I have decided to just concentrate on practicing from turns 1 to 5 until I can consistently drive on the limit and simply get the car home on the more relaxed remainder of the circuit.

So I'm driving from 1 to 5 then hitting restart and doing it all over again. So far I have managed to shave off around four seconds.

Sounds like a good idea. I honestly have more problems with the 2nd half of the track... I must have a mental block for turn 6... it throws me off 50% of the time... just can't find a good consistent line through it.

On the time I submitted, my first split is 0'47.155 (the one right before turn 5), so that should give you a good target. :) I've done a 46.8xx a few times but always threw the lap away later on. I'd love to put together a "perfect" lap but I just can't see it happening here on these tires... can't wait to see what Niigaki churns out.

@ Captcalvin

Sorry, no late time submissions are accepted after the due date.

@ Glubags

I am currently at 00'00.000, I haven't done anything serious yet, I am waiting for Tatsunoko vs Capcom to come out for the Wii since nothing good for the Playstation 3 comes out till March. Don't worry, my time submission will be in shortly :P

sigh..

02'00.354 with minor toe and ride height changes. I know its possible to getting into 1'50s, its just a matter of Luck, Throttle Control, and correct line. And I hate you Glu for already breaking into the 1'50s.

Ran a 1'57.221 with a slight wall tap out of corner 2 and a few slower lines elsewhere... 1'56 is coming, I've just gotta keep trying.

Edit:
1'57.251 completely clean, but turns 8, 9, and 10 were pretty awful. Nervousness kicked in at the end.

First sector was a 46.6, fastest I've run yet by two tenths.

Kills me that I could've broken into the 1'56s with a cleaner turn 10, let alone 8 and 9. Siiiiiiigh.

...Agh! 1'57.023. Thought for sure I was into the 1'56s... then I watched the replay and the Supra's bulbous ass just barely tapped the outside rail exiting turn 2. One red spark. One. :grumpy:

My 1'57.023 lap had a first sector of 46.9... so I should be able to go a couple tenths into the 1'56s with a great lap.

LOL

That sucks!

I know there have been times where I was fairly certain that I didn't hit the rail... only to watch the replay and see sparks.

On the bright side, I ran what is pretty much a perfect lap (for me): 1'59.099

I really don't think I can improve on that laptime unless I find a better tuning setup... and that's doubtful.

I was unable to complete C1 as I have been busy, and what times I did get, none were clean laps. Since C2 is my car choice, I have to spend more time trying. First attempt, which was a clean lap, I got 2'16.560.

Fastest clean lap: 2'12.090

2'04.688 with poor to no tuning so I'm actually happy with the time. With a better setup I think 2'00.000 is possible for me given that I'm drifting / spinning the tires a lot on turn 7.

Glubags - awesome time. 48.85 is the best I have for T1 - 46.?? is brilliant.

Please note that today is the final day for time submissions. It's currently 7:43am PST. Deadline is 11pm PST, don't be late :)

Yeah... I think I've hit the wall. I'm not seeing any improvement on my times. In fact, all my recent clean laps are about 7 or 8 tenths of a second slower than my personal best.

My son didn't really have any time to do this challenge - he just ran about ten or fifteen laps today, but at least he'll be able to submit a time.

I am officially done. Finally broke into the 1'56s... by 3 thousandths of a second. And it can still be done faster... Turns 6 and 7 were garbage, and my first sector was 2 tenths slower than my previous fastest.

Either way, I'm settling here. Perfection on this track is far too demanding. I'll post up the pic/ghost/vid when I have access to my PC again (posting from my phone).

I gotta say, this has been one of my favorite challenges yet, because of/despite the level of difficulty/frustration. :)

Aight, here we go.

1'56.997

Click.

Youtubed, 3rd person chase cam to show the walls (some very close calls here):

Splits:
T1: 0'46.792
T2: 1'34.419

Can anyone please give me some pointers as to how i should tune my car for this event? thanks! After 3 tries I managed a 2'01.039 without any tuning. I don't think i can do any better as of now. I just want to explore the tuning options a bit to see if they can improve my time a bit. I'd say 2'01 is a pretty good time for a kid who'll probably never drive a real car(tried it last tuesday with my friend's car for about 20 meters and was completely overwhelmed and will probably never try again).

I'll share my setup:

Spring rate F/R: 4/4
Damper F/R: 3/3
Ride height F/R: -10/-10
Toe in, F/R: 10/0
Camber F/R: -1.5/-1.5

I tend to use settings similar to this for all FR cars for balanced and predictable handling with some variance in damping and spring rates to account for weight distribution. The Supra is a bit front-heavy in real life, but I found I was faster with the type of suspension tuning I'd use for a 50/50 weight car.

Hope this helps. 👍

Tuning aside, the real keys here are throttle modulation and steering precision... In many cases, you can exit a corner using nothing but throttle to steer the car, but I admit that takes a lot of commitment when the walls are closing in.

Great control on the car, Glubags.
Are you using the D-pad or the analog nub?

D-pad. My analog nub is awfully sticky... doesn't allow for precise inputs at all, so I have to tap-tap-tap away at the d-pad.

After 3 tries I managed a 2'01.039 without any tuning.

If it's any consolation after three tries I still hit everything but the hotdog stand.:dunce: And the only reason for not hitting that was I couldn't find it.
Thanks for the helpful tips guys. Even though I didn't get a chance to try them this round I will have to in the future. Here's my submission.
Time 2'08:852
