Hey Do you race ?

Have you ever seen pictures of the old Spa track ?
There were lots of interesting turns : Burnenville, Masta, Stavelot ... even the Eau Rouge (or Raidillon as we call it in Belgium) was more difficult at this time !

In Burnenville and Masta, only the bravest drivers kept their foot down : 250 km/h through a village ...

The track was so difficult (especially in the rain) that the great Jacky Ickx once took a 30" advantage during the first lap on equal cars !

And I'm not caricatural (I think the Nordschleife is the greatest track ever).

Nobody is talking about it but I think the greatest addition PD can make is Macao. The track was voted best city track last year by Autosport magazine and drivers love it : it's way better than Monaco because you can actually overtake !

Speaking of Le Mans, the race is great but the track is really (and I mean really) uninteresting compared to the Nordschleife, Spa (old or new) or Bathurst.

Well, I've found this map of Spa from 1939 at www.racingcircuits.net but the question we have to ask ourselves is: Is there enough of this track for PD to be able to re-create it? ... Hmm turns out it's too big. Well then, just follow the link, select Belgium, Spa-Francorchamps and 1939 to see it.

Have to say Masta Kink looks like fun.

In fact, only two turns of the old Spa track have been modified :

- Eau Rouge is now easier and faster (it was impossible to take it flat before);
- Malmedy has disappeared in favor of an highway exit ...

So, if PD wants to let us drive on this great track, they can easily fix this two "problems" by using old pictures and movies.

It's really sad they haven't protected the old Spa track as they did with the Nordschleife !

Anyone here for Macao ?

Holy crap that is an awesome page! Takes a good few minutes to load even on 512k but still, a great colletion of images! and theres 6 of them!

Oh yeah and is that graffiti on the Nordschleife track?

Livin' only a 3 hour drive away from the greatest track in the world: "der Nordschleife" 👍

How bizarre. And it looks like nothing is ever done about it! Peculiar... Well, at least that's another detail PD have copied correctly then!! I wonder if all the words are right?? I'm sure there must be someone here sad enough to check some of them!!!

What is the story of the grafitti on the Nurburgring? It is only in one section isn't it?

EDIT: I realized my question was vague. I am asking what is the history/reaosn for the Grafitti at the Nurburgring. I've always known it was there (on one section I think) but am curious why it is there....

looks like it. By the way does any technical person here know how they made 1024x768 images from a console game? I thought Tvs were only like 320x240, and these pictures obviously look better than a tv could possibly show...
DOes anyone know the secret that PD posess?

kensei: My impression that the graffiti is abit like the graffiti we see people do on the Tour de France, it's pretty much put anywhere, although it seems more permanent at the Nurb', dunno for sure though...

Not that I have paid close attention to it, but as i remember reading in photomode you can print your photos in their full hi-res glory.

So most likely the rendering engine in GT4 renders a screen ready low res version and then the larger 8.5x11" (version which is 612x792 @ 72dpi), or maybe it is A4 size given it is a japanese game....eitherway it needs to render an image at least doubel that pixels size (or at at least 150dpi) to make a full page print that looks good.

There's frequently graffiti on track all around the world. One time someone wrote "SENNA: THE GREATEST" down Blanchmont at Spa. It's very true I might add.

Some of it looks like chalk, wonder how much is actually paint, because paint if it's like what is used on the roads it would restrict the amount of grip, especially in the wet, making it quite dangerous...

well, most of it is paint, and it has been that way for a long long time....

There's actually something else that i forgot to mention some time back....it's about the image below. Which track is this? It isn't GrandValley....

Thats Grand Canyon.

Just another thought that just came to me, does anyone know or can list, of all the tracks seen and about to be seen in the GT series, what are clockwise and what ones are anti-clockwise.

Don't count the reverse or 'II' tracks.

I'll have a crack at this one (only new tracks):
Clockwise:
- Nurburgring
- New York
- Citta di Aria
- Costa di Amalfi
- Fuji
- Tsukuba
- Suzuka
- Grand Canyon
- Infineon

Anti-Clockwise
- Georges V Paris
- Laguna Seca

That's all I can think of right now. Feel free to add to/correct that list.

true they could be in photo mode but can you have a picture showing six cars during a race at that resolution?

Sure i understand the cars in the warehouse are photo mode but the ones that look like 6 cars are actually racing. can you do that in photo mode?
