I'm sorry to say this if someone get offended, but for those who try to nitpicked an in-game footage to defend your favorite game isn't going to solve any problem and it isn't a solution to proof which game is best or far more superior in one and another. The point is this : both games looks good, most of us agree with that. But, please at least give some reasonable opinion, argument or explanation if you want to explain positive or negative points for each games.
Once again I have to sorry said something like this before but it is quite bothering to see some of endless and pointless nitpicking comparison without any reason or explanation being given.
Well said. 👍
It's the nature of these sorts of VS threads though, sadly — people hunker down with "their choice", and that typically means others are the "wrong choice". Just look at the last page: someone will post a picture of trackside detail, where GT's is more impressive than FM7's. Will you see the same person ever post a picture of, say, the engine bays in FM7? A little unfair, since GT doesn't do under-hood modelling. But what about rain? It's in both titles, but it's visually unimpressive in GT. Thus, you won't see it from some folks.
Seeing both games in motion on the Pro and One X, there's much less between them than there was last generation. GT still does look more realistic, especially in replays. FM7 looks stunning — a little more dramatic, really. I hate to use the term "Hollywood", but I can't think of anything better right now. It's eye-catching, and I think both are seriously good looking games. Pictures can't tell the whole story, especially with Photo Mode muddying the waters. And I say that as someone that loves Photo Mode.
Most of the differences come down to art direction, and gameplay targets. Turn 10 has made 60fps on Xbox an unwavering priority, and every asset is massaged to make that happen. You see it in the subtle changes on track across FM5, FM6, and FM7. As more features get added, other aspects get changed or simplified. Obviously, on the X, that's less of an issue. But when I played the game on the vanilla XB1, you could see where T10 dialed back some of the assets compared to FM5.
The obvious one I like to go back to is the tree canopy at the highest point of the Prague circuit. It looked so good in FM5, but was a casualty on the road to 24-car grids.
There's been two major visual bugbears for me with GT Sport. The first is that the Nurb GP circuit's back half looks
very drab. Flat, even, in terms of colours and lighting. Maybe it's the time of day the Sport Mode race was at, but it didn't feel nearly as visually impressive as the rest of the game. It was a weird experience.
The other is the overly-reflective windshield. I first heard it mentioned in the ISR review, and now I can't unsee it: you'd be forgiven for thinking the top half of the Viper's windshield was actually a mirror, so clear is the dashboard reflection!
