Interesting. It doesn't appear to match any part of the car though. I can't quite make out what it might be though.
It looks like its the roofline and front or rear window of a car from the 70s to me...

So, based on nothing at all but speculation...

GT7 reveal at PS Experience, to be released in Q1/Q2 2016?

:D:D:D
More like Q3 or Q4. But yeah... don't get on the hype train yet though.

I'm personally expecting a trailer at PSX in December, or E3 in June 2016. I would say private venue too, but they don't have the anniversary excuse this time.

Edit: PSX is December 6th, which is the release date of GT6... Maybe we will get a final plan for GT6 if there's nothing for GT7... it feels like PD will be there though.

Yeah, seems more reasonable. I get the feeling PSX will be a perfect place to announce GT7 - Gran Turismo is the quintessential PlayStation franchise, arguably.

They may has well go all out and release the next GT in December. The hype and amazement that would create would be spectacular.

I don't think so... they'll want to advertise for a few months on advance.

Could have broken the news a little more gently :(

In all seriousness (I know it isn't likely to be released this year) GT is PlayStation and doesn't really require advertising but know what you mean.

I'd imagine if PD announced it was coming this year (in my dreams) then they wouldn't need to advertise. It would be world news!

*and wakes up*

The earliest we can possibily expect it is 5 to 6 months from whatever day it is. So for today March is probably the earliest we will see it.
Kaz said in an interview with an Italian journalist that GT7 would be out before 2017, so yeah, either November-December or earlier in the year. Like GTPorsche, I expect it to be out in the Holiday season of 2016.

What are the chances of the course maker appearing in the next update, alongside the new VGT cars? If that was the case then GT6 would be completed, opening the door to the announcement of GT7. It has after all been a while since the previous update....

I reckon PDI have split into two teams - a skeleton crew to finish off GT6, and a much larger team to work on GT7. Most of the effort is being poured into GT7 now, hence the length of time since the last update and the reduction of the amount of seasonal events.

I just wonder for how long the next GT has been in development...

Since before or around the time of GT6, I would reckon. I remember reading on GTPlanet's news page a while back that Polyphony Digital were involved closely with the hardware development of the PS4 - I wouldn't be surprised if they influenced the hardware to suit the development of GT7, being a historically high-selling title that could have a significant positive impact on Sony's finances. Also, consider the fact PDI were really up against it developing GT5 on PS3, so I wouldn't be surprised if that played into the development of the PS4. Give it the chance to succeed, and it'll do phenomenally well.

Talks about GT on PS4 started a few months prior to GT6's release. In November, an industry insider had apparently observed a GT7 tech demo http://gearnuke.com/gran-turismo-come-early-next-year-says-kazunori/

If they have been developing all this time, then the 2016 release target seems realistic enough. If GT on PS4 is released in late 2016, they would have spent a good three years worth of time. However, as this is a PS4 release, development time might be cut down to two and a bit years.

Some people talked about how PD outsourced most of GT6 , leading to the poor carrer structure abd some other stuff. Maybe that can be the case and hopefully they have had the time to properly make the game and come back with a bang.

Outsourced might not be the term (I know PDI have a staunch policy of keeping their work in-house), but it felt like a kind of "let's chuck this together to keep people happy and earn a quick buck", worked on by a small team, with a minimal budget (possibly due to GT5's insane budget) whilst all the real effort went into GT7. It almost felt like it wasn't a real GT main series entry, and by the far weakest effort overall for a GT game. It felt even more lightweight than something like GT5 Prologue or GTPSP. I mean, even GT5, despite its almost infinitely long development cycle and oddly rushed and sloppy feel, was a great game overall with real depth and longevity, but GT6 felt even more rushed and lazy. It doesn't really feel like the real sequel to GT5, which I think was always meant to be GT7.

The car and track models are made up to good standard (so they can re-use in GT7) , but yeah , they didn't put a lot of work and passion on the rest of it. Even so , it's the only game that prevents my PS3 from getting dusty.

They redid their rendering engine so, hardly.

What is more likely is that they started development for GT6 and it ended up crawling into the PS4 launch window (of course Polyphony and Kaz knew about the PS4 hardware early on), so they just ended up torn between releasing and supporting it and starting development of the next iteration concurrently.
They may not have started full-on development as soon as other games like Infamous/DC have, but they certainly had access to the hardware to start building their tools and testing.
Either way it was a full staff project at the least til release.

I agree, I've been enjoying it immensely - but compared to GT5, it didn't feel like a proper game so much as a combined cash-grab and a weird beta test for GT7.

True. In light of that, I think it was wrong I said it was a lazy rush job. I do feel as though the improvements compared to the sequel on the same platform in previous generations (GT1 -> GT2, GT3 -> GT4) were much greater than in GT5 to GT6.

With every big studio under SCE revealing or teasing their PS4 project in one way or another, why is it that a big in-house studio like PD hasn't even teased anything yet, almost 2 years in PS4's life?

I'd say GT6's problem lies in expected support, content-wise at release it had plenty over GT5 and it was a big jump technically too.
But PS4 was at the door and they moved on, so that gives the perception that current support is just duty fulfillment, which well, it is true.

After the long labour GT5 had I guess they want to leave announcing until very close to release.

Having said that Naughty Dog said they wouldn't be giving anymore early release dates after Uncharted 3 then again after a small problem with The Last of Us and AGAIN with Uncharted 4...and STILL announced a release date 7 months in advance!

Gluttons for punishment these devs are. And PD are masters at it...But just maybe Polyphony have had an epiphany!

I expect a December 31st release like most others on here. but a useful way to answer "If we get a trailer tomorrow, what is the earliest it will be released." 6 months sounds about right.

Can't show what isn't ready yet.

I still expect a release date of 2nd Quarter 2016, in fact, I think with rumors suggesting No Mans Sky's release date has been pushed out of 2015 and into 2016 due to Morpheous/Playstation VR 2nd Quarter 2016 launch, I kind of expect Sony to trojan horse Playstation VR/Morpheous to the core market using Gran Turismo 7. I say expect GT7 to release also in 2nd Quarter 2016.
With that said, I also expect news to be hitting frequently after the reveal. So I still feel we will get:

A GT7 teaser at Paris Games Week.
A gameplay trailer at Playstation experience.
A Playstation VR/Morpheous demo of GT7 at CES 2016 in January.
Then general car reveal trailers until release.
