One who does not like the Nurburgring or Sarthe is not a true racing fan.

I am a true racing fan - everyone to their own in my opinion, some people like formula 1, some people like Touring Cars, some like drag racers, and some like Nascar, I just dont like the ring or sarthe, doesent mean im not a racing fan :D

Swiss Alps Reverse. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a fantastic circuit. But when you race the reverse version, you will always get a penalty at the start. Because the AI starts on the left and the racing line is on the right, he will always cut across to get to the optimal line. And because the start is staggered with him in front, you can never out-drag him. He cuts across so quickly that he'll slam into you before you have a chance to react, and you'll get a penalty while he romps away. Alternatively, you can throw the start and wait a moment to avoid being hit, but the AI still gets away quicker.

Tsukuba, every other dirt/snow track. El Capitan reverse and Apricot Hill reverse is a nightmare, IMO. Half of the time, in reverse mode, i don't even know which part of the circuit i am.

NY and Hong Kong is plain nonsense too. 90 degrees corners. No character.

Test Course. I just tried doing the fifth race of the Gran Turismo All Stars in my Toyota Minolta. And in four times out of four attempts, the Nissan R92CP I had spent most of the race drafting nudged me into the barriers during final banked corner, sending me into one of those endless pirouettes.

I hate the chanoix or what ever it is called snow track. I am surprised that a lot of people hat Hong Kong. I know the corners are rather dull but I like the beautiful surroundings.

Chamonix.... spent a couple of days getting licenses again since I started playing GT4 a bit again... and in the special licenses one of the last races is Chamonix in a Renault I believe... and I swear I spent an entire day trying to get that one... I REALLY HATE that track now... with a passion :D

Hated that one, too, when I golded that License test :ill: But now, it isn't that bad, but still.. *cough* ..

I hate Chamonix with such a passion! Worst track I have ever been too! They should have made two versions of it: a normal one without ice and the current one. I would drive in the one without ice all of my life!!

:) Its still bad though... I dont drive it at all anymore... maybe with a good rally car it might be nice to drive?? 💡💡

I agree the first part of the track with no ice or snow is cool... then the snow comes in .. Oh well glad Im not the only one that hates it :)

i've never seen ice on there, isn't that just tarmaq??

 Oops, I meant snow. When I mean normal one I refer to a surface that is not slippery, such as Apricot Hill's surface :)

I know. It's almost like you have to make a mental note to self: watch out for clueless Ai at the start...make sure you get out of their way. even though there's literally half an acre-width of track for them to travel on, they make it a point to cut across and slam into Me.

Parnelli, where in Earth were you, man?
I was starting to miss you!

Ha ha..at least somebody did.

Been playing Elder Scrolls 4 these past couple weeks. I've been so obsessed with it, haven't been on the 'net much... and in general, it's good to take a break from racing, that way when I get back into it, it'll seem fresh and exciting all over again.

Yup. As a working adult, I just haven't got enough time to go thru more than one game at a time. I got Oblivion last October...played it for a month and a half solid, got bored with it, and skipped over to GT again.

Opera Paris has a similar problem too.

Prolly weird, but i like Opera Paris. Lack of grip, but with the Merc Evo, or the Lotus Elise, it's kinda fun to drive. The driving mission made me actually like this track.

Btws, sorry to hijack the thread, but anyone has any setups for the CLK GTR for Le Mans? The brakes on the car kinda suck..

Ice Arena. It's nearly impossible to get a good clean lap there (I did once, in a stock Fiat 500), it's too narrow for passing, it's a snow track, the AI suck badly, especially on reverse, and the track overall makes you want to :banghead:.

Well, in order to get a clean lap, you've to be careful with throttle and brakes.. Also, the fastest way through this course is to drift, for me at least.. Well, you're right when you say that the AI sucks.. They'll bump you if you make a mistake and they won't slow down.. So you should try to overtake as fast as possible (at a good place of course ) and then try to just be faster..

^^I've found that if you drift and slide around lightly, rather than aggressively, you'll get the best results. Especially thru those tight ares. By doing this, you're keeping your car (or truck) pointed in the necessary direction without getting out of control. Aggressive drifting is okay at some off-road tracks, but it's too easy to get penalized here. Ice Arena is also a good track to drive on the side banks if you're having trouble keeping up, at those portions of the track where it isn't quite as tight. If you do it right, your tires (rather than your fenders and doors) are contacting the edge of the curve, so it's not a true wall-ride/cheat. Extra speed can be gained this way. It also allows you to take a shot at passing the opponent without penalization.

Everyone says the same until the know how to drive in it. I really think that exaggeration should be put down when talking about dislikes. Unless you are a very bad driver, and I mean someone as incompetent as to never win a bronze license, it's impossible to spend more than 8 minutes in the 'Ring with a race car. Even relatively slow cars, such as the Mercedes-Benz SL 300 can finish it in less than 8:30 minutes. On S3 tires. Not to mention a race car, which is supposed to be driven in R-class tires.

You're so damn right.. You have to have experience with driving cars on Nürburgring before you make a statement like "Nürburgring ist just too long and you need more than 10 minutes for one lap".. You should do some free runs on the track and you'll get better and better.. The main thing here is that you have to know the track.. 👍

I love the Ring, that's my favorite track!
The one I can't stand is El Capitan.

You don't like El Capitan?:ill: I know this is in your opinion but....

It's just not understandable for me.
It's probaly the elevation changes that makes you dislike it.

Well...

For me I dislike (not hate) Hong Kong.
No explanation needed.:odd:
The Ring...I'm just not used to it.
New York...don't critize me for this but...too many 90's.
The 1,000,000 versions of Fuji...no copliment.
Seoul...too short.

I'll make another post for more tracks.:dopey:
