Thanks. I'm going to start a thread asking for help. ... Maybe there will be some experts here who can come up with some suggestions.
@StirlingMoose , wow, pretty disappointing that no one responded. Googled “GT Sport stuck in Auto-Drive” and there are others having this issue. Anyway, I ordered a cat 5 cable so I can have a wired network connection by Saturday. We’ll see if that solves the issue.

Yeah, I saw that other people are having the same problem but no definitive solution. I guess nobody knows how to solve it, hence no replies to my call for help. The only possible solution I saw was to do with a static IP address. I had my PS4 plugged directly into the modem/router and I know my ISP dynamically allocates IP addresses so my first thought was to try it plugged into my own router. If you're around tomorrow maybe we could try it. I'm around most of the day so let me know if you've got a few minutes to have a go. I've got a family Christmas thing on Sat so won't be able to race unfortunately.

Hello guys, last Saturday I remembered to save a couple of replays, which is rare for me! :D
Yesterday I looked at them and I realized that something is wrong with the tires. Probably, given my old age, I have not yet figured out how the tire change works, when there is a mandatory pit stop.
You young people :boggled: must have some patience with an old man like me and explain better how I should do or, if you use some abbreviation (pitstopbrb?), What is its meaning.
If, alternatively, you want to give me some advantage .... I'll take it!
Meanwhile, I start to wish Christmas for everyone!

I really need a race engineer to tell me what to do because I am hopeless at race strategy. I usually just blast round until I run out of fuel or the tyres give out then panic because I don't know where the pit entry is. Once I've found the pits I panic again because I haven't worked out which tyres are the best to use and how much fuel to take on. Sometimes I press the wrong button and go out on the same shot tyres or with an empty tank. I don't think I can be much help to you, Cal.

:lol: I've been suffering with that since I joined Geezer's Club:banghead:. But I've learn some :P. The tires we've been using are Racing Soft all the time so you have to change to the same set of tires that you begin the race with. PitStopBRB means that he is going to the bathroom and will Be Right Back (BRB):lol::lol: Marry Xmas to you too...

Sterling,
being a newbie here, I'm hesitant... but
I ran endurance races in GT 4. Old school, I know, but. Testing.

If you use a "basic stable" of cars that'll help. Take one set of tires. Time trial as if you were trying for pole. How long do they last ? How long are your "typical race ?" How long do they last if you back off once they start squeeling ?

Next set: wash and repeat.
Distance racing is done backwards. How much car do you want at the end ? What lap would that be ? How do I get to that point ? Sometimes "slower" is really faster.

Once you have a feel for each set, on each car. Ya, I know, sigh.
then it becomes second nature. You learn not to sweat the distance from the pack. You live and die on what you've planned. If it doesn't work - why didn't it ? Make some tweaks.

Distance, multiple pit stops, takes a certain need to inflict pain to oneself. Its not about the start, hell, it's not evern about the other drivers. Not until the closing laps. It's like chess. You may pit on lap 3 and everyone else goes until 7. Does the gamble pay off ?

That's what I can offer. A race engineer ? no - someone who's done a stupid amount of time in a cockpit back in the day ? anyway, i hope this sheds some light.

I will help you with strategy not too bad at it.

@oldphart Thanks for the advice. I have a lot to learn when it comes to endurance racing. In GT6 I mostly did time trials and quick matches so never bothered to learn this stuff. I'm particularly bad at ovals. Being a Brit it's not part of my culture - the first time I'd watched an oval race was this year's Indy 500 (because Alonso) and I have a hard time appreciating that being in the lead isn't the best place to be.

Thanks, mate. You can be my race engineer if you like.

In other news I had a quick test with @nordschleife51 today and we were both on track at the same time with no auto drive. Fingers crossed for some trouble-free racing next time.

Happy holidays chaps - see you in the new year.

No problems with your testing - (insert long and loud applause!) and a huge YEAYYYY  :):) (yes, fingers crossed!) 👍👍

'ol duce is Wishing all a MOST Merry Christmas :), a MOST Healthy holiday season for we Geezers :sly: and our loved ones :), and a MOST Prosperous New Year 👍👍

@Stewyripper Thanks for the advice today - really useful. I went back later and got Interlagos, using the 10 minute tip. I just went flat-out in ten minute stints and started the last lap with a good lead but only 0.9 laps of fuel left. Backed off a bit on the final lap and crossed the line at the exact moment the fuel went to zero. I can't imagine how many attempts it would have taken me otherwise. 👍
