Thats in New Zealand. So slightly dearer there. I Don't have a job and have trouble getting one due to life time Injuries. So I don't get much money so $300 is a hell of a lot for me.

Gek, if you look at your graphs, the important stuff to the physics of a car are what is lacking. Look at both G- related graphs. They are similar, thats about it. Of course they are gonna go up and down together, if you go through a fist gear turn, its going to be less force on the car than in another area....so the graph will register low or high. I think they are pretty different in that regard. Which, is what is truly going to make a simulator over an arcade game.

As for GT4 vs. GTR... i think there isn't much of a comparison. I have been playing pc racing sims for years and in terms of the driving physics and AI, GT4 is kinda weak. DOn't get me wrong, I really like GT4. But if I want to really simulate driving a race car around a race track, GTR would be my pick any day of the week. You can't make a mistake in GTR and get away with it like you can in GT4. I would say in terms of realism...if GTR was a 10, GT4 would be about 8.5. So they are close, but if you really want that extra bit. If you are really all about the realism, play GTR, or F1 challenge 99-02, or NASCAR 2003 season.

I think that they way GT4 is made with no damage, not much of a loss of time on mistakes etc. is good because it allows the ease to pick up and just race. Thats what the game is all about RACING. not damage control, or reaslism in Errors. GT4 is all about making the turns, accellerating properly etc.

There fore I say that these 2 games cannot be compared as they are meant to be totally different. Sure if you want damage, more realistic mistakes etc. then go play something else such as GT-R.

Yeah but if you have to buy a $150 accessory for a $50 game to really shine, then something is seriously wrong with the design.

$200 is just too much to spend for a ******* video game.
You joking?

You should see what other people spend to get a game.

I saw a $3,000 airplane cockpit moduel that was built just for Flight Sim 2004.

I'll get a you pic if you wish.

$300! Abd that's with a $50 reduced price tag!? D*mn!

I bought mine for $110!

I have downloaded the demo of GTR and after 5 minutes playing it I have removed it from my computer.
It's not comparable to GT4.
Is a game similar that you can find in house machines. It’s not a real simulator.

Thats in australia. The're different currencies.

Well lets do the sums right.

The AUS$ is trading at about 79.24 US Cents as of right now.

At the moment the DFP at EB Games in the US is $149.99

149.99*100/79.42= $189.30 Australian

Thats means we pay $110.70 more for the wheel.

What a Rip-Off of a country I live in. Even if they ship the wheel from the US to here it don't cost over $100, expecially in bulk as this is the way everything is shipped.

I didn't realize it was that close. That does suck for you guys. So you can't buy it from an american business and have it shipped in? Or you can, but you have to buy in bulk? Is there a reason that everything costs more there?

I can get it from the US and get it sent down for probably only $50 (MAX) extra AUS$. But then if it stuffs up, I have to send it all the way back and stuff, which I hate so I never get anything from over seas.

As for things in Australia being dearer, yeah we have one of the dearest Economy’s in the world, I don't know why though. I know for a fact that in the US you pay less for the imported stuff from AUS then we pay for own grown produce and products, AUS and NZ also have GST which adds about 10% on then another 10% on taxes and freight, as I don't know the freight and taxes costs I cannot work it all exactly.

The reason there are less fluxes in the graph for Enthusia is more due to the fact that the track in Enthusia is not as detailed with every minute bump that would be on the real track, air turbulance from wind would also create more fluxes. You have to consider these variables when comparing to the graphs.

Gek54 is thinking outside the box :P some people here obviously arent and just want to see flaws but dont look deep into why.

yeah, the sounds were the 1st think that impressed me. I had a cargasm the 1st time i played the original leaked press demo... how long ago was that press demo illegaly released?

I believe you. I've seen it. It's just a farther than GT$ w/DFP in the "more money than sense" category.

Just because some idiot with a flight sim has nothing better to do with their $3k doesn't justify $150 for a PS2 wheel to play one game. Think about it. The wheel costs as much as a new PS2.

Well, alot of controls do, but yes, paying a the same price for a wheel that costs the same as the console you play it on is strange.

But hey,the gaming world is a wonder. I mean, hell, people pay $40 just have a plane in a game. (I'm actually one of those people. :guilty: )

the wheel is worth it if you play other games than gt4. I play Richard Burns Rally, and Live For Speed on the PC with its adjustable steering lock, and soon to be playing Enthusia on the PS2.

The 150 bucks is deffinatly worth it. 👍

I am playing GT4 and Enthusia now....

In simple terms, GT4 for track racing, Enthusia for drifting. 👍

The AI in enthusia is also a little better than GT4s'. At least they dun bump into you(unless you're too slow).

And I also kinda like those tall MPVs in enthusia....hehe :dopey:

Only thing bad in enthusia is the tuning part 👎

Overall, If you've got the dough, get both :)

Mister E
Yeah, how is the drifting in Enthusia?

To describe it real simple, you can drift most FR cars(even low powered) when you off the driver aids without trying. :ill:

For me without a wheel, it gets too much sometimes(cannot get neat laps as car is always sliding). Good thing though that you can correct it easily.

Currently, the best car I've driven is the EVO 8 GSR. 👍 Totally great when powering out of the corners. And you can drift without lock like Jeremy Clarkson in topgear(or in best motoring)

In Enthusia, the handbrake is located at R1 so you can brake/throttle and handbrake at the same time(can't with gt4) to drift better.

Another thing I like is the very short races(max 5 laps). Dunno about harder races though as I am only at level 3 now(max is level 6 i think)

It depends on a car, for example 180sx is easy to lose traction while in silvia s15 spec-r it's harder. Rx-7(FD) is also very grippy, everything depends on a car really. And maybe try watching your speed and check this how you press the throttle :) - yes, throttle control is needed, you can't just slam it all the way.

Gek54
This is true with the DS2 and the old 180 degree wheels. But with the DFP you have linear steering in GT4 and you still cannot pull off realistic donuts.

Not true. There are assits turned on by default, called active steering or something. To get a true experience with the DFP you need to go into the wheel menu and turn assists off then set the steering to sim from the default of amateur.

BTW to the guy who started this thread. Honestly with the DFP and all assists off (car and wheel) GT4 is a totally different game. I first started playing GT4 with the dual shock (and all assists off) as I have always done with GT games. I could make the cars dance. I would almost never lose control, the car was my puppet. Big long drift around a high speed turn with road tyres? Not a problem. Then I got the wheel.

I first took an R34 GTR v-spec II N1 out for a spin on road tyres (no assists of any kind) at Grand Valley. It took untill about lap 6 before I made my first lap without a spin. Playing GT4 with a Dual Shock verses the DFP is night and day. I could do what ever I wanted with a DS but with the DFP I have to make sure all my inputs are as smooth as possible.

Go back on play GT4 without assists and then do your review again.

Yeah...slam the gas and you've got drift! :dopey:

Wow GTR, what a terribly over hyped game.

Going by some in here, you'd think that its the next best thing sinced slice bread, seriously what is the hype behind it ?

I don't care how more "realistic" it is over GT4, the actual driving in GT4 seems way more satisfying and polished.
