I'm sorry to say this if someone get offended, but for those who try to nitpicked an in-game footage to defend your favorite game isn't going to solve any problem and it isn't a solution to proof which game is best or far more superior in one and another. The point is this : both games looks good, most of us agree with that. But, please at least give some reasonable opinion, argument or explanation if you want to explain positive or negative points for each games.

Once again I have to sorry said something like this before but it is quite bothering to see some of endless and pointless nitpicking comparison without any reason or explanation being given.

Couldn't say it better! 100% agree with you!

Well said. 👍

It's the nature of these sorts of VS threads though, sadly — people hunker down with "their choice", and that typically means others are the "wrong choice". Just look at the last page: someone will post a picture of trackside detail, where GT's is more impressive than FM7's. Will you see the same person ever post a picture of, say, the engine bays in FM7? A little unfair, since GT doesn't do under-hood modelling. But what about rain? It's in both titles, but it's visually unimpressive in GT. Thus, you won't see it from some folks.

Seeing both games in motion on the Pro and One X, there's much less between them than there was last generation. GT still does look more realistic, especially in replays. FM7 looks stunning — a little more dramatic, really. I hate to use the term "Hollywood", but I can't think of anything better right now. It's eye-catching, and I think both are seriously good looking games. Pictures can't tell the whole story, especially with Photo Mode muddying the waters. And I say that as someone that loves Photo Mode.

Most of the differences come down to art direction, and gameplay targets. Turn 10 has made 60fps on Xbox an unwavering priority, and every asset is massaged to make that happen. You see it in the subtle changes on track across FM5, FM6, and FM7. As more features get added, other aspects get changed or simplified. Obviously, on the X, that's less of an issue. But when I played the game on the vanilla XB1, you could see where T10 dialed back some of the assets compared to FM5.

The obvious one I like to go back to is the tree canopy at the highest point of the Prague circuit. It looked so good in FM5, but was a casualty on the road to 24-car grids.

There's been two major visual bugbears for me with GT Sport. The first is that the Nurb GP circuit's back half looks very drab. Flat, even, in terms of colours and lighting. Maybe it's the time of day the Sport Mode race was at, but it didn't feel nearly as visually impressive as the rest of the game. It was a weird experience.

The other is the overly-reflective windshield. I first heard it mentioned in the ISR review, and now I can't unsee it: you'd be forgiven for thinking the top half of the Viper's windshield was actually a mirror, so clear is the dashboard reflection!

I'm not sure it's a good idea to compare GTS' scapes with FM7's actual in-game photomode, because in the scapes the game only have to render the car and its lighting.

In FM7 the game have to render everything.

Anyway, could somebody do a comparison between GTS' and PC2's Honda Project 2&4? That would be the big final of the car model VS car model! ;)

In photomode FM7 (like the older FM) swap the ingame car model of the player with the full detailed model from garage.... in GTS the cars in photomode on track are the same used ingame.... the comparison is unfair

Doesn't that mean that they both use the best available version of their car in photo mode? I don't see how it is unfair to compare best versus best.

That means that FM7 swaps the car in on track photomode from the low lod model to the high lod model while in GTS the low lod model doesnt get changed and the high lod model only is visible in scapes.
It sounds like I missread it then. I thought we were comparing photo mode to photo mode.

The One X and PC version of Forza uses the highest quality car model for the player. Here quote from DF: Graphical quality also falls in line nicely with the PC build running fully maxed out, and that's with dynamic optimisation disabled, ensuring that we're getting the true, full-fat PC experience.

once again, GTS outperforms Forza in graphics
Bravo PD; 6 months of meticulously detail so one can take a picture of the car with a real life background in a scape to fully demonstrate its graphic prowess.

Shame the actual model being used when racing doesn't look like that.

I wonder what happened to their adaptive tessellation tech they used in GT6, their current LOD system is kinda weird. I do wish they swapped in their full models in photomode.

Instead we get this low poly business

Yuck:crazy:

I wonder if that GTS license plate is a hint that standards are returning:lol:
But but but, that's not fair! He's was playing Forza on PC, not on the actual console!!!!

Joke aside, I am amazed that after four years in development to create GTS and these so called "Super Premium" models, there are still signs of standardness in it. Why PD!?

Cherry picking master level :D

on very few cars in GTS the tessellation in photomode looks bugged.... and you take photos just of one of that cars... what a coincidence! :D

the only part of the cars that ingame looks different from scapemode are rims (probably because ingame rims rotate and are not visible) all the rest of the car is almost the same of scapemode...

That's just horrible. Makes me wonder about the bias though as the FM7 vid didn't even bother to remove the obnoxious driving line.
The headlights aren't even on in the Forza video:lol:. Also full HUD on Forza and no HUD on GTS on top of the driving line on Forza. It's obvious trolling. Not sure what @gtracedriver1's intent was in posting it:confused:

After popping the above video into YT to watch, this one was on the right side of the screen. IMO the night lighting in PC2 is much more representative of what I see with my naked eye. The contrast is too dark in GT making the lighted parts too bright and the darker parts of the track too dark which isn't the case when you are surrounded by various ambient light sources. I pointed out the contrast issue in a previous photo comparison. GT looks more like what you'd see with a tv camera, PCars2 looks more like what I'd see with my naked eye. Your results may vary:sly:

Neither one is perfect, both have flaws, but PCars2 looks closer to reality to me and would be a much more pleasant experience to night race in IMO.

Why is that an issue for you for Forza, yet people have been coming here posting pictures of Scapes in GTS which uses the highest LOD possible, not even something that is achieved in gameplay, to compare to shots that are from Forza 7's gameplay? You're literally only taking an issue of it now, because someone compared Forza's photomode to GTS? What ridiculous logic.

Totally ironic coming from you. He compared two cars, and just because the comparison was fairly even you went overboard to say hes cherry picking? Wheres the logic in that statement.

Could you, with a straight face, say that there is something wrong with these?

Traditionally, Gran Turismo is processing high-definition tessellation while the screen is dark while pushing the button of the camera shutter.
When I present forza's photo, I present the image at the stage where the image processing before the shutter button was pressed is not done as much as possible.

And forza has not changed after comparing the processing before and after pressing the shutter button.

Forza does slightly change, but it mostly depends on what settings you use. If you're using a high shutter speed then it smoothens out the backdrop a bit, the things that have motion blur on them. If you're not using any of them, then its just a standard photo, you're correct. I've noticed this in Forza Horizon 3, but to a lesser degree in Forza Motorsport 7.

Yep, it's a Forza Motorsport game ;)

While I agree the Pcars2 one would be a more pleasant driving experience it seems as if that is because it is unrealistically light. almost as if darkness has minimal effect. Look at all that light in the cockpit even. The GT Sport one actually looks more realistic to me except that it seems as though it's has a increased "darkness" that is due to ingame settings being too low.
