The "vacuum cleaner" era is slowly coming to an end.

R.I.P. :(

With the new sounds for GT Sport, they made all the vacuum cleaners die a brutal death and a renaissance of sound is sure to be incoming.

What I really like about the sounds are the sounds of the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat (has an epic supercharger whine) and the Renault R.S. 01, as well as the turbo blow-off valve sounds on both the R.S. 01 and the BMW M6 GT3. They're made to sound nearly as realistic as possible, judging by some videos of the real-life car's sound and with GT Sport's new sound design.

They just need to fix the shifting sounds and then, with some work left to be done, then all the cars are likely to sound better than when some have appeared in Forza and/or any other game.

It also seems that PD would have a lot of trouble replicating the Bugatti Vision GT's sound (since in the game, the Bugatti Vision GT doesn't sound anything like its real-life version, but still sounds pretty cool), despite what PD uses is a "sound simulation system" for the cars.

Don't forget the backfire sounds. Even GT4 had that. I miss it.

Oh and I have some night and rain racing news!

High Speed Ring night and rain racing :sly:

Yeah so again that highlights it, much better for GT over past games but Forza just has so much more going on in the sound, it doesn't sound so one dimensional and synthetic.

Agree, but the GT sound in that car is a little bit more closer to the real one.

Still, is a mistery to me why they took so long to have a decent audio. This is need for speed high stakes, 17 years ago, and still has a better sound

It really blows my mind

Lol, you actually make a good point. I wouldn't say it's better. But it's darn good to be such an old game, that's for sure

The sound of the Hellcat in GTS is closer to the real one I'd say compared to Forza.

The only problems with GTS like I said is the shifting sounds, the thump inbetween upshifts, road noise, tyre noise, wind noise, induction noise and the fact the sounds are too enclosed, they don't spread out.

If it ends up being something similar to Driveclub while at the same time capturing the visceral nature of Project CARS then we'll have a winner on our hands.

A 911 that sounds like a V8. Exactly how is that better?

That doesnt sound to me like a v8 at all. And it has that metallic feeling of a tipycal 6 cylinders porsche engine.

I agree it doesnt sound very accurate, but it is about what Samus said. In terms of life, the sound of GT is still pretty poor. And amaze me how the deceased EA Canada achieved 17 years ago that life and brutality in the sound and GT still cant reproduce.

PS: Sorry about posting too many non GT gameplays. Dont know how to post the link without the video in the thread.

Just post it like this. Mark the word, hit the link button (looks like a chain) and then insert the link.
Or you know, you could do this - hit the button next to the camera and hit Spoiler.

I don't mind seeing a little NFS action though. It's not like you went that far off topic. You had GTS vs NFS intentions, which is basically what we do here. We compare GTS to AC, DC, Forza ++ so why not NFS.

Thanks a lot! I forgot the spoilers.

I guess they must have turned in a new leaf I presume?
Indeed, they have. Up to Forza 4, the sounds were indeed too oversaturated, but with FM5 and especially 6 (at least from what I remember from YouTube videos), the sounds became much more realistic, even if that resulted in much tamer car sounds (which I don't mind, if they sound more realistic).
Unfortunately, something strange has happened at the sound department during FH3 development, as many cars use the same sound samples and don't sound anything like their FM counterparts.

GT Sport's sound in the comparison video certainly is closer to the real life thing than what I'd expect, but the supercharger whine still seems too soft. It's a start, and certainly not the same as the wheezy GM V6 noises PD used for the Corvette race cars in the PS3 games. Will be interesting to see how it compares over a fuller range of use, though: both games are used in a pretty binary, on/off way.

What's interesting to me watching the Road America video is how similar the speeds are in some corners to what they are in game for the Hellcat (though most of them are taken slower, for obvious reasons).

Also, I have very fond memories of the original High Stakes. It's very strange to watch it back these days: why are there telephone booths multiple times the size of an entire car?!

Really? I haven't noticed this, they sound fine to me. Maybe it's just me?

You Sir are correct.
BUT,
These appear when not accelerating hard or braking,
Leading me to believe it's Stability Control or SRF
It's an ASM, SRF isn't an aid, it's a childy physics mode which makes me believe there's no reason to make it a flashable aid.

So is this game only going to have 3 tracks? I find it rather odd that we have been seeing the same tracks in every trailer and at every event. They must be really far behind...
