True, but they (or should I say the XJ220 Race car) was no match for for instance the JGTC cars and NSX race cars and so on.. At least not when I drove it.. :)

And by the way, didn't the sound of the XK dissapoint you horribly? Without the race exaust (and I REALLY wanted to keep it stock) it sounded like a sewing machine under water.. TERRIBLE! It doesn't sound like that! Oh well.. Sorry for going OT.. :)

Amar what are your impressions of the AI in the simulation mode, (yes Iknow its been asked a few times but I REALLY want to know!), do they still drive like slow morons :boggled: or are they a little bit more speedy, ie. you have to race them for more than 2 corners (GT3 anyone?) when they are in for example, touring, lmp or GT cars?

Please say that they offer more of a challenge! :nervous:

amar: one question if I may? I thought the A-Spec to B-Spec change will be possible in PAL? Is it really? And saving during endurances? I mean, if you can skip from A-spec to B-spec, why couldn't you save then? If you find any answer to those, let us know, please.

This would be very interesting to know. I reckon I'd like to drive the 24h endurances in several stints, letting the AI take over as second driver now and then.. Once again, more realism.. 👍 I'm not hardcore enough to drive the entire 24h race myself. At least not yet! :)

Even the real drivers ain't hardcore enough, so they take stints.

No else Amatar212 would be shouting it off the rooftops, but the B-spec to A-spec and A-spec to B-spec is more important, cause if one of those combinations isn't in, we have an problem.

I know, that was basically what I meant.. Though I was referring to other threads here on GTP where there are examples of people actually racing the entire race themselves.. That is hardcore! :scared:

As 25% is needed to unlock endurance races and that amount is not made in 30 minutes, that's maybe why Amar isn't answering on the A-Spec/B-Spec/Saving tricks during endurance...
Maybe you should let him some time before asking again and again :sly:

ah ok thats a shame. What do you mean A spec to Bspec and that? do you mean you want to change during a race?

Usually happens alot with the SCPH 3000 Models.



At room temp, never moved, and moderatly dusted my PS2 count is up to 4.

This time though im going to clean out the Lense and replace it when it happens.

I think it is the last one, so save your breath 'cause Gran Turismo 4 Test Drive PAL is nearly over 5 and a half GB's and AFAIK 'till now this game is just "unbreakable". You (and me and he and them :)) will have to wait for the realease date to play it, but it will be (and it is) a worth wait. :sly:

Actually On Exeem (suprnova.org project) I've seen a "patch" for the DVD9 on GT4. I only bring this up because I remember hearing people that needed a patch to play their import copys with Disk Magic or something like that.

Im not sure, I've never really Checked to see what models of Systems have the problems. From reading recently about the dreaded error I despise you can simply open the PS2 and clean the lense, but you have to be careful on opening the system due to A "ribbon wire" about 1/2 an inch to an inch long that runs Vertical down the system, and Im guessing it leads to the on and off switch?


Just as long as your careful with that and know a little about hardware you'll be fine. But that always doesnt fix it, sometimes the entire lense needs to be replaced. usually you can just google it to find a replacement lense which if I remember ranged from 55-75 dollars.


But next time I get that error im going to start modding my PS2 to fix it and if possible re-do the airflow to make it run cooler and maybe keep more dust out.


As for "PStwo's" they seem to tend to overheat. I've already had a few come back at work because of this. Im guessing that since its so slim it bassically turns itself into an oven since it doesnt have proper cooling. Havent heard anything about their lenses at least.

Oh yeah, for anyone who needs it I downloaded the GT4 DVD9 Patch. send me an IM on aim and I can send it if you need it :) I Cant guarontee it'll work, but its a shot my name is Nirvanakid17m
 
Instead of buying a replacable lense for 70 bucks you might as well buy one of those PSTwo's for 150.... if you replace the lense you'll never know what might break down next. Plus you get an extra controller with a new PSTwo. I really prefer the top loaded drive of the PSTwo's, a lot less fragile than the mechanic disc tray. And to get the dust out you just have to hold it upside down for a while. :dopey: I'm sure the heat won't be that much of a problem if you keep the ventilation holes free.
 
Smelly has a very good point. but if you play games such as FFXI (which some of my friends use my PS2 for it) it requires the HDD. so the PStwo wouldnt really be an option if you use the HDD
 
Our friend Samberto says that the Shelby Cobra has a good V8 sound, but the AC Cobra sounds all wrong, is this still the case? The AC and Shelby are the same car except the Shelby's steering wheel is on the wrong side;) As far as I know they are both in Arcade from the start.

In gt3 the cars rarely sounded similar to their reallife counterparts. From what i have heard from sound clips gt4 is not much better

Why did they have to change Opel into Vauxhall? Vauxhalls are after all only called Vauxhall in the UK, not in the rest of europe.

I posted this earlier: Does anyone know if there are any changes made to the pal game in each country in Europe? I.e. in the UK we have vauxhall, but rest of europe, opel. Surely this change is made by sony uk?

Ok, thanks ChristmasGTO for you answer.. I guess I wont worry too much, though I would probably end up electrocuting myself or really killing off my ps2 were I to open it.. Oh well, back to topic.. :)

I know, but the AC and Shelby should sound the same and they don't in the Japanese version.
