No, I meant the normal, road-going, every-day Renault Clio that you see in the streets all the time.. That car (as I have been "forced" to drive it a few times) is horrible in
my opinion.. Sorry if I offended you with my "sweeping" remarks..
Cheers!
No offence taken, to me the standard Clio is no more or less exciting that most of the other cars in its segment, and as you say we are all free to hold our own opinions.
FRST
clio182 is fun to drive I'd say but the V6...hmmph...more a suicide car than anything else I've got plenty of pictures showing the way their driver end..not pretty and really sad...Renault MR cars are stupidly dangerous !!!
understeer and then bam ! complete oversteer-spin unmanageable over the limits even for a pro pilot..stay the hell away from them...
Now, I know what I said about all of us having our own opinions, but have you driven a Clio V6 (Mk 1 or 2). I have and stupidly dangerous is not a term I would use with either of them.
The Mk 1 was tricky on the limit, but less so than a just about every pre'90s 911, yes when it lets go it does so quickly. However this is the case for a lot of MR cars, not just the Clio V6. The Mk1 was also a lot more prone to this in very cold or wet weather, and its not impossiable to catch one when it lets go, that I can promise you.
Now, the Mk2, thats a different story, the car is far more communacative and progresive than the Mk1, and while it will step out of line if you push to hard its easier to read the cars limits.
You should remember that any car with a very short wheelbase will spin quicky if you pass the limits, one of my old cars was a Pug 205 GTI. Lift off the throttle (kift-off oversteer) when on a wet bend and the car would quickly swap ends.
Stupidly dangerous? In my opinion, no. Just cars that need a degree of respect when driven hard. Fun and it keeps you on your toes.
