Please forgive my lack of search skills, but can anyone direct me to a poll on "wheel vs controller pad?" I've found specific Driving Force Pro related polls and threads, but can't find an "any wheel" vs. standard controller pad thread/poll. Thanks in advance for any help you can give to avoid the 'not worthy' backlash from creating a duplicate poll/thread.

I don't really thing there is one that is titled around 'Wheel/DFP vs. DS2'. However, given that you are interested, how about you start your own?

OK let me start the questions again.
Who can be bothered doing the 24 hour races?
Its too long for me...i have to go places and stuff to do lol.
i think they sholdnt put 24 hour races in the gt HD

I searched about it, but couldn't find any advice: I did some top-speed runs today, expiriencing my first wheelie (fun...), and noticed that, when the settings-screen is set to MPH, the graphical display says "KM/h", and that when set to KM/h, it says "MPH". It displayed the right speeds for each setting, only the gauge said the opposite below the digital speedo...

Any help?

yeh but its soo long. Your playstation gets spoilt aswell. dont it?

Not at all (unless you have a SlimLine :scared:). I've seen one member here keep it on for over two months making out his Volvo 240 GLT Estate on the Test Course.

:odd:

I've never heard of this. Are you sure you've got the right display settings?

Mine's a SlimLine, and I did all the longer enduros in a row (B-spec), so it was about a whole week on - nothing happened.

I reset, and now KM/h is KM/h. Didn't try MPH, though.

One quetion, I have no idea if this is asked before and I feel like a total noob, but how do you select GT mode cars for 2 player battle?

Just click on the 'Load Garage' icon in the Arcade menu and you should be good from there.

I have a question, I hope someone can help me!

Why does the Nissan R92CP have one side mirror attached on the cockpit (right) and the left one attached to the fender? That asymmetry wont affect aerodynamics, thats for sure. Maybe it has something to do with the pits? I dont know.:scared:

It's actually car-related. The Toyota TS020 GT-One also has this - something with driver-comfort, and perhaps the lower one creates less drag... Looks cool, though.

And onther one: :D

Why are my times 30-40 seconds better than the times in real life with the same cars at the nurburgring? With no driving aids, real shifting, and with driving well under the cars limit?
(With wheel and pedals)

Is Gt4 unrealistic?:sly:

*edit* ops, I quotet myself. Sorry!

However, thanks for you reply, sounds plausible; but wouldn't it be even more comfortable to have both side mirrors on the fender? The drive would not have to look as far away of the track as with the cockpit morror. (Hard to explain with my english)

There's a psychological influence in driving over that many hills and turns at well over 100 mph that influences a driver in real life. In GT4, this element is missing, and that is reflected in your lap times.

Watch this video for more info, as best demonstrated by Jeremy Clarkson using GT4 :)

Forgive me if this question has already been asked many times over, but I haven't been able to find an answer...

Is there a way to save endurance races? I'm leading a race after a few hours & I don't want to lose it. Can I exit & get back in where I left off? So far I've just paused the game & left it on. That can't be a good pan in the long run.

Thanks in advance,

DJ

Nope, there is no way to save in the middle of enduro race. I have no problems leaving my PS2 (slimline) on for a week that it takes me to do 24hr race.
Currently at Sarthe I, 18 hrs done, leading by 2 minutes :-)

Thanks CRXnut! I'll just leave it running then.

BTW, after 42 laps in just over 5 hours, I'm in the lead by 4'25 at the Nurburgring in the BMW M3 GTR Race Car. :) Hopefully I'll still look that happy in 19 hours, rather than :scared:

The M3 GTR Race Car will do that with ease. Don't worry about it, mang. You should try it all in A-spec. Loads of fun if you've got the time to do it 👍

I think it's more realistic at the other real world tracks, but at the Nurburgring it's pretty easy to get under real world lap times. Tourist Trophy is the same way. I've beat the real motorcycle lap record (7'49) at the Nurburgring by almost half a minute on a Buell. Fast guys have done it in over a minute quicker than the lap record on Japanese liter bikes. However, at Laguna Seca I can't touch Nicky Hayden's MotoGP Pole time from a couple years ago.

One reason: You won't die in GT4.

I think I am in A-spec. When I pit, it says A-spec mode at the bottom of the window where you choose tires & whether or not to refuel. ???

Status: At 7:53/64laps in, I lapped the 2nd place car. :)

A-spec is when you're the one who actually does all the driving, so it should be easy to figure that out. B-spec is when the PS2 drives for you.

Lower toe at the rear means better handling in the turns, higher toe at the rear means better handling on the straigths....but what happens if you put both rear and front toe settings to +2?

Does it change handling somehow?

One reason: You won't die in GT4.

Famine, driving well under the cars limits means driving carefully enough to lower the possibilty of crashes to the bottom.
(Like breaking long before a turn, half-trotthle through a turn, driving aids to zero, only 330km/h at the straights.) That should result in realistic lap times, but it does not. I think the handling of racecars is a lot different, but how could we know that?

By watching this video again. Seriously, he's right.

I love Jeremy's now famous quote on the Aston Martin DB9...

"That's not really a racing car... that's just pornogrpahy."

As for the realism, aren't there enough threads on the subject already... and besides.. its just a $50 PS2 game played on a 4 year old game console. If it isn't real enough for you I suggest quit playing it, and stick to the real thing. Persoanlly, it is one of, and perhaps argueably the most realistic driving game for consoles, but nothing will ever perfectly reproduce the effects of actual race car driving.... at least not with today's technology and consoles.

And whats the real thing? :sly:

However, I have another question, it has to do with GT4's tuning settings:

If I give the rear andfront tires the widest toe setting possible, how would that change the cars handling?
I guess I wouldn't even notice it.

Yes, the easiest way would be to try it out, but I am moving and the playstation is far far away right now...:guilty:
