I can kinda 'see' the second shot...

The first shot you saying at the end of the front straight??? The kink to the left before the right hairpin-esque 1st turn??? I didn't think there was 'that' much elevation rise...

Yeah, that is First Hairpin (I have names for just about every corner on every track ...). PD remodelled every single circuit for GT4 - there's a few nice ones of Trial Mountain floating around and one or two from High Speed Ring and they all look totally different, and much, much better than the originals.

Grand Valley East Section has been axed, I think they're keeping the GT3 circuit where the tunnel was placed over one of the branches to fix up continuity errors regarding the bridge. Not to worry, Grand Valley was (and still is) one of the best tracks ever, alongside Special Stage Route 11, Apricot Hill and Rome to name a few. Hopefully they'll also get included.

Its definately grand valley, and do you race the grand valley east could well be back, see the bollards across the access road in the second picture, there are 4 of these in the new track shots and vids have shown that the track is fully modelled beyond the bollards and without solid barriers across the track, which was not the case in GT3.

So its highly likely the shorter version is going to be in as they went to the effort of modelling it.

Good point, it will just be a bit tighter if PD has to go around the new tunnel, that's all. Be a longer lap, too - no more minute-flat laps of Grand Valley East!

Wouldn't be the first time...

1: Gt1
2: Gt2
3: Gt3
4: Gt4

hmmm, makes sense re-modelling it every time a gt game comes out...
The original tracks weren't re-modelled in GT2. It was really noticeable because they looked grainyer than the new ones up close and the sponsorship banners didn't change between races like they did on the new tracks.

I found the Grand valley stretch (start/finish)!

And here's one of the Fuji circuit.

Um, Dirkiyo, one of those shots may well be Fuji ... but the other sure as hell isn't. Look at the pits in Shot #2 - they don't come close to resembling the pits in Shot #1. My guess? Shot #1 is Fuji - it has a long straight. Shot #2? Tsukuba or maybe Motegi. Is seriously dobut those shots are of the same track

You'd expect the banner over the Start/Finish Line in Shot #2 to read "Fuji Speedway" with the really cool logo from GT4P or something similar, but even though it's blurry, what's written there isn't even close.

I wouldn't be so quick on the draw with that one Do you race?... I'm not 100% but...

If you look closely at the first pic, roughly in the middle you have a kind of 'glass tower' then as you come closer you've got the main building, advertising on top followed by white/blue/white/dark/white/bottom...

If you look at the second pic, glass tower there again, and the main building holds to what is seen in the first pic, the pic is just some distance further down the straight...

I can see the tower in Shot #1 and I can see something resembling it in Shot #2 ... but my eyes are a little sketchy so I can't make much else out. Plus I'm sleep-deprived and over-tired.

Don't fret over it. They are both Fuji and I know this because I have Prologue :). Anyway those pictures are from way, way back. Notice the lack of anti-aliasing on those pictures the same as all the other early(ish) shots.

I'm not a particular fan of the new Grand Valley Speedway mainly because the buildings in the background look out of place, don't ask why they just do ;).

Yeah, the lack of anti-aliasing is probably what got me too. And I agree with you on the Grand Valley issue - the buildings just don't look right, it's as if they've been taped on as an afterthought. Maybe if they weren't so close together, a little more spread out, it would be better.

And the lack of people in the grandstands raises some serious questions.

What a beautiful, sunny, blue sky day for Gran Turismo racing in Post #282, eh, Dirkiyo? In fact, I tend to know both are Fuji, even though the top picture in Post #282 is one I confused a little with Tsukuba. But I think this is the most impressive GT game in existance until we see what GT5 is going to be like with the PS3 (I hear great things about the PS3, but we can discuss elsewhere).

Alpha sir, I don't think the buildings seem out of place. I kind of think of them being more like with Interlagos overlooking Sao Paulo, or Budapest from a certain view point of the Hungaroring circuit. GTs 1 and 2 had buildings in the distance going into the hairpin after the Start/Finish line. I just think that in GT3, it either seemed incomplete or just trying something new (that didn't really work in my view). Don't expect buildings all throughout though. I think GT4 is kind of going back to the original Grand Valley in GTs 1 and 2, with graphical enhancements GT3 gave with much needed improvement.

I'm not trying to start a wishlist, but I'd like to see how Grindelwald, Red Rock Valley, Rome-Night (that GT2 failed to even put into a race series), Special Stage Route 11 (from GT1), Apricot Hill, and all the past rally tracks (Smokey Mountain and Tahiti Circuit as my favorites) would look in GT4. Give it a shot, PD!

I want Special Stage Route 11 back as well. Get rid of Specail Satge Route 5 and make R11 wet if you have to, R11 was way more challenging. And bring back Rome Night as well, that was also challenging. John, it wasn't put into a race series because PD wanted you to race it for the first time when you did the Super Licence to make it more of a challenge.

I wonder if PD could dig up some old tracks that were slated for GT2 but were canned? A few names of abandoned circuits are still floating around: Eiger Path, Palm Strip (even appeared on a demo disc, a rally circuit), North American Roadway and Tahiti Dirt Route 2 (night rally stage!). Sadly they were never used. I wonder where they are now? Maybe they could go into GT4 or the standalone Online Mode disc?

Well im stoked with the list but still a few tracks remaining on the ultimate list.

Spa-Francorchamps (full orignal 14km)
Old Hockienheimring
Le mans (original 17k from the 30-50s maybe)
monza with original banked section from oval
bathurst
road america

suggestions anyone

The 1930s-1950s Le Mans was nothing, just a series of long straights connected by tight corners. It wasn't until 1955 that the trck was changed to include the series of chicanes before the Start/Finish Line following the worst motorposrt disaster of all time - an accident with 79 fatalities (the reason why motorsport is banned in Switzerland). So if they include Le Mans, it should be the current circuit.

And the original Spa was nothing much either, just essentially one big triangle with La Source, Blanchimont and Eau Rouge the only corners that survive today. Mind you, no other game to my knowledge has replicated the 14 km Spa circuit, except maybe Grand Prix Legends.

Does anyone remember the track Red Rock Valley from gt2??? you probally would have blasted around it in a Gt-ONE road car or R390 GT1 because when you won this race you recieved a speed 12 worth 500,000 for resale. it was an awesome track with a few chicanes and lots of heart pounding constant radius high speed corners, if you were feeling crazy you'd pump up a GT-ONE to stage 4 turbo and hit 350 in 2 different spots as well as plenty of 200+ kmh corners is there anyone else who would like to see the return of this awesome track 👍

Do you race?

thanks for the info, yeah i was just reading about that crash at Le mans in legends of speed terrible, maybe it'd be best to see those 2 in current spec (minus mulsanne chicanes on le mans) waddya think

I hate it. I can take the damn thing at full throttle in a 1998 Toyota GT-One or Venturi Atlantique until I get to the chicane between the tunnel and final bend where I always lose it, limp around the final banked corner and do it all over again to catch everyone up. I also noticed that the crossover is lame, just a narrow strip over the track (when you go under it) whereas when you driver over it's about 4 times wider than when you go under it.

And the sun's in a terrible spot too. Please, PD, don't bring it back!

Yeah those are the major ones people want... along with full Pikes Peak...

Two configurations of Le Mans would be nice... pre-1990 (full Mulsanne) and todays configuration.
Same goes for Spa, both todays F1 circuit and old 14km.
Hockenheim - Bring back the forest sections!!! The whole 6.9kms. (pity in RL it was ripped up and trees planted :( )
Monza - Old banking option with todays course... (awesome track went there in 2001)
Bathurst - Of course naturally.
Road America - what I've seen of it in CART it looked fine...

Do you race? If the sun was in a different place would you like RRV to be back... I liked the track, it had some fun elements...

Maybe ... a bit more banking in there, but make the middle section slower so it's not full throttle - we've got High Speed Ring and Motegi Oval for that - ditch the final chicane, move the sun (hey, Kaz is a virtual GOD, he can do it, lol) and change the track surface - I intially thought it was dirt, bought dirt tyres and lost big time - and then maybe, just maybe, I might want it back.

But all those changes would stop it from being Red Rock Valley, so it's an exercise into the pointless.
