I remember me and my mates used to have time trials on Complex String in GT3. We had 3 Classes defined by default car settings, (semi-racing suspension, Stage 1 lightened, any sports tires, racing brakes, Full Custom box, double clutch, Racing Flywheel and propeller shaft if applicable) and broken into 3 groups of Hp. limits.
C class was 250 hp,
B class was 400 hp,
A was 600 hp.
These power figures were the maximum you could have to be in each class, the methods of engine modding were free range, just dont exceed the power figure being the only rule.
This spewed forth months and months of various cars being used, all of us tuning away to beat whoever had the best times in the respective class, or trying to own more than one class. There was no price limit meaning we would see cars ranging from Rufs battling gtr's, to hottet up silvias vs Mercs on an often even plyaing ground also learning a lot about an array of cars in the proccess.
We used to Call it the "String Street car festival" (no LM's or race cars allowed)
There is a similar thing going on in a thread about the 1/4 mile, with a 30K limit and although this is an interesting challenge, I feel the cars are limited to the typical Evos and WRX's gunning for the top spot.
The beauty of the string, or say any other track, is that a 4wd is not always going to be the fastest. (especially with the length some ppl go with their tuning.)
If we could get a thread up and going with similar motives to "Street String" (albeit without the much missed string) using tracks decided monthly by a poll, or any similar idea, It might possibly add another facet to the already seemingly boundless gameplay available.
I know Id be keen..

P.S thanks to the person responsible for the 1/4 mile thread for sparking my memory and imagination.
