Foliage model looks much better, color grading not so much. Also had the NTSC look (like the one in Enthusia). I was expecting a lot more from the lighting engine but it looks very similar to GT5 (with higher res shadow maps). Didn't exactly feel like a trailer for the game. Scene choices were poor for showing the visuals of the game.

I wish they had waited till PSX and done a proper reveal with all the cinematics and stuff , like they did for previous versions.

Well, Im not keeping my hopes up. That trailer was so bare bones. There wasnt much to see for something that is suppose to come out in a few months. That leads me to believe it will be a GT7 Prologue. Hopefully Im dead wrong and theres a ton of new information of the next month or two pointing towards this being a real, full game. I want to throw money at PD but they make it so difficult sometimes.

Go back to the GT6 release event; roughly the same number of cars were shown, with equally little info.

This is the beginning. More will come.

The trailer doesn't look all that wow. At some shots you could even say that is GT6 (example the sequence with the Mazda VGT)
But then the pictures look great, although is nothing really breathtaking. Honestly the new NFS screenshots already look better than it and GT always been on top of their graphics game, so I think this is a bit disappointing.

NFS only has night time (til dawn), car reacts to few lights, ie: it's a really controlled look. It's not really comparable to other games.

And you can look at pictures posted above how GT material shaders/rendering work continues to be incredible, that brushed metal in the Audi, the leather stitching in the Mazda.

I understand you, but it is the very first trailer. The main purpose is simply to assure people that the game exists. We should get more answers over the next few months.

I'm positive that the mattness of the colours is just caused by a colour grading filter (or "Instagram filter") applied on the trailer. The colours on the real-life parts are similarly matt and several previous GT6 trailers have also had colour grading applied on them. (Also, I don't think Polyphony, The Lighting King™, would take such a step backwards after getting it so right in previous GT games)

That was what really surprised me. GT has always been good with lighting, when Forza's car always looked plastic. However in this trailer everything looks decidedly matt and washed out. I'm hoping there some reason for this, as you touched upon.

Disagree, everything before the flags part was impressive. (let's also wait till we see more). you do have a point about NFS and DC for me look better than this trailer, but I'll reserve judgment.

I agree it's early days and we need to see more but after so many years in development I'm worried because seriously NFS is a quantum leap in realism and expert lighting over everyone else. I just expected more from a first party dev with full access to push the PS4.

^Looks pretty impressive IMO, even better in motion.

Which was only achievable by halving the FPS. Don't shoot them in the foot just yet, as the modeling and vehicle shaders was pretty much one of the things that they'd not have to change, and it'll still look great for a next gen game, especially considering the features.

The graphics, sound and physics engine will be the most realistic ever experienced in a driving simulator thanks to the new platform and the new technologies, but that alone would be a too obvious improvement: the way driving games are played will also undergo a huge revolution with “Gran Turismo Sport”. This is a vision that invokes the rebirth of motorsports.
From the website. Sounds like a complete audio overhaul.

Racing fans, brace yourselves — this evening at the Paris Games Week PlayStation Press Conference, Kazunori Yamauchi, along with SCEE CEO & President Jim Ryan, unveiled on stage the latest Gran Turismo iteration: Gran Turismo Sport, coming to PS4 in 2016.

On stage, the Polyphony team talked about the advances that PS4 offers to allow them to continue to improve the graphics, physics, and sound to deliver the most realistic driving simulator to date. But with GT Sport they’re looking to deliver more than that; to deliver a revolution in the way that people experience driving games, a figurative “rebirth” of motorsports.

FIA Gran Turismo Championships
In Gran Turismo Sport, there will be two FIA online championships running simultaneously. In the Nations Cup, players will be able represent their home country. Whilst in the Manufacturers Cup, players will be driving on behalf of their favorite car manufacturer.

Players will not only be able to race as drivers themselves, they’ll also be able to root for their home country or their favorite manufacturers teams.

The winner of the championship will be awarded in the same manner as real life motorsports champions, at the FIA prize giving ceremony. This will be a historic moment, the first time a video game will officially be recognized as part of the real motoring world.

FIA Partnership
Working alongside the historic FIA, to develop a game that continues to be more realistic and authentic, the online racing championships promise to offer something new for players.

But it’s not just about online racing; the GT teams have continued to build on the games legacy of accessibility to ensure that the game is open to all to enjoy.

With the beta expected to begin in Spring 2016, it won’t be long before players can experience all GT has to offer on the power of PS4.

And they did change the shaders, it looks physically based now.
Brushed metal diffusing light, paint peeling too, leather eating light.

But their artists continue to be top of the pack.

:s why is my cringe sense tingling.. I don't want revolution I want evolution!

"the way driving games are played will also undergo a huge revolution with “Gran Turismo Sport”."

Over the years I have learned that this is developer PR speak for "Everything is now online-only".

That's exactly what I'm thinking, all this FIA stuff is PR speak for it's Need For Speed Online
