It´s going to be another fictional racetrack- there’s mention of ‘In the Provence region of France’… #GTSport #GTSportJulyUpdate in the twitter.

Could this be a hybrid track(part public part permanent circuit) or just another highway/Expressway track?

Shame Sardegna is based in Italy. Seems like it would fit in with this track location. I wonder if PD will ever have tracks connecting.

It's certainly going to be a highway track, PD loves those, I also bet there's going to be a tunnel in that track...

Bridge is fictional, but do you recognize anything from first teaser video... lake, shore, mountain, castle?

For example, I am from Croatia and I recognize Dragon Trail location as soon as I saw the track

No sorry i have no idea even after watching it multiple times. :indiff:

Maybe this lake ? The bridge and the road to the mountain looks like a little bit but this Lac de Serre-Ponçon is near of Provence but not in Provence and there is no castle around only some mounts. :scared:

I am really curious to see the final result of this new track

I understand that. But it is a teaser. Making it the way you say wouldnt make it a teaser now would it ? And if people are claiming tracks and cars and lorries based on 1 pixel I am sure that my suggestions are not that weird ?

I know logic thinking is out of place with PD. Still it makes no sense to only introduce a fantasy track in a complete different way than all other updates we got. Makes no sense at all.

Dont get me wrong, I would welcome any fantasy track. I am somebody that loved all the free updates. Even if I would need to pay for them. But something is going on here.

I'm just saying man, I would love for a dynamic time update as well but it's not a realistic expectation and most likely won't happen for GTS PS4 when they're clearly going for better and stable graphics with static time of day. They've already spent so much time hand-crafting each and every time condition, that would all go to waste if they just suddenly decided to add dynamic transitions and degrade the graphical quality. The only reason the game looks as good as it does right now is because the time is static with baked global illumination, even though the sun lightsource is real-time with dynamic shadows. :) They're obviously keeping the rendering tech open to future evolutions on better hardware, so I'd only expect the return of dynamic time on PS5.

Just look at it, it looks ridiculously realistic.

Alright, no Sierra. Cool, but do we still get the tight twisty backroad experience?

I wonder why they are revealing this track this way, or if it's any reason other than the fact that its brand new (and beautiful).

2. That is located in the Alpes de Haute region.

Provence (the historic region) is huge, and encompasses everything between the Rhone and Italian border for East-West, and north of Gap at some points. Verdon is definitely a part of it.

I can't find a single body of water that exactly matches the first teaser in the region, and no bridge anywhere in all of France (so far) that matches the second. This smells like a fantasy circuit.

Idea:

What if this is in fact a new location, and it will be used to “house” the revamped/refreshed/reimagined GT original holy trinity (Grand Valley, Trial Mountain, Deep Forest)? They could be changing up the scenery and environment around the track, and it could be a way to save resources by making one large environment rather than three separate ones - think of DT Gardens - new layout, but a new backdrop didn’t need to be made to introduce it.

Pretending that is the case, I still don’t know what to make of the bridge - it looks far too long to fit any of the old circuits, but then again, PD could be changing up the layouts somewhat (or maybe even expanding some of them). It could also be a new original track, and it could come alongside the trio. But another idea I had was if they put all the tracks in the same region, what if they’re putting them in close enough vicinities to connect them (the bridge being one such connection), and also introducing a GT-original super-circuit layout?

That’d be madness.

I have no firm theories right now though, I’m still intrigued that PD is teasing something with such vague detail for an update almost a month out.

This is exactly what I was wishing was going to be the case and it'd be epic.

Back in the GT6 subforum, in the “Create your own DLC pack” thread I described a circuit nearly like this. A road course surrounding a lake with mountains in the background and a long bridge straight as the centerpiece. I’m excited to see what PD will envision with this similar concept.

I don’t care if this is FIA worthy or not. I just want to drive a track that I’ve never seen before. I don’t like it when there’s a returning track like Spa that’s in 20 other games on the PS4 included in an update. I want original stuff that’s actually interesting to me. Thank you PD for sticking with the surprises and left-field choices.

This. I do not understand why people ask for the same cars and the same circuits as there are in 200 other racing games, it's surreal and meaningless

Could be 'Viaduc de Millau'

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millau_Viaduct

About 400km from the Provence region. Could be used for inspiration.

Édit: pillars don't match. Forget ;)
Not just the pillars, everything.

If this turns out to be a beautiful road circuit where we can toss around some of the road cars, I certainly wouldn't mind that. But I'd be more happy if they slipped in Spa as well.
Either they put the fantasy track or Spa, because both of them are major addings in one way or another. Maybe Spa is coming for the August update as on the 26th you have the F1 Grand Prix. Wouldn't be surprised if it came together with an F1 car.

That indeed is ridiculously realistic. Coming from a MSX and Amiga these kind of graphics were a childs dream.

Also I am not so technical with computer graphics, so I understand your point now better with your explanation. Guess we will be seeing that somewhere in the future.

But to me it doesnt really matter, since it was not something I was wishing for. Although LeSartre at night (not dynamic) is a real must. They can add a 2nd track at night.

I think it will be a re-release of Côte d’Azur (Monaco). Maybe they are indeed just teasing some short clips of the way there or something close to mislead us.

Based on the first video, if they wanted to give us a clearer image or an easier guess, they would’ve posted a part of the track.

They will keep everyone guessing for another three weeks I think.

By the way, I spoke to an employee of PD, who won’t tell anyone anything, as far as I experienced now, and asked him if they could make more original announcements of new content (like teasing tracks and upcoming updates). So maybe they listened to me and some others.

Weird. You know what would make for a good competitive race track? Special Stage Route 5. But this isn't that so..

I just want tracks that are fun to race on, and it's usually a safer bet to pick a known real life track (that's good) or a track that is in a former GT game and people enjoy vs. coming up with something completely new which might be okay or bad.

And road cars handle like garbage in Sport so no reason to add road-esque courses IMO.

If it’s going to be a street track, I hope they’ll at least make it look like it’s actually based on public roads... narrow or variable width, side streets, actual junctions/crossings, traffic signs and lights, houses close(ish) to the street, realistic corners that you could actually encounter on a public road, unlike that stupid high banked corner at Alsace... sure it’ll be a fictional track, but at least make it look like it could be a real track.
