Wooooh. My dads birthday is that day. (Geir, who happens to be on my GT tattoo.) since me and my dad played GT a lot before he died, and I continued the tradition after he died, I gotta say I feel like PGW could be the one. Call me weird, call me dumb, but I got good response from SCEA and PD and Andrew Comrie Picard because of my story (if you guys saw the GT6 livestream you most lilely saw my tattoo there too), so I like to believe my tattoo and m my dad has super powers this time. I sound so dumb I know but please don't flame me. I just want to believe in it. Please let me.

It doesn't sound daft to me, because I can be oddly superstitious like that too. The amount of events I can think of that have happened to me that were foreshadowed by dreams or weird coincidences is a strangely high one. Of course, it's all probably just coincidence, but at the same time, it's weird.

For your sake, I hope GT7 is revealed on that day too, as it sounds like it means an immense deal to you. :)👍

@chzsln485 Yeah exactly! Haha :D

And yeah I sure hope so. If so I'll seriously write Kaz a thank you letter. And write my story. Haha. And yep, it sure means a lot! I wouldn't be the man I am today if it wasn't for my dad. And man, playing GT with him was a blast. Always since then I always felt this warm presence inside me when I play GT. Like my dad is here with me. I play it not only for myself, but for him too you know. :)

If it is shown at PGW, it can be released as early as April. :) but I don't think it will be shown at PGW.

What do you guys think about a super bowl reveal? Last year Nissan revealed it's LMP1 in its 90 second spot and we all know how strong GTs ties are with Nissan.

...Waaay too expensive.

Here's the fun part: "A 30-second advertisement during this year's game costs a cool $4.5 million. That's an average of $150,000 per second."

A PGW announcement is higly possible in my eyes, for those few reasons:
- Sony's next major press conference will be held at PGW
- Europe's biggest GT market

Damn. I'm pumped for those last three months of the year. :)

And by the way: this thread is awesome. :gtpflag:

GT7 release or sneak peak without VR would be mediocre at best. There's too many better games out there now to just put out another GT game. To say VR isn't going to be a big deal in the next year or two is ludicrous. It'll be the only thing that can put GT ahead once again. They've completely lost focus of what the GT series was proven by all the VGT crap we see now and lack of updates with things the community has been asking for for years now.

I would bet Sony will not let this game go until the VR headset is ready and GT is ready for the VR headset. Too big a name and too perfect an application to let it go without.

A VR set would be really cool for In car mode... But they are expensive... I don't think they will sell many... but it could replace triple screen set ups quite well...

So you're saying GT7, which you haven't even seen, won't be good without a new technology with quite a few teething problems because PD have shifted focus to GT7 from GT6? Erm...

It would be awesome if VR could replace the in game wheel with our real wheel with a camera and some selective software... we would be able to see our own hand movements too so it would be like we were actually in the car... but that would take some extra work... and id rather them just focus on more important things. Although vr may become important for GT8 or GT9.

Wouldn't seeing our own hand movements need a motion capturing sensor and gloves? That could get very costly.

A camera would work, like a cell phone camera built into the front of the VR that had software that was able to identify and isolate things.

I'm not saying VR is required to play GT7 but it has to have the capability.

Yes I am saying GT7 won't be good without a new technology. PD is out of touch and has been for a while. Their track record of listening to the community is abysmal at best. There's companies doing it better than PD now, so either they crap or get off the pot.

You haven't even seen GT7 though. That's my main problem with your post.

So the new new GT might be super realistic , all cars and tracks imaginable , etc , but won't be good without VR support? Uhm ... ok

But... what would be the point?
To be able to select things from the environment to be used in the game. Mostly for wheel users obviously, so we could see our own wheel, instead of the animated one. Or to help figure out where we set down our DS4. :D

That seems like way more work than it'd ever be worth. I mean, what's wrong with having the car's steering wheel on screen?

I don't know... but it's an option developers have, and I'm fairly certain that it will be a feature in VR, even if it's not in this generation. :)

What's wrong with using a big LCD instead of a VR headset? :)

But if you are seeing the virtual wheel through VR you don't need to see your actual wheel, you'll have your hands on it....

As Tired Tyres (confusingly) put

It just seems like a waste of effort.

And I don't remember saying there wasn't anything wrong with an LCD screen.

Lag for one thing. The lag between your inputs and the render on the screen is enough to throw me off. I always turn the wheel off. The lag for changing gears is always way off as well. I agree it's too much work for too little return, but some kind of sensor that detected your actual steering and gear change inputs and rendered them instantly would be a nice feature. If you could get the timing down to a few ms it would be indistinguishable from your real hands and inputs.

There's no way to predict when the player decides to change gear. For every player who changes at the right time there will be someone who doesn't.

As for steering - I find that setting controller sensitivity to 7 (Yes I know it's supposed to only be for Joypads) make the virtual wheel match my actual wheel.

The problem with gear changes is that games usually have the hand leaving the gear after each gear change so the virtual hand isn't in place when you do a quick downshift through the gears. He's moving his hand off the knob or paddles and back to the wheel, while you're going 4-3-2 in a hurry. Something that would definitely help is an AI approach, where the game learns your tendencies at that particular track/car combination and adjusts your Bob accordingly. These small touches are going to be necessary, IMO, to really make the VR approach immersive in sim racing. Last thing I want is to buy this cool headset and be saying, "this would be so much better if...". I don't want to wait another generation for the "if" to be solved:mad:
