GT4 vs Forza [Let the battle begin]

hey forza now has bspec mode with drivatar except it maybe cooler. You go through a bunch of test and it will rate your skill based on how you do in the test then creat a drivatar which you can use to run your races.

Not a forza fan boy by far but its starting to kick some interest in me.

Yeah it is like Bspec but u i dont think u get to watch it and make adjustments in real time. U just run a lap and then the computer watches and grades u on a number of things involving taking a turn like braking accelerating holding the acceleration things that then gives u a percentage point from o-100% on how well u done then applys it and the way u drive to the ai.I think it will copy the way u drive like if u brake hard before entering a turn or tap the breaks and coast into a turn etc etc. Then u can send your avatar online to race against other avatars of similiar skill. or let them race race in career mode or race against them. Doesnt seem to be as much fun as bspecs maybe but it can be a great tool.have to wait.

I think it's alot better then B-spec. You can train your AI the way YOU drive and them make them run your endurance race.

Once you've trained your drivatar you can let it run races for you, in that way it's like B spec only B spec was announced way after Forza said it was going to include the drivatar. However before anyone says anything, neither copied the others idea.

It drives like the person who trained it or something... The player goes for laps around courses and that data gets stored so that the AI would follow the players lines and characteristics... Not sure about it though... Because it brings about a lot of questions (need to set up for every individual lap? If all AI set the same would they have the same characteristics and speed?)
However seeing the capabilities of Live... I'm guessing you will able to download other peoples drivatars... Which would be awesome...

But I'm not the Forza guy so someone else should answer your question correctly...

I'm still buying GT4 but I think Forza is probably going to be the better game.

Better physics in Forza as stated at IGN, which I believe is true after comparing Richard Burns and GT3. GT series is not as hardcore as they make it out to be.

forza,, ha ha ha, what a joke.... i have sat and studied the two games on what i have in videos and the demos and gt4 just kills forza by miles. for starters the car sounds in forza sound like thay are in side a cupboard or a tunnle or sumthing,, and the cars in gt4 really do sound like thay are out in the open. THE grafics in gt4 are alot better considering the xbox is a more powerfull console. and the sence of speed in gt4 is crazy with the dfp wheel, you feel scared when you are hitting 180mph,,etc,,,,but am not going to blab on all day, i am just saying that if you really look in to the two games gt4 cuts it by far... and any way by the time a game doz catch or gets close to catching gt4,,,, gt5 will be on its its way and thay are all going to start all over again..wha wha whaaaaaa....... 👍

I would like to point out that playing GT4 with a DFP is a whole new experience and add to the value of the game. Everyone should experience this once in their live. If only Forza could get a quality wheel like the DFP, GT fans would see how much Forza has value. The tyre and car physic in Forza is top notch. Anyone that says otherwise is nuts. The ABS is so incredibly done. No more slamming the brake before a turn. you have to use it with caution. That is what I call Driving SIMS.

well when gt1 came out on the ps1 every driving game that was ever made was swept aside and all the talk became gran turismo. So what i am trying to say is, ever since the game got released, 1,2,3... Not one game has got close to them all. So what is the point forza.

Forza really doesn't fit into most GT fan's rose-tinted view that GT is like an old but hot chick, and no matter how smart or funny the "replacement" is, she will never fill GT's shoes. There's a personal investment there regardless of game innovation or quality. Even playing with Forza is like betraying that girl thats given you all your skidmarks and donuts for many years (sorry...). This is the problem Forza faces. Market penetration very hard to take from GT and the PS2 install base. Of course Xbox only dudes will buy it, but I doubt many PS2 only guys will get an Xbox just for Forza. Its not THAT much better, for casual players. Especially now that GT4 is trying real hard to keep us interested by getting car shine augmentation and going all pornographic on us with photomode.

Maybe GT4 really is just SEXIER? It certainly has an "X" factor that's difficult to express as its not a bullet point style "feature". This is what all GT fanboys know. There is no doubt that GT series has value but I think PD let down the fan of series of numerous points : No online, bad AI, no car damage and no body kits. You can't deny that GT4 fail short of some points. I'm hoping that Forza will give a kick in the ass to PD and bring GT5 to a all new level.

Honest opinion. Ok fine.

First I'll point out that I've played the forza demo (own it), GTP (own it), Gt4 bmw, GT4 nurb demo (with that uber fast skyline).

Don't get me wrong, I think Gt4 is gonna RULE, but Forza also stands on it's own, it has features that GT4 has, that I wish it did. Granted, it doesn't look as nice, but it sure as hell feels fun to play. I just feel that GT really hasn't innovated much since GT1, which is just abit of a shame. What's there is pretty polished though. The cars in forza feel wilder, more powerful, when you hammer the throttle, the wheels spin like mad, causing the car to shake wildly etc, GT has allways felt abit too tame.

Gt4 certainly looks more realistic, and the 60 fps is a HUGE plus point in my book, forza looks quite rough, but has some damn nice textures, and the cars look really detailed. The tracks on forza do look FAR FAR better though, much more detail and depth to them.

Sound wise, I've noticed that some stuff in GT4 sounds great (the cobra if I remember sounded cool), but alot of stuff sounds terrible, like the zonda, when did a zonda sound like a pencl sharpener? Forza's seem to have more grunt to them, and while not perfect (or near the heady heights of GTR), are much better.

Gt also misses things out, for example I find it comical that on the drag races you can only have ONE car on at a time, you can only have a very limited number of some cars on tracks, no working headlights, no damage, poor sounds, hell after all these years they should be UBER MASTERS at this stuff.

And yes, GT does have this certain appeal to it.

i agree with you on that one about the power of the cars. forza,s cars feel like there is more power there. but we will have to wait and see the finished product from forza to really see if it is really any better than gt4.. 👍

I also believe that the sheer polish and presentation of the game (thats the "X" factor), and the game's respect/placement in the car/game industries is more than enough for casual players to be brainwashed into ignoring GT's short-comings (and saying that its the ((((((king!!1)))))) in no uncertain terms). I believe the writers at IGN were affected by the 'event' status, hype and general big dealness of GT4 when writing their comparison. They liked GT more overall, whilst giving Forza all the kudos (sorry ) when it comes to innovative features. Only the car count and graphics were stated as better in GT4. Hence the "X" factor. Ill agree that the DFP adds some adrenaline to the experience, especially when your cars starts wobble at highspeeds. Feeling the wheel pull side to side violently can be a rush.

Forza does feel better when comparing the games using the standard controler though.

Very good post 👍 I agree with you an 100%. The "X" factor is definetly there. I just wish PD doesn't become an "EA" of the car sim. Forza, Enthusia and GTR are good for the racing fan. It will bring up the quality level of car sims because there is now a healty competition. It reminds me of when xbox launched. Everyone was saying how stupid it was of Microsoft to launch a console. Xbox has come a long way and now it's has become more "Cool".
