by your logic, the car should stop running after a head on collision with anything at 150mph, and should not be drivable in the condisions that the game is capable of.

The developers said fully simulated performance damage and if it's well
implemented, that is what will happen. The demos seems to have the performance
damage disabled (I assume you know it will be possible to choose between three levels of performance damage).

^^^ He's right, the full damage mode has yet to be seen.

It is said to make the game extremely difficult as you can touch the wall and be quite dissadvantaged for the rest of the race. It hasn't been enabled during the demos as it's something you can only use once you are used to the physics of the game. Otherwise you have to restart every time you hit something - at 20mph let alone 150! Wouldn't make for much of a demo experience if you had to restart at the first corner 15 times.

Btw, finally played bmw demo lol, gotta say it's quite abit better then GT4p, the car rolls and tips in a much more realistic way, and I love the way the car bobs and bounces over bumps constantly. Very good indeed, I even found my self spinning once or twice on the nurb trying to take corners at PGR2 speeds, and being instantly slammed in to the walls, shame it only had one (well 2 if you count the diesel) car though (and a slow one at that). The Nurb looked quite good too in places, the track it self was pretty average looking, textures were pretty awful, but the overall look of it was quite cool and the trees, even though 2d looked really cool in the distance as there were LOADS of em. Other tracks looked GT4p quality, but the other one (not new york) is damn good fun (even if the much vaunted 3d spectators are rubbish). It's got some hairy first gear corners hehe. TBH I prefer these citta style tracks over the race tracks and city tracks, i find the steep inclines, sharp corners etc so much more fun then flat boring race tracks. The secenery is also far more interesting if you ask me, loads of palm trees etc ;). Loverly hehe.
This is probably what the final version probs plays like, and well, it's good (played with pad and driving force pro). Sound effects were still crap though.

Yes, thanks for the review of the BMW demo kev! It clears up some things reading from someone like you, who points the flaws in GT. It seems to be a very honest opinion, I like it. 👍

Aside from these two problems in the "review" it's good.

The tracks are average compared to what? lol...GT4 looks a bit above average compared to other racers..sooo...

The other things I did not like is your comment on the spectators...because we all know that the billboard flat spectators were better..*rollseyes*.

Nice review again, but you can't knock something that can't get better on a limited system like PS2. That's like knocking a guy riding a bike because he couldn't keep up with a motorcycle isn't it :P lol. Nice review again.

Thanks peeps, I aim to please (nudge nudge, wink wink) :)

I'm not suggesting the flat ones were better ofc, but the 3d ones seemed to lack...well motion, most of em stood still, which is fine in most cases (and it's fine here too), but after hearing all the "AI in spectators BS" here before, I thought I'd mention it. I'm aware it's PS2 limitations, and for a ps2 game, it's incredible.

The tracks are average compared to what

TBH saying it looked average is abit misleading. I should have thought about that one abit more lol. Pretend I didn't say that ;)

But anyway, as I said, it's great to play, still abit tame on the acceleration (:(), but when you get going it's fantastic. 👍

lol...I'm starting to think me and code might actually be capable of getting along, lol...

And I for one am not a fan of in cab views, they are a bit too...cluttered...for a racing sim, the "bumper" cam is fine, or maybe a view where you can see the hood etc...but the in car with full dash is a bit much.

I like how they did the in car cam in Pro race driver 2. You get a feeling of being in the car without having instruments and stuff cluttering it up.

I personally like to see 3d modelled wheels and switchgear, but as you said, that would annoy most people.

lol, it doesn´t have to, this thread is always on the 1st page anyway. :P

New interview re: forza: http://www.xboxaddict.com/interviews/view_interview.php?Interview_ID=48

Note they DO NOT have Lamborghini! Could there be a slim chance that PD do?

That interview has me doubting their initial "tune it like you want" philosophy, what with the GT-ish "packages" they mention. What happened to the "thousands of real world parts" deal?

I can just picture them aping GT's clunky upgrade system. Shame.

About the Lambos... wasn't there supposed to be a game called Lamborghini game by Rage software? Or was that scrapped... Maybe they still have the license.

I'm sorry, but honestly, once that vid starting, or even when the i saw the thumbs, it ain't looking too good. It might be that my eyes have been covered by a GT4-love layer(...), but its looking arcadey, it might be more detailed and stuff, but meh..

Are those sparks when the cars touch each other? Looks weird.

yeah that looks glitchy as hell.

but what bothers me more is the damn wheels and tires! the wheels are still wayyyyyy too small in diameter, and the tires are way too fat. looks bizarre on a car that has low profile rubber.

funny, the GT3 looked fantastic in PGR2.

One of the IGN videos from last week shows that it's possible to choose one specific part to replace.

No, their's only 17 tracks in Forza. He's probably talking about the career mode, where you do 60 events or something. If not, then what a surprise.

I think they said 17 environments in previous previews.
Maybe they have several tracks in each environment.
