against the Ford Mustang.

Oddly enough I've just started playing this game, having got it a while back on Steam via some bundle offer. There are tons of mods out there including one with completely revamped menus etc. It also kinda merged with another Simbin game I forget the name of but have that also. Regardless, I am playing through the main campaign first and having a blast. The only gripe I have is that the AI put in much better quali laps than their performance in the race itself. Definitely need to play this at least "semi-pro".

Re. Mini vs. Mustang, I've seen Minis give Falcons a run for their money at the Goodwood Revival, so it seems realistic =)

If you're blowing away the field, then they won't be competitive with you. Run a difficulty where the races are closer and the AI becomes magical.

I'm pretty competitive on Semi Pro. Did a 6 lap race on Zolder in a GT40 and came 6th after starting in 5th.

Only difference between pro and semi-pro is that pro has the fastest AI setting and no ABS. I go back and forth between those two difficulties depending on the car.

You might be thinking of the Power & Glory mod for GTR2 (http://www.gtlw.co.uk/). Basically taking the GTR2 game engine (and tracklist) and adding GTL car roster expanded to include all the different versions throughout the years. Amazing mod 👍

Also, @kikie the thread title needs changing lol. I thought it was a new GTL game for a second

Hmm I know that. My point is that the AI are far quicker in quali than they are in the race, so after a while you realise that quali is no indication of what you will be up against in the race. I wasn't always qualifying in pole but still leaving the field for dust in the race, so switched to semi-pro, which is giving me a good balance in races for now.

EDIT: Must admit I am a little confused by all the Simbin titles, I seem to have GT Legends, Race 07, GTR, GTR Evolution but not GTR2. Then there is a GTR Evolution expansion for Race 07 on Steam? Then the Power & Glory mods, of which there are more than one? I guess I can just play through the campaigns on the ones I have, then seek out GTR2 and any mods...

After messing with some .gdb's I have worked out how to add new car classes to GTL and made a video tutorial on it if anyone else wishes to do it. Great for creating full grids for specific racing series:

Noob question alert: How do you get a full race replay in the vanilla game? I seem to have the instant reply option that shows about the last 30 seconds or so and can "monitor" cars that haven't yet finished when I have (albeit behind the results board) but seem to be overlooking a full replay option, if there is one?

On the main menu you should see an option for REPLAYS like this:
GTL 2015-07-26 22-06-29-062.jpg

It should have the replay for the last race you did on each track.

Edit: I have also found out that the editing car classes works for GTR2 as well. Just edit the SIM_OFFICIAL.gdb in the GTR2 directory and add them as a special class and they should appear.
