I really don't like the body work on the new Corvette. Way to many different edges, it just looks really weird, to me it lost the look of the C7 and almost just looks like one of those Supercars made by some random manufacturers.

We already had the Whelen car debuted like a couple weeks ago. :P The Valvoline was a complete surprise for the most part.👍

I did not see it in this thread or the "Production Car Based GT Racing Thread (CTSCC, PWC, etc).
Maybe another thread?

Anyway, yes it's older news.

I created the Production car thread to try and separate stuff like CTSCC and the lower tier PWC series out of this thread which lately focuses mainly on GT3, which is where these Vette's fit in.

Me likey!

You JUST beat me to the post...
Earlier tweet, more angles. Simply beautiful.

Wow, I did not expect those colors 👍

Not bad but...

Somebody rip those V8T's outta those panzer's and get Z4's V8 in there. Disgusting.

Ahem:

Just wanted to remind you that this roaring sound is also a V8 Turbo (since you apparently hate Turbo anything going by your posts in the IMSA thread)

And since you've brought it up (And since I feel like making someone squirm):

Not exactly "quiet" or silent as you sensationally put it. Sure it isn't the one from the Z4 but after watching that race at Misano, its actually grown on me and now that I think about it, its actually Kinda reminds me of this.

Well, a lucky opportunity for those of you that like the Pirelli World Challenge: The race from Long Beach is both Live on World Challenge.com AND on CBS Sports Network Right now. You're spoiled for choice (unlike us IMSA fans).

Edit: Whoops, spoke too soon:

With CBS Sports Network carrying the broadcast on Sunday, there will be no live streaming of the Round 5 race via www.world-challenge.com and www.motortrendondemand.com.

I forgot about the PWC race...

I've said it MANY times before. There are good turbos, and their are very bad turbos. The Bentley I've ALWAYS HAVE SAID is the good kind of turbo, its exhaust note ignores those stupid things under the hood. The Nissan and Cadillac GT3's and Indycar's are also examples of good turbos. A good turbo enhances an engine's exhaust. Most car's with a turbo built before 2010 sound good, if not most of them. These new "efficient" turbo's are a mixed bag. They're either like F1 cars and are junk, or they are like the Bentley and scream. Another example would be Subaru's flat-4 turbo, which is like a V8 that's been cut in half.

The BMW M6 is an example of a bad turbo. The turbos on the M6 absolutely kill the sound of the car, even inside it's distgusting, only get a low rumble and some whoosing noises.

Well, technology is moving forward, loud does not mean fast.

But fast can be loud. Bentley, Indycar and the Porsche 919 have proven that (all turbos). And road car/track car wise, the Porsche 918 and McLaren P1 have also proven that. And the M6 hasn't been all that much faster than the Z4.

The Ferrari 488 GTB isn't too bad either, while its not as the 458...the GTE/3 has a rallycar turbo chirp.

And among other non-GT counter parts. WRC and WRX cars are also amazing turbos.

I never realized turbo's are installed for noise. Now I understand what makes a turbo amazing or not, the sound.

To my liking the best sounding car was the LMP Aston Martin that Lord Drayson used. After that the RX8 from Speedsource (current Mazda DP team) and the current Porsche's (any class).

Nothing beats N/A engines. Just have a raw evil noise that can't be produced by turbos.

Speaking of Porsche, as time goes by, the more I've grown to love the beauty that is a Porsche flat-6 at full chat. Such an iconic noise in sports car racing. The note has changed subtly over time but its still that same sweet note.

I'll agree it's not at the level of the old Z4's, but its the result of an interesting engineering solution BMW applied to the road cars engine... and it really won't change no matter how often you keep mentioning it.

No but I'm bitter. :P I still find it weird that the engine sounds almost nothing like the road car. Not even a (in this case) quieter version. Sounds almost like a car from Gran Turismo.

So I am participating in the Competition102 European GT4 Series in 2016 and I'd like to introduce this project here. We are part of the Reiter Young Stars program by Reiter Engineering (Yes, that's the company with that insane Camaro GT3 in the ADAC GT Masters). In this program, we are one of 8 teams with the KTM X-BOW GTR and will compete in a one-make series inside the GT4 European Series.

The point about this new program is, that three students (2 engineers and one marketing/management student) were assigned (randomly) to two young drivers. In our case, it is Jamie Vandenbalck (young Belgian talent) and Laura Kraihamer (young Austrian talent). We get all the responsibilities that a "regular" Race engineer/Team manager has, just without any experience.

In our team, I am doing the management/marketing job. Our first race is in the pre-program of the Blancpain Series in Monza this weekend and we students have never been to a racetrack for professional motorsports before. If you are interested, I would start a new thread and writing about this experience as a newcomer in motorsports with inside views and thoughts (and pictures!) of a team manager and the race engineers as well as our progress. We have 5 races this season (Monza, Pau, Spa, Hungary and Zandvoort).

Anyone interested in this? I'd start a new thread in the next 2-3 days and describe our experience! If you want to see our car/drivers, just head over to our Facebook page

Good luck to you and the team! :gtpflag:

That's definitely very awesome.
So this is a project from/by your university? May I ask you where you are studying?

It's a project by Reiter Engineering and they contacted our Formula Student Team (Formula student is a racing series for students which compete on differents races each year) to look for students. We are officially representing our University (Saarland University in Saarbrücken) in the series, the other 7 teams are from all accross Europe (with Aachen and bayreuth from Germany too).
