Yeah, because cameras don't naturally pick up more light than what is actually there.

The room is dark. To hide the PS4 and it's accessories.
Does that look dark? Okay, maybe they dimmed the lights when they showed the DS4 and such, but the room isn't dark at first.

SCE is obviously hesitant in showing any details about the actual 'virtual' side to the latest VGT cars. I mean, are they coming to GT6? Will we get a PS4 tech demo or both? They are refusing to release any information about it... the question is, why?

It's no good having two virtual race cars that we can't race in virtual reality. They are almost certainly waiting to announce something....

Just wanted to say, remember with GT5, Kaz said it was to use a new engine, like an OS to use for the future? Its obvious he and the Sony banked on the Ps3 cell architecture. Originally, PS3 was to have 2 or even 4 Cell clusters. They hoped PS4 would basically use many more clusters.

Then with GT6, they announced they had a new engine thats different from GT5 to use in future GTs. Everything Ive said is common knowledge, but I just wanted to remind you guys of this.
In early 2013, February or so, when they first announced the PS4, Kaz had a part of a video snippet on the screen as being part of the devs that gave input into Ps4.
As far back as 2011 and 2012 there were rumors of PS4 being X86 and ditching Cell. So I really wont be surprized if GT7 was being made from early 2011 or so.

I would believe that. I get the feeling PDI kind of gave up on the PS3 to an extent, in order to go for broke on the PS4, a system architecture they can pull way more performance out of, with comparatively less effort. Most of the changes made for GT6 were under the hood, almost more for Polyphony's benefit than for ours.

GT6 felt as though it had two purposes:
1. Make some quick cash.
2. Work on elements for the future. You see, aside from the physics, a lot of the stuff that was advertised for GT6 was not stuff that excites the end user, but I imagine it would be the sort of thing enormously useful for a developer. Things like a compact, fast code base, that can easily be updated with significant changes on the fly are critical to streamlined game development, but aren't huge news for us in the same way that "new cars" and "more tracks" would be.

Yip, CELL, 256MB split ram. I love it, but the PS3 is a frankenstein machine. Remember how they hoped to have youtube upload etc in GT5? Things PS4 does out the box. That leaves more time for them to make the literal game GT7, as the social features can be implemented on PS4 at an OS level.
 
GT6 was basically like hitting a brick wall, because the hardware just wouldn't evolve any further.

The PS3 era of Gran Turismo is undoubtedly the darkest the series has ever seen. The PS3 was criticized for being extremely difficult to develop games with. Gabe Newell from Valve went as far as saying the PS3 was a 'waste of everyone's time'. http://www.wired.com/2007/10/valves-gabe-new/

Of all the developers that worked with the PS3, Polyphony Digital were by far the most ambitious. Unfortunately, that ambition turned into a painful grind to get things done: hence why GT5 took five years to make.

The PS4 on the other hand has been designed with developing ease in mind.

In theory, Gran Turismo on PS4 should continue where Gran Turismo 4 left off in terms of developing efficiency.

Not only that, but there were loads of features planned for GT5 that never made the cut in the end. A prime example being the livery editor. There was a screen posted somewhere on this site: a presentation that bullet pointed all the planned features for GT5. Many of them didn't make it in the end. Does anyone have that screen or know where it is?

Edit: Nico has posted it. We can see Kaz's face more clearly! :D
What are the chances of these features appearing in GT on PS4? It's not like they've considered them for nearly a decade or anything? ;)

Also freeroaming. Kaz mentioned freeroaming where you follow traffic rules too. How awesome would this be. A decent sized city to drive in and with avatars so you can meet people online and have a streetmeet, and be able to walk around the cars and take pictures. :cheers:

Makes me wonder what exactly they will show in the unveiling trailer for GT on PS4, which could be soon...

Frankly, that's one of the best explanation of the root cause of the problems of GT on PS3. A complex hardware configuration that didn't always allow developers to reap the benefits, because it wasn't powerful enough to justify the effort. Polyphony seem to work in a very specific way, managing to achieve tremendous results only on hardware suited to them. The PS2 was clearly very highly regarded by Polyphony, both in what Kaz said in interviews, and in their output on the system. GT3 was a stunningly good looking game, pushing some advanced physics at a rock-solid 60fps. I suspect the PS3 came at a shock to their development processes which they never really recovered from. When PDI are happy with the hardware, they can not only be ambitious in their vision, but have the confidence they can execute it - like in the PS2 days.

The PS4 is a a huge breath of fresh air compared to the suffocating, stagnant air of the PS3. I do believe Kaz when he says the PS4 can provide "an incredible difference" for GT.

Imagine this. You see a nice car. Perhaps an R35. You see it approach a red light on a street in Tokyo. It turns left. It drives in to a parking lot with a few modified cars with a few decals(confirming livery editor) and a few people. Camera changes to low behind the door of the R35. The door opens. The person steps out of the car, you see his feet. Camera changes to reveil the person, but only for a sec. It's Kaz. Screen turns black, a white GT logo appears and the trailer moves on like a normal GT trailer does. Leaving you with your jaw dropped, and think "did I just see Kaz.. at a streetmeet??" :scared::eek: :D

Brilliant! Just to add one tiny detail..., Kaz has a Playstation VR headset confirming we can do it all in VR.

Quick query: Is this image from the Bugatti website the real car or a render?

Looks like a render. Finer details like the tyres and brake discs look a teeny bit off, plus the lighting looks a bit "GT-ish". I'm not sure it's worth taking a picture of the real car to edit it to look like a render, so I would assume it's a render.
