If every detail is important why do the cars in GTS sound like they are from a 2005 game?
The audio has improved, and is at the other games level, and seeing many comparisons, and very close to the actual cars in the latest builds.
Now say that sound is like a 2005 game TODAY is just a useless commonplace.

I tend to relearn braking points for each different game, as they never seem to be similar spanning across. I understand the want for recreation of reality, but is this really such a major issue? Are we to nitpic each and every small detail of reality that is not accurately reconstructed in such a way? I'm sure there would be issues from both games if we were to pick up on such minute things. I think its a nice positive detail to have, but I don't really think we're gaining/losing anything.

From a first party studio with a high budget, releasing on a console 4 years down its lifespan, I'm sure there are plenty of things that people would say they'd expect more from. These games both have their weakness/strengths, but I don't think this is particularly constructive for anyone involved, or a good way to gauge between the two games.
Not a major issue for a game, but really only it needed minimal effort from the developers to make some aspects better. It's really a shame to have laser scanned tracks and then see some missing details so easy to reproduce and the "problem" goes on from FM5.

I admit that I am personally very attracted to even the smallest details in these games.

However, for comparisons I always take into consideration the reality, whether it's FM, GT, AC, pcars, etc. and I'm comparing them individually, without the usual (and useless) vs GT vs FM vs AC vs pcars which always end up badly.

If I can, I play them all and always tend to make realist considerations depending on the game and the context and without taking positions, I'm not that type of user;)
For example I think that T10 can totally afford the visual fidelity and accuracy of the graffiti like GT, otherwise I did not say anything. The last thing I want is to generate flame and stupid console war, I think it has already bad enough on this aspect the forum. I was quite shocked by some reply to the post that led to nothing good :boggled:

Obviously I can also have some preference on many things (and who does not have them?), for example I hate the lens flare and raindrops effects on the screen, because I find that completely ruin visual realism and distract (in games like driveclub, FM and pcars for example) and if possible I turn them off, but maybe many players like them and that's ok to me 👍

Yeah, for something so glaringly easy, why is it the decided not to? The problem goes on from FM5 because that is when the track was recreated. They aren't recreating their tracks with a release of each new game. It's largely the same.

Being attracted to smaller details is fine. But to act like one game is perfect over the other, and to say that a game is fantasy and that they just don't care to be "careful" because of it is a bit ridiculous. Especially so when one of the game in question has its fair share of "fantasy" aspects.

If I can, I play them all and always tend to make realist considerations depending on the game and the context and without taking positions, I'm not that type of user;)
That's fine, but the person in question does not, and has not. The issues we're discussing aren't stemming from you.

It has nothing to do with visual fidelity, to be honest. It was a design decision, one I have no idea why it was choosen, but they did it for one reason or another. Censorship makes a bit of sense, maybe some things they didn't want to recreate so they opted for their own. Who knows, though? GTS has that down, which was already admitted, I just didn't get the conversation the guy was aiming for as he's never came in with a level head on both games.

Which is fine on its own, because that's honestly the worst looking out of every Forza iteration so far. Makes sense that people are having an issue with it.

In context to the actual comparison, though, what is fair when comparing an in-game image of a dark tunnel compared to a CGI trailer used for promotion using non-gameplay animation?
That video was not CGI but maximum in the engine, however, just look at the tunnel of the tokyo circuit to figure out how close it is to what we see in that video.

PS: This is a topic of comparison and there are comparisons for even lesser things, maybe emula had some tone over the lines, but he just made a comparison and motivated his response.

We've seen in game videos of the tunnel of GTS in the page prior. What ever they're doing, it looks completely different from gameplay.

The comparison it's not the issue, the poster is. I'm not confused about what this thread is.

That's definitely miles better than the actual game play video the page prior, but I feel it illustrates my point fairly well just how different the gif is compared to actual gameplay.

Hard to tell if you're serious or not.

but the replays in gts are not equal quality to runtime gameplay.
what is even the vertical resolution on that letterbox? looks sub-800p?

They are the same, only in the game, having no replay shots, it seems lower but it is not.

In the replay you add some filter to the dof type camera and nothing more.

GAMEPLAY, when you actually ...play the game, you got FULL SCREEN, right? thats 1080p(ixels) rendered per vertical row. (1920 lines of those)
REPLAY, when you watch the most beautiful replays on the market, top and bottom chunks of screen are ...BLACK. = no render there.
I'm no pixel counter (DF did count this or not?) , but to me it looks between 200-250 pixels total NOT rendered (x1920 lines of those)

so in replays, your ps4 renders a lot less pixels that it does when you play, so there is more power to amp up the gfx ;)

=> when you compare (GTS) replays to (other games) runtime, you kinda ...cheat :))

I do not have the beta, it seems to me that replays full screen, without black bands

what are you talking about?? you yourself POSTED the freakin' video :D
Watch this video and then the trailer and tell me if they are not very similar:

see black bars top and bottom? good! ;)

I understood that critics to FM (proved with images and videos) here are not welcome, you can only talk about how bad is GTS (a 2005 game... cit) and how wonderful is FM, otherwise you are a troll or a "bad guy".... ciao
dude, my friend, they even gave you your wall, and now you say this? plus, didnt I post videos for you to see? you are not a bad guy

I'm always serious, but you do not seem to be you saying that audio seems like a 2005 game when it's actually the farthest thing that can be there.
I don't believe it sounds appreciably better than Forza 2 and isn't even in the same ballpark as many of the cars in Shift 2 from 2011 I believe. I haven't heard a racecar in GTS that sounds as convincing as this and it sounds much better in person through your own system vs. a 5 year old, extremely compressed, YT video. Most racecars are vicious and loud and sound like they want to rip your face off in real life:

You did not understand, I said I do not know if there is an full screen feature

I do not have the beta, so I do not know if this feature exists.

hmm.. ok, take a wild guess,,, and in the meantime, until you find some ...full screen replays, the things we wrote above remain. ;)

I do not care about how other games play, because all games try to simulate the real sound of cars, which is what counts.
Feeling a bit of video comparing with real cars, the sound is very similar to real. It's still not perfect because they have to add nuances and calibrate some of the volume of audio components of the engine and gearbox, but what I've heard is doing a great job, even for environmental sounds.

PS: By the way, PD, for each car view, apply different sounds just to simulate the sounds for the different views of the car and they are really very few to do it, others just use the same sound For all views.

I agree, the sound of the BMW for example, in Shift 2, does sound quite similar to the real car. The transmission sound in particular is very good. Under load and decel is well done. The engine notes are excellent as well. GTS not so much.

By the way, which current games use the same sounds for all views? Since "very few" do it, you should have quite a good list of examples.

This video is in October and is in full screen:

Or beta does not have this feature or has been removed later

this video is from 2016 though.
if what you see now in beta replay, it becomes full screen later, probably less post-effects will be applied than what's going on now.

When you switch view on replay mode, it s the same than actual gameplay
Not enhanced
What you see who is beautiful is because you see on 3rd view angle, with Nice camera, that s all
Asset are all the same, same LOD
If it s so different, the hardware is very powerful to switch all the setting without loading ?

no its not!
other than the in-your-face difference in rendering resolution, framerate is halved, so a lot of detail can be added.
but dont take my word for it, here;s digital foundry:

"Since the Gran Turismo series moved onto PlayStation 3, Polyphony has opted for 30fps replays, halving frame-rate in order to layer on additional effects and deploy higher detail models. This remains the case for Pro users running the 4K mode, and for base PS4 hardware operating at 1080p"
of course they ommit referring to the letterbox resolution of replays, that is very far off from 1920x1080, but still..

anyway, replays look fantastic, but they are not gameplay.

and on that same DF article, in less than two lines is my fear:

"In like-for-like tests, we found that the PS4 Pro version held a virtually solid 60fps lock, whereas base hardware can drop to the mid-40s in the most densely packed race scenes. This is a welcome enhancement - dropped frames means a disconnect in terms of ..."

not looking to buy a ps4 pro. iffy framerate on my base ps4 will be such a huge turn-off.... this is my one and only request...

It s not a solid proof
Thats the case for GT6 where they add motion blur
The LOD is part of the engine, what is more in front is better detailled, or what is far, is lowered, it s not post effect
In gameplay you see it, simply on replay, you see closer so you see how is perform but nothing about post effect who enhance the quality
Promo video are post efect used, but not replay

About nurburgring...
GTS visualy looks great!

But FFB trough the wheel is flat.

I prefer a really good accurate laser scan as iracing or assetto that are currently considered the best and most accurate in their laser scanned tracks given importance in the tarmac, bends, cambers...with a exelent Road feel.
That is more important than get "accurate graffiti" ..if you want to "simulate a track.

They redid a good amount of the track putting new tarmac.
So that took away a lot of graffiti from the GT scan made before 2013.
Because the GTS nurburgring is a reworked version of the GT6 version.

Actually he is right, the geometry when playing is not the same when playing vs replays. Go and look at the Porsche hood gameplay at Northsleife compared to how the cars looks in replays. You will see a difference. Like he says 30fps replays=better gfx settings.

Edit: It is so fun to see older titles sometimes, Like seeing feutures that the new titles are trying to sell to us. Vibrating mirrors/windsheild wipers, the driver is even moving his legs/feet. Nice sounds... man the list goes on, where are the improvements bedside of new filters ie gfx effects?

Would not surprise me if shift with the polish tire mod is as good as the newer titles handling wise :P

Looking back makes me realise that we are being milked :P

The Porsche hood is part of the replay too, so nothing has enhanced moving from gameplay to replay mode
30fps is for better handling the higher LOD, car are closer, so thz LOD is increasing, it doesnt mean they use a different model

Not that they are using a different model but that the rasterisation of the model is lower if I remember it being called that way.

If the hood angle is from a replay then it must be camera dependent or something. Because it is not worthy of AAA or a modern racing game:P
