GT4 vs Forza [Let the battle begin]

Apparantly Koenigsegg have now been confirmed in Forza along with the ultimate Ferrari's the F40, F50 and Enzo. Porsche's Carrera GT is there to sweeten the deal too. If this title uses these cars effectively and not like NFS then this game is going to be a serious contender. And if the sounds are as spot on as many say they are then driving an exotic is going to be an exhilirating experience. :)

Come on GT, grab the raging bull !!

Going by what I've read and seen regarding these two games I still don't think you can top Polyphonys trademark panache. I may sound like a fanboy, but hey.

This is a Gran Turismo forum, so i think many ppl would go toward GT4 than Forza, plus the new GT4 will have 500+ cars compared to like 50 cars in Forza

I know that this will hurt my heart ( :indiff: ) but see this video and you will begin to think that Forza is veeeery goood... Gran Turismo and KY are sleeping... and Forza is coming very close

Seen it :) Thats the same vid everyone posts! Its the "Buy It..Tune It...Drive It...Drive It Harder! one repackaged as the TGS2004 trailer. Clip of a ferrari badge and that disgusting yellow thing with the lightning graphic down the side. Thats just my opinion on that horrible thing with too many body mods and skirts...why they feature that so much is beyond me

I just watched the Forza Trailer Movie and what can I sya? Not much.
The guy who talked was gay , the movie was gay , and the cars were gay too.

CobraGt, when I say Forza wins for car quality, it goes far beyond Ferrari and Porsche, I'm thinkin lots of car models that are not expected in GT4 but that are confirmed in Forza:Cadillac LMP and CTS-V, Koenigsegg CC8S, the New C6 Vette and many others that were not annouced yet that will be there.

Forza IMO boasts the most balanced lineup between American and European and Japanes cars, race cars, exotics and normal streetcars and don't tell me Daihatsu's are everyday cars, you would'nt drive one publicly, fearing that you'll be booooed. :yuck:

I knew you wouldn't like me for posting this but anyway...

Thanks Lambo88 for the comparison, couldn't agree with you more...

About the tuning and modifications, Forza takes the lead... Why???

GT's tuning process is pretty straightfoward; You pick a car, dump the biggest turbo/intercooler/supercharger in it, and you're off..... Forza on the other hand, goes much deeper.... Not every turbo will make your car reach a higher topspeed/acceleration, as not all turbo's can reach their full potential on certain engines, so it will be your choice to make; for example, will you pick the turbo that pushes your topspeed over 50%, or will you go for the one that gives your acceleration a 50% boost??? Or will you just cope with the one that gives you 25% better topspeed and 25% better acceleration???? Some cars will give you a whooping 75% boost on both factors, depending on which engine is in it.... And if you like the car but not the engine??? Swap it!!!(Although at the moment it's only possible to swap engines of the same make, due to no agreement between the different car manufactuers, but this is being worked on, as M$ says)

Over all that, you can also fine-tune gear ratios, fuel-mapping, forced-induction pressure, tire temperature and pressure, and ignition timing etc. BTW, the cars incur damage and wear, which affects car performance. Advanced tire and suspension models respond to heat and pressure changes, weight transfer and aerodynamic load. Yes people, this game is HARDCORE!!!!

In mods Forza also owns.... You can add real-world body kits, rims, spoilers, decals, side skirts, fender flares, and hood scoops etc. Plus, these cosmetic upgrades don't just change the look on your car, but also changes the handling (aerodynamics)... BTW cobra, Forza has already got a load of amazing aftermarket tuners, more are to be added later:

Hennessey
Saleen
Shelby
Guldstrand
Lingenfelter
Aerogear
Mugen
Wings West
AB Flug
INGS
Sparco
Mine's
Tommy Kaira
APR Performance
Border
Tom's
VeilSide
VIS Racing

It amazes me how some of you know so little about this game..... Too bad though...

Sorry for the long post!!! :)

Whilst I normally ignore posts with the word "owns" or "pwns" in them I have to add fuel to the fire here :)

Why would you want to add fender flares  or hood scoops...and do decals really change the aerodynamics? I might try a few on my car, cause the mpg sux

Each to their own... :P

btw cosmetic upgrades usually depreciate the value of car ;) As one mans pink leather seats is another mans hell...

If I had a Daihatsu, I would get the darkest window tint, then I'll be okay.

It's settled then: Forza loses the battle on account of being...*sigh*... gay.

Nice one Cosmic.

Let's just wrap the thread up, there's no point in debating it anymore.

Hmm... in terms of variety, here goes:

GT4 has more 'normal' cars. More Civics, Evos, Lancers, Imprezas, etc. Stuff you see everyday. The good thing about GT4 is there's something for everybody. You can find the car that you own and soup it up, or just leave it stock to see how it performs. There is a high chance your car is in the game and that's just plain awesome. It also has some exotics and quite a few racecars.

Forza has more exotics, and a better variety of exotics. Not including the race cars, GT3 has a Pagani (Zonda and Zonda S, the same car), the XJ220, the Vanquish, and the Cobra. There are some neat concepts here and there, but that's it for street-legal cars. Forza has Ferraris, Porsches, Koenigseggs, Paganis, the SLR, CL65, etc. And it still has Skylines, Civics, and some 'regular' cars, but not as much. You still get Evos, Imprezas and the like, but there aren't 18 of each (17 Evos on the concept car list for GT4, I think!) just 1 or 2. Which is fine for most people. It also has lots of LM cars in plenty of variety, but again not as extensive as GT4s.

In terms of tracks, they are both equal. They have plenty of street racing, drag racing, and road racing, and both feature the infamous Ring and Laguna Seca (Forza might have Le Mans, I think I heard)

That is what I hope sums it up... feel free to correct me, I haven't memorized GT3 and 4's car lists...

I know I've said it before, but for me the Forza has GT4 beat because I can do a CGT vs Enzo battle at the Nurburgring.

If GT4 could do that and Forza could it would the other way around.

Hell, Forza would still win if it was simply a Carrera GT vs Enzo simulator(Forza - other cars)

Sorry for the long post!!! :)

What's truly amazing are some of these assumptions. First off is MS makes the "bodykits" effect aerodynamics...then that's false. VIS, Veilside, and WingsWest are cosmetic upgrads that have little to no effect on handling/aerodynamics as far as performance goes. Nothing noticable.

And as far as tuning...you obviously didn't dig deep into GT3, because all of that stuff about "accelleration" etc...is more determined by your differential and gear ratio, rather than just your "turbo".

GT4 is DEEPER than 3, so tuning will be better, loads better than forza...at least from what you describe.

Learn something about cars and tuning...and maybe the game you are trying to put down, before you hype up another with invalid points.

Forza will be good, but it will NOT beat GT4 on it's FIRST iterration...it will take one or two more to SERIOUSLY compete with it...and by that time PS3 will be out and polyphny will be on a whole new playing groune...MUCH more goodies.

So your telling me that if you add spoilers/ to your car, it wont affect downforce, which in turn won't affect the way a car handles??? Come on man, you're telling me to do my homework??? And tell me why GT's tuning is better than Forza's What does it offer that Forza doesn't???

And no, I didnt dig in GT3 to much, it didn't appeal to me as much as GT2... And why can't Forza beat GT on it's first try??? everything is possible dude, you shouldn't be up in PD ass so much.... GT has flaws, accept it, it isn't the God Game some of you claim it to be..... Forza may be a newcomer, also with flaws, but it seems like it has more to offer than GT4....

And so...round 252 has started...

If you want an argument, first read the other 100 pages of this thread, these are the same arguments going round and round and round and round in circles...there is no new info, the vids that are posted are the same ones, the screen shots are the same ones...

"More to offer"...not for everyone, I for one don't want to be putting body skirts, fender flares or decals on my car...you go ahead and ruin a perfectly good car if you want :) but you don't speak for everybody.

btw I think the phrase is "up PD's ass so much" although neither phrase is particularly useful here :)
