Nice job with the results @MagpieRacer and sorry to request even more work but would it be too much to ask you to include the stage name and location with the results for posterity's sake and maybe even the conditions and time of day? Also, perhaps a list of stages ahead of the next championship would also save us rushing off to Racenet to look up the schedule or would that spoil the surprise?
Must admit I’m struggling with this ‘one shot’ system, as someone who hasn’t played many rally games the slightest mistake is normally followed by several in succession as you realise it’s the only run you’re gonna get so a blind panic kicks in..
I know you’re going to say that it’s like that in real life rallies but we’re not playing at real life, it’s just a game at the end of a day, even just one allowed restart wouldn’t be too much to ask ? Anyways I’ll still plod on with it as I’m loving the game 🙈
After yesterday's dismal performance in Sardinia with its final surprise chicane I've taken no (or at least fewer) chances and set up a custom championship with the remaining stages so I can have at least one go-through before tackling the "real" thing.

Ofc now I've opened my big mouth everyone's going to do it and I'll drop in the rankings even further :D

Does anyone know if these Racenet times are showing your local time or is it GMT or something?

It took 6 days and 5 members of the EA customer support team but I've finally managed to get my EA account fixed and linked back up to my main PSN account. I'll be in for the next event. Phew!
I already went through that hell with GRiD Legends but stopped at two support people before I hit up the GTP thread and found out how to do it properly.

My local time is GMT and shows up as 12:45.

22 seconds of penalties, 'nuff said :ouch:
I hope you at least used an off the shelf vendor car and didn't build your own this time.

I don't think doing it myself was an option for my account, whenever I tried to sign in with my PSN account it was saying it was linked to an email address @disabled.ea.com with no option to change it anywhere ingame or on the site.

Yeah, that would've stopped me in my tracks, I think. My one was linked to an old email address that was thankfully still active so I was able to fiddle with the settings manually. Congratulations on your perseverance.

Trust me, I tried everything possible first. Talking to customer service is always the last resort 😂

Round 2 results are in! Congrats @Ali taking 1st place in the Hyundai i20n.

Round 2: Chile, Rio Claro.

@Dreadmed leads the way but plenty of points on the table with 2 stages to play.

Round 3 takes us to New Zealand in Rally1 machinery.

Lovely stage in New Zealand today, My Puma strangely seemed a bit more understeery than usual and I think I should have adjusted the final drive for some extra top-end but after my yeet into the trees yesterday I'm happy to just get a clean run. 😊👍

I found there to be more under steer on my run too. I wonder if it’s the more compacted gravel causing it?

I think that's the fastest stage I've ever driven in any rally game. 5 minutes of hanging on by the seat of my pants with a couple of crashes along the way. I need to lie down....

You should try Estonia 😜.

Ugh, I'm happy with my result and I hate that's the car that I'm apparently fairly quick in.

Rally1s are already on the "slightly too fast" side of comfortable in how hard you have to chuck it into most corners, and then whoever designed that hybrid system was clearly a massive troll. Feathering the throttle loses you the boost, so I find I end up dive bombing corners like a madman to regen off the braking then powering out and trying to keep my foot pinned much longer than I really want to while wrestling to keep this suddenly overpowered monstrosity in the same post code as the road surface.

It's fast, but it feels totally at odds with the smooth and calm style of rally that I enjoy where it feels like you and the car are flowing through the corners. 2/10, not a fan. Rally2s are a much nicer drive.

It's humbling to see the times you aliens are putting in at the top of the table. Single player tends to make the driver feel like a rally god GRiD Legends-style so these leagues serve as a much needed reality check. I could perhaps do with an advanced rally school with Scandi flick examples but I doubt even that'd help my game.

You're very kind, mate but there's always room for improvement no matter how good or bad a driver thinks he is. I still haven't watched the first Cars movie or that Grand Tour episode with Mika Hakkinen and James May in the forest... maybe they could give me some tips on how to kansei dorifto.

So long as we're all having fun, that's the important thing.

A little brown pants moment for me . Would have been a good run otherwise, but looking at sector times it seems I wasn't the only one that didn't manage to put a clean time in.

Despite the evidence to the contrary right above , Rally1 cars aren't as savage as I thought, loads of power but the handling and brakes are good enough to make it manageable, as long as you stay focused on the pace notes. I don't know how anyone can think about optimizing boost usage and regen though, I just drive as I normally would, got enough things to worry about as it is.

Now for the difficult task of choosing between the C4 and Xsara for the next stage...

The high speed round 3 is complete, and @Ali once again holds on for victory in the GR Yaris.

With 1 round to go, the championship standings look like this. @Ali surging up the leaderboard, but @Larzi- and @Dreadmed holding on in the top 2 positions, with @space_wadet not far behind, the final round in Finland is sure to be exciting.

With 1997-2011 World Rally Cars on display in the final round, car choice could prove critical on the fast yumps of the 1000 lakes rally.

I thought this'd be a nice short stage like the other ones...

IMG_20231112_133112.jpg

My pre race recce didn't stop me from taking an unscheduled trip into the trees on the first turn netting me a 5s penalty when I found the road again having inadvertently cut the corner. Looks like any ambitions I had of moving up the table are fin(n)ished :indiff:

It's a really fun stage to drive though and I guess the other drivers' times'll determine whether the C4 or Xsara is the better car for this stage.
