amar, can u let us know if the "jitter bug" is in the PAL version in the game, because it is in the US version and its irritating. Thanks
Amar said it's gone:

Also notice that I'm very sorry to hear that NTSC has the jiggers and "bouncing" in the graphics. However, I can once more confirm that my PAL version has none of it.

As usual, PAL is harder.:) Good. :)

I strongly believe that it being a PAL version has absolutely nothing to do with it's difficulty...in fact usually the difficulty for PAL versions is not "upped" for "PAL players"...it's because the developers found it too easy period, I know for a fact any version that is released in PAL version, will later be released in the Greatest Hits bundle with the exact same game...it has nothing to do with PAL releases.

im suprised at how PD overlooked this bug in the NTSC version
I guess they just didn't have the time to fix it in the NTSC version, whereas the PAL is somewhat optimised.

I guess you both are right. The developers find it too easy, and given the fact that they discover this after the NTSC version was released and before the PAL version will be released, they can only correct this for PAL. I think this is what amar was trying to say as well.

my dad's boss gave him a brand spaking new slim ps2 as a present for being top person in is dvinsion in december or something. what a result!!! new gran turismo AND new ps2! i might persuade my dad to use the funds he gets from selling the older, bigger one to purchase a certain logitech driving force pro!!!

The problem with drawing parrallels between Ford and Jag is that Ford Acquired Jag whereas Toyota fully own Lexus to sell their "premium" models...

Which is why I had to use Merc -> Maybach... the parrellel is good because a Merc is seen as Luxurious anyway and Maybach is Premium Luxury... a similar relation to Toyota -> Lexus but a few notches further down the ladder!!

C.
Maybach in not the 'luxury' brand of Mercedes. Mercedes is its own brand. Maybach is just another brand (although quite luxurious) of DaimlerChrysler along with Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler, Smart, Freightliner and Western Star(trucks), Sterling, and a few others........

Honda - Acura
Nissan - Infinity
Toyota - Lexus
Ford - Lincoln / Mercury

But the PAL version still has those nasty borders, right?
Not that i will notice it much on my LCD projector, i'll just choose a different screen size, squeeze i think.

No, it doesn't. Not ALL PAL games have them. Only the ones that were not conversed from NTSC properly.

So you can buy the red number 1 Audi R8 in the Japanese version, is it still possible in the PAL version? and is it maybe even possible to also buy the yellow number 2?
Yes, the Red #1 is availablle along with #2 Yellow.

BTW, I'm sure this has been said many times, but to remind the new members, the cars in PAL are in the NTSC.

The XJR-9,Peugeot, HPA, all of those. The only one I haven't seen in the NTSC is the Eclipse 2005.

Also notice that there is no Endurance save on any point of 24Hrs race whatsoever.

Save at Endurance races? NOOO! Auto-save when buying-selling cars? YEEES!
👎

Great. I've got a job, I don't have unlimited freetime. The save-load system in GT3 was good, I don't remember a single post on any GT forum that said: "Oh, save-load at any time the player wants is unrealistic, it damages the gameplay, please Kaz/PD/God, make GT4 with autosave, and don't let the noobs turn it off!!!" Why the hell did they that? It would be a more practical idea to allow the game to save multiple GT4 saves to a single mem. card.

In five years of development they didn't improved the AI, it's still on pre-1995 standards (PC's Grand Prix Legends had perfect AI back in '98). Crap save-load system.

I don't say that GT4 is crap, but I think I'll wait for the release for Enthusia, and see which is worth the 85 bucks better (I live in East Europe)... I'm not sure that because GT4 has 350 different Skylines, Imprezas and Lancers it's the better.

From the very beggining of the PlayStation, PAL releases of many Japan AAA titles were always "harder" - best example is Metal Gear series which even have a mode of difficulty called "European Hard" and it is made especially for PAL releaase.

Silent Hill and Resident Evil series are other games on the same line.

ISS or PES football (soccer) game series were always made more difficult for PAL release.

Gran Turismo was always "harder" for PAL release (speaking strictly aboout the GoldingTheLicences) in compare to US and Japanese release, from the very first game.

I rest my case.

SMALL GT4 PAL UPDATE: The Bug with mileage shown on counter on dials is gone. I had that problem with my RX-8 Concept in Asian game, now I do not have it any more. Now I have RX-8 with 2000 km in the wheels and still counting:). Also, some JAG XRJ9 specs anf figures in the first thread.

Thanks again for the info Amar. I do not desire to delay your “loving,” yet it would be greatly appreciated if you could quote the arcade race/time-trial Pferdestärke figures for the new PAL vehicles. This would allow us to begin making some projections.

Is it the power after an oil change that stands on the right?

Is it the power after an oil change that stands on the right?

I would say the power after the car is fully tuned.
Pictures of cars in the shop dealer show for example the BMW LMR at 580PS, the Nissan R92 at 800PS.

Fantastic info about the Jaguar! I'll be very much looking forward to getting it! (once I get the game that is) :)

Thanks Amar for your work!

Cheers!

In fact I can't understand why PD does such a mess with horsepower!
The game is so realistic that we can buy a car without saving and thus we can't get rid off it and bring back our money. But is this problem with hp (or ps nevermind) realistic?
If I go to Mercedes and decide to buy an E55 AMG for example, the car dealer would say it is 476ps. But when I finally buy it, it would still be 476ps even if I do an oil change! I can't see the point in changing the power of a car like this.

Wouldn't it be more simple if we can see a car in the showroom or in the car dealer with X ps when you buy it still X ps.
If you really care about oil change let's change oil to be back to full power after some 10000km of using.

This mess is a crap. :yuck:

I just wondering amar if you are using some sort of cheat system to prgoress in the game? The reason i say this is because you have had it for about a week and half and you are already 50% through it. From a lifespan perspective this isn't very reasuring; or prehaps it is just the use of your GT3 save? I am not sure so could you please explain?

👍

No cheats used whatsoever.

If you look in some of my threads you'll see thanks pointed at "The ProfessorR". He's my buddy who is doing parallel testing of various aspects of PAL version. As he has all the time in the world for GT4 at the moment, info about the completition percentage cars, as well as info about no-endurance save has come from him. Today he sucesffuly reached 50% and 700th day and he bought BlackBeauties.

So take this UPDATE too: Special Black Cars (mazda, 2 Nissans and GT-One) are in PAL in the same period of week after the 694th day:).

On the other side, all other info is mine, since I tend to progress slower (and notice that I also did golding the Licences while he has not) in goal to find all the differencies between Asian and PAL version, as a owner of both, together with all the comparasions and other intresting info.

For the information, we both have the game for almost 2 weeks. He also did lots of B-Specing, so take that into account when thinking about the longitivity of the game. I can assure you, GT4 is a freaking big game and by far the biggest game I've ever seen on console, including Front Mission 3 or even FFVII. Only bigger game I know is Elite, but please, sustain form comparation of those two:).

strik3out
Huh? What do you mean by Special Black Cars??

they are used versions of the le mans cars, toyota gt0one, mazda 787 and some others, and they are all black, i think the mazda has mazda written in white across the front
