I see... Thats a whole new system and a game. And a wheel if you want to enjoy it the way I am; the force feedback is strong in GTS and gives me good information.

This is why it is not good to misinform, overrate or underrate games. people have to spend money; and reviews should be done right without the bias.
That's funny because all the people I know and trust tell me GTS has the worst FFB of all the games available on the PS. Some aspects, like road detail, are almost non-existent. There are also issues with TM wheels as well.

Reviews are never done without bias. The entire point of a review is to share your personal opinion of a game while highlighting the actual content.

You are aware that the article is not talking about the recent Battlefront game coming out right? It's talking about a game that was slated to release in 2019, that is now getting delayed. https://www.polygon.com/2017/10/17/16490960/ea-closing-visceral-games-star-wars-game-delayed

From the article:

A broader experience, as the the game focused on purely single player aspects, isn't achieved by removing aspects of it, but expanding it. It sounds to me like in addition to the single player story mode, there's going to be additional multiplayer aspects in hope that it add's to the longevity of the game.

I am aware of that, yes. That game--the one that's repurposed--is/was a SP focused game from Amy Hennig.

FFB is strong but unfortunately doesn't give good information. No need to be defensive and suggest otherwise, it's something that needs to be tweaked.

The penalties those drivers received in the race you referred to demonstrated that they couldn't succeed so I'm not sure how you can say the system does not work at all.
They succeeded above a number of other drivers who didn't incur any penalties at all.

We are less than 24 hours into the games existence in our part of the world so it may be premature to say the system will not have a positive influence on driving standards. I raced extensively during the closed beta period and I witnessed a significant general improvement as time progressed so I'll keep an open mind for a while longer before writing the system off altogether.
I raced extensively during the closed beta and the demo, and the system hasn't changed since then, the same issues exist now as they did then (and given that its not difficult to game the safety ranking system unless that changes then its not going to improve either).

I've also not written the system off, I've said that it needs work and for some car class and track combos it doesn't work, because it doesn't.

You may well be fine with how it is, but others aren't and given that those that get put off may well not continue with the pain and unfairness the current system offers. Its compounded now with the news that the 'daily' events only change on a weekly basis, meaning that a very poor class and track combo will be running for a week!

Your issue should be with @CopperySinger because he said the exact opposite of you concerning FFB. They've had 4 years to work on the FFB including a 1 year release delay, why would anyone believe it's going to be tweaked?

And from the sound of it, it still very much has that single player experience. Reading that one and going off the article you posted, it sounds like it's expanding and broadening, not removing aspects. Those quotes I posted on that article very much reflect that, in my opinion.

It might, but whether that will be the focus--and MTs, services, etc. are added--will remain to be seen. I just wouldn't be as quick as you are in thinking we aren't on a horizon for this, because the signs are all there IMO.

Like I've said plenty of times, it may be the direction that gaming is heading with expanding the longevity of games, but it is no where close as to you saying that it's going to happen this year, or even next year. Hell this was going to release in 2019 as a pure single player game but now game is now going to be pushed farther than 2019 and still looks to have a significant singleplayer experience, going off what they say, instead of the purely online games you're comparing it to.

I'm referring to him or others, sorry if there was an misunderstanding. I have no idea whether they will tweak it or not, as this is my first time playing GT with a wheel.

Correction, this means that good class and track combo's will be running for a week! I see it as a positive review, this way people will have plenty of time to learn the tracks and by the end of the week, they will gain the experience to do some fine racing on those tracks.

Oh dear.

The 2nd reviewer works for SMS. He posts poor reviews of anything not called PCARS.
Interesting that you point that out and yet have no comment on the first review.

Yep, read his PC2 review first before reading anything into that.

I can't think of better examples of why extremes — at both ends — should be ignored.

The language in both is so obviously one-sided. And at least one of them is literally on the payroll of another developer.

.

Why is it interesting? someone on Twitter recently referred to that website so the name struck a bell. He told me other things about it too, but I can't verify it.

Pretend Race Cars is a ****ing joke, I don't know why he is being posted here when he is obviously an SMS fanboy.

Also, why in the **** are there people talking about Visceral's closing in a GTS review thread? That has the smallest bearing on a racing sim.

The first one is right and the second one got it wrong.

sarcasm

It really says a lot how much of a tire fire this section of the forum is going to be over the next while, even compared to what it was before release and during beta. Hell, it's sort of one in this very thread right now. I don't envy the moderators.

The first one is right and the second one got it wrong.

FFS, stop.

What's this now?

Pretend Race Cars is literally sponsored by SMS for his short track speedway exploits. And his reviews of anything that isn't PCARS and is a big sim title leans towards PCARS.

Also, he really hates iRacing.

Those so called professional reviews remind me of how the news reports politics. Not worth any consideration imho. However, reading all the threads and posts in this forum that are both positive and negative and even some that are bias can be a better source of formulating your own personal opinion wether you wish to buy the game or pass. So far from reading almost everyone's threads I'm personally happy I didn't pre run out and buy anything or any new equipment and I'll continue to wait and see what happens before handing my money over. Patience is a virtue so it seems at least for me.

I agree. I put much more weight into some of the more respected members here, positive and negative, than those reviews from gamesites. One reason being that I feel some here have a better understanding of things than what some of those reviewers do, and know what to look into.

It's not perfect but I'm really liking it, it needs more content but I happy with the direction to game is going.

For me it's the lack of tracks, that's the most important part when it comes to the longevity of a racing game. I can forgive the lack cars, mostly because a game could have 1000 cars but I would still only use 20-30 of them. Looking back on FM - which I played for nearly the past 10 years - hundreds of cars in the game is good on paper and nice to look at but they all feel relatively the same. All those cars coupled with the upgrading system makes them only feel like shells with no individuality other than looks. I owned and played GT1-6 and FM2-6 and I can honestly that style of game is very cliche and boring to me at this point.

I came back to PS for this game, and i'm glad I did. I think if they would have went with another car collecting game I doubt I would be back after a long break from this series.
