Even though the GTR is the go to car for grp4, I have a hard time not picking the Genesis...

A N300 race at the Ring, from last week, I think. Probably a good representation of why my SR is now S, and my DR is still C. A combo of being too nice, and too slow.

I should have trim that video down more.

I understand your point and I agree, the rolling start at the Nürburgring is not solved very well, but even if the Auto Drive brings you near the start, the last section and the section with the starting places would be the same bottleneck.
We don't have the luxury of the 24H race with a 5 car wide finish line to start from. And we don't have all professional drivers out there. I saw the starts of the 24H Nürburgring with 40 cars heading full speed into the first corners of the GP course, just wow. There where no accidents if I remember correctly.
But you can't make that in an virtual racing game. You have people with wheels, others with controllers. You have people who know their cars and the track, others don't. You have different setups for the cars (different brake points, all sorts of reactions from different cars).
There always be chaos in open online races I think.

I dunno about chaos, people I've been getting matched with are mostly civilised, and you get to know who is merely 'aggressive', who is clumsy, and who is just plain dirty. Most are happy to play a longer game with patience, in my experience.

From a standing start at, say, BHGP it only takes one or two fools to wreck almost everyone's race. Rolling start really improved the N300 races I did there today.

At the 'ring I think it makes it worse than standing start, as it's done currently, that's all I'm saying.

And yeah, we're not all pro's, different controls, etc, and there will always be rubbing that goes wrong and so on. BUT when one is able to charge up the inside at T2 of Brands, ramming whoever happens to be there and continue on 4 or 5 places up - with no consequences - there will be those who do :(

Last time I looked (one hour ago) there was a SLS on 1st place. But the top ten usually changes a lot in the first hours.

Oh I know. I take what I can. I'm not usually even in the top 10 :) Great that we're seeing a mix of cars in contention :)

I'm doing a live feed if anyone wants to jump on and race

I actually had a really good time running these races times are in video description for race starts

Dissapointed they didn't add any crowds to Tokyo Expressway, they could fit on the sides of the track at the straights and the tunnel exits.
As always, I keep telling myself it's a WIP but I have very high expectations for city tracks. This gen, the Rio track in Forza 6 is the best track to showcase a game.

Today I got my SR to a S and I hope that my races also get less chaotic. I once received a mail from a guy on PSN who was complaining about my silly behaviour in the race we had. I tried to explain that sometimes you don't have a chance to have a clean race, because of some fools who are pushing and ramming on purpose. Especially in the lower rankings the races are battlefields. But I think some people are just don't want to race clean, or they don't know how. And they don't care about their rankings.

For me the rolling starts are a reward. A reward for a good qualifying time. As mentioned, previous you could have work your a** off to get a nice position and after a bad start you found yourself in the middle of the field, or worse in the barrier facing the other direction.

Had 3 very nice races again today

First one at Brands Hatch GP with the Audi TTS. Kept getting close to 1st, 2nd and 3rd but couldn't try to make a pass. The TTS just isn't fast enough on the straights on this track, the Evo's are just pulling away even when I'm in their slipstream. @Lord Protector doing really well with that Evora. :)

Second one at Willow Springs with perhaps my new favorite car, the Scirocco. :D I've won all races with it today while almost everyone's still using the GT-R. I think the Scirocco has taken the crown now to be honest, cause I normally don't win that often. So the car just has to be very good. :P Was a nice battle though, oppvaskkost was a bit quicker in the low speed section and was just making use of the slipstream on the straights to stay close to me. :P Other 2 races with him he made a mistake unfortunately and was out of slipstream range so I just kept pulling away on the straights.

And a rematch with @eminem09494 on the Nurburgring Nordschleife, again with the Scirocco and GT-R. Now I was on pole and managed to stay ahead all the way though I saw him got closer a few times. The real action happened on Döttinger Höhe as usual. :P Last time we raced I backed off in the same situation (though at the start of the race), this time I didn't and managed to take the win. :)

I think the dominance of the GT-Rs is finally over. Way to go VW.
And congrats @Firehuntah

Thanks! It's true yeah, the GT-R no longer is the only choice to be competetive. Really happy about that, nice to see some different cars on the grid.

Bah! Oh well, I had 1st for a while :) @Firehuntah is usually quicker than me with a GT-R anyway!

To be honest I don't even know what a GT-R is anymore. :P I don't think I'll be using it for a while, it has too many km's driven already. ;) It's time to give the Scirocco some km's. Your time's very good with the GT-R though, don't really know if I could do better with it.

Last time I looked (one hour ago) there was a SLS on 1st place. But the top ten usually changes a lot in the first hours.

Maybe you want to check again, I improved my time a little bit. :P Though I don't know if anything changed, it's been an hour since I checked. Should be pretty hard to beat that time though, don't think I can do much faster anymore myself. Someone will probably find a way to still go faster soon probably. I just hope it won't be with a GT-R again. ;)

It is a little better in the 'S' races, but still a bit rough in the middle of the field. The downside is it's much harder to qualify your way out of it! Sometimes I think I've done a reasonable job, but then start 9th, 10th, 11th. TBH, I think the SR system is a little bit too forgiving at the moment: I've had 2 red -SR marks during a race and still had +SR at the end. And I also see some, who get -SR at the end relatively often, keeping their S rating.

I have 3170 miles on mine! I'll be trying some other cars this week for sure, although I'm not doing too well with the Evora yet. Anyway, you manage to stay in the top 10 quite often, whereas I don't. I feel I'm not that far away from it sometimes, but how would I know?! Shame we don't get a larger leaderboard.

Ok I'm a bit behind then, only 2636 km here. :P Did 94 races with it though and 37 wins. Scirroco now 468 km, 10 races and 9 wins. :D But yeah you should definately give other cars a try as well now. On Brands there's even more cars that are competetive it seems. Just the 2 American cars seems to lack some pace. ;) And the Megane maybe, still have to try that with a good tune.
And yeah we definately need larger leaderboards, top 100 at least for the beta. Top 1000 in the full game.

Hi.

Could someone of you beta-playing ladies or gentlemen do me a favour?

I know there are lots of videos from the Nürb, both time trial and race footage, but could somebody do a video where they drive the track in about 80-100kmh, in chase view and with hazards on for the whole lap?

In a Genesis Coupe or a WRX STI?

And do a full 360° camera spin around the car with hazards on before starting the trip.

Pretty please? With whipped cream and sprinkles on top?
:dopey::bowdown::embarrassed:

Alright, since we again have Nurburgring N300 (3rd or 4th week in a row already?) I was able to make some video's. :) The WRX is one of my favorite cars so I went with that one. Though I'm not sure about the speed, think it was more like 120-150 km/h. Did it with the HUD off and trying H-Shifter and clutch (still sucks, same as GT6).

Btw, sorry for the color of the WRX being way off, that's the effect of HDR when recording non HDR video's. I can assure you it has the perfect WRX blue in game. ;)

So yeah, I normally don't drive that slow. :P Took a video of a lap at full speed as well, onboard without HUD. Really amazing to drive like this on the Nurburgring. Can't even imagine what it'll be like with VR in the final game on this track.

And a nice replay of it. :)

I have to work quite hard for my quali times :( For BHGP I did a session of 9 laps in the GT-R where my optimal was still more than 1/2 a second away, then had a rest, then nailed it first try in a new session (within a tenth, I think). For me that was relatively few laps!

I tried the Scirocco and couldn't get a good time with it. Using @KING OF SKULLS tune. I think IRL I'd need new front tyres each lap! Maybe I could get that under control, but it did feel as though the lines it wanted to take left the door very open on most corners, which would make me nervous using it in a race.

Thanks for trying my crappy tune of the Scirocco. I've done a different setup on my second VW, but no matter what I have tried, you either have the wheelspin, or slow acceleration. I think the springs, responsive dampers and the LSD are the key.
I'm a bit disappointed with the tuning in GTS. It's frustrating and time consuming. Today I tested some stock GR.3 cars on the Willow Springs track and in the end the times were very similar to the ones with a tuned car. :ouch:
And how these Min/Max setups work is another question.

Thanks for the tune, it's certainly better than stock! I'm fairly clumsy with the throttle, TBH, so I don't know if that's more my problem than the tune. I often find myself tweaking LSD, toe and/or camber settings on other peoples tunes, but I'm no good at tuning from scratch.

I'll post the setup of my Scirocco in 30 mins or so, still working on some video's of time trial laps with it. It's quite different from the one @KING OF SKULLS posted (though also with lots of wheelspin with too much throttle) but it's one of those min/max tunes as well sadly. ;) I don't like how they often end up being the best tunes either, doesn't make much sense to be honest. Hopefully that will change in the final game.

watched the replay even before you post it here :D nice driving, very clean but still not very slow :) replays in GT have always been cool to watch and they are even cooler in GTS, despite the worst day / weather conditions (12:00 clear)

Thought someone did yeah, saw a like on it already before I posted it here. :P Thanks, that lap felt really good yeah, stock tune too and it handles great. Too bad it's not competetive in N300 right now. And it was even my first time driving without HUD in cockpit view so that surprised me a little. The game really does look amazing, it's just a bit silly how HDR is being handled in recorded videos, colors look very off.

Thanks for the videos, they look awesome!

In few instances on your chase cam video, I thought I saw backfire from the left side exhaust, but after looking a bit more carefully I realized it was the sun glinting off of the chrome tips.

And the track itself looks so much better then the GT5/6 version.

Weird, it looks like the hazard lights are not animated in the replay view? Or if they are, its not really visible.

I find that toe and camber has little impact on the cars behaviour in GTS.......too little for my favour, but a good LSD is very effective.

You're welcome. :) The replay is actually from my fast lap, didn't have any hazard lights on there. The track indeed looks much better, you can see on the cruise lap with chase view that they do use some 2d trees and tree walls as the second or third layer of trees though but at full speed you don't notice this at all so I don't mind it for having better performance. Also not visible in the replays, the angles are really well chosen. ;)

I actually noticed with the Scirocco that camber and toe really do make a difference to make it handle better. :P Not like a second difference but definately a few tens. Or well, on the Nurburgring it is a few seconds. ;) LSD I played with as well but that one actually made almost no difference for me. Now I'm not a real tuner, so I don't know too much about it. I usually just take the tunes I find here on GTPlanet and try to improve them a little bit. :P
