I bought my 8th memory card this holiday season. It's my first non-Sony card, and has 32MB of capacity. That'll make 7 cards with a GT4 save on it, 5 of which are for backing up my current work-in progress.

I'm hoping I won't have the need to ever join this club... Where's the wood...???

I also backed up my spreadsheets and game notes on my computer. My video captures are too large to store without buying another harddrive...

You can add my name to the list.. My memory card data was corrupted one year ago.. :indiff:.. Three months ago, I wanted to play GT4 in Arcade Mode.. After I've chosen a car and a track it began to load them and then.. Well, then the red circle of death appeared and I had to switch my PS2 off and up to now I haven't played it, it just doesn't load the game.. But: I already asked here on the forums and the data on the memory card data will be alright :).. I'm going to buy me a new PS2 and a new GT4 disk next week 👍.. But my memory card data was corrupted last year and because of that I can join this club :P..

Best wishes,

S-Line Audi Fan

ARRRRRGH! Not again! I just corrupted my best save, and I forgot to back it up! What's even worse: I know when I made it corrupted. Oh well, guess I'll just back up my other save and move on...

I was @ 54% and the baby got a hold of the wire for the remote and pulled the PS2 down. The next time I restarted I saw the jerkhole of a message :ouch:

I just started playing about 2 months ago. I waited a LONG time to start playing this game. My 1st gen PS2 died about a week before long awaited GT4 came out. It took from then to now for me to have the spare cash to buy a new PS2 to start playing my old games, and FINALLY start GT4.

Oh well, time to start over again. At least I could take comfort in my wife's Meatball Penne dinner. Damn, that's good cookin' :)

As many people, I had seen that "$%&/()= messagge about five times, fortunally in all cases my progress was not superior to 20%; now I'm on 98.5%... if you really don't wanna see that message again follow these instructions.

1. turn off auto save option
2. when you FINISH PLAYING OR CHANGE CARS (the game saves even if auto save option is set off automatically), YOU MUST EXIT GT mode, go to arcade mode, then two player, and where you choose car select memory card so the game loads your garage, if it loads normally you will not get that message next time you starts again your game.
YOU CAN KNOW IF YOU HAVE DATA CORRUPTED AT THIS POINT, SO IF YOUR GARAGE DON'T LOADS AND YOU GET THAT FAMOUS MESSAGE DON'T GET FRIGHTERED, go to the main menu and select the save option, after you save your game again go to arcade→two player→memry card and load your garage, if you get that mesaage again repeat the above instruction until you stop getting it.
3. (no HDD or aditional hardware needed) make a backup of your memory card
you can find information about this on many sites on internet, just search for exploit and ps2 software

THAT'S IT!!! if you always follow the above two first steps (third is optional) you are allowed to say SAYONARA to game data corrupted, hope this is useful

...and i know :ouch:

My name still has no been put on this list despite posting my woe a couple of pages back :(

i bought the game like one year ago, and i just left it because of SOOOOOO MANY corrupted files. then i realized the autosave off thing, and now im in 50 something per cent.
i want to be in the club!! :P

I just bought a new GT4 copy (old one screwed up) and I found thast my data was corrupted! Goodbye, Viper Concept...

THat's the 5th time.

May I join this club? My 100% game crapped out on me yesterday when I was working on getting a bunch of A-spec points. I had to start all over again.................

Errrr :\

I'd like to become a memeber.

Turned the PS2 off at about 11:30 pm last night. That combined with a cold coming on means that my motor skills are sub-par at best right now. My finger slipped while saving, that will teach me to hold my hand over the power button.

Woke up this morn to find my data corrupted.

Its not all bad though since I've wanted to restart for ages.

So, have you seen this screen?
coruptdata.jpg

Tips on how to beat the corruption:

Turn auto-save off!
Do not turn off the PS2 when in the middle of saving
(really stupid)Do not upload a corruped game save from a maxdrive Xport ect

i must say, the auto-save off is a good tip. i have yet to do so on GT but just going off other games. think its time to give that a shot.

feel free to add SRinc. to the list, man i've been playing GT since 98, 99. i lost more files to corruption than files i 100% completed. i've lost 3 or 4 GT4 files in the last few years to corruption and invested in Nyko's 32MB (4 memory cards in one, with the push of a button) memory card so im workin with a duplicate profile on stand-by just incase i get that dreaded memo again. also this memory card is great for photo and replay saves, happy tuning!

Turned on the ps2 and memory card is corrupted. What a s****y way to wake up in the morning.....

dude try having all your friends over and talking smack and all that, and when you power the PS2 on your file is corrupted...

What a silly idea for a club.
But id like to join since my data got corrupt today (stupid autosave). But i guess its for the best since I know the game a lot better now and will start off much faster and wont use up so many funds.

Strictly speaking, my data didn't corrupt itself, but it suffered from the Mission 1 bug for absolutely no reason. So I deleted it.

As far as I could check, most of the save game corrupted data is due to bad quality of memory cards. Unfortunately there are many falsified MC's around and depending of the country you live, it is very hard to get the real one (Magic Gate flash memo).

The best thing to do is to use a file manager such as "uLaunch". With this software you'll be able to keep backups of all your game saves. I have the links to download uLaunch in both NTSC and PAL. Let me know if anyone wants it. But remember it should (i guess so) be readable by mod-chipped PS2's.
