GT4 WRS Week 11: "WRS Team Event, Part 1"

I must have lowered my car too much, my times are in HELL!

Hey mate, fellow brit. Chill out man, have a 'shmoke and a pancake' or somat! Worked for me!!!!!!!

Lovely jucy, succulent 10oz rump steak, pepper sauce, jacket, salad. Followed the advice in my sig, relaxed and then ran over a second quicker at T2!

Last night i was a basket-case! Wanted to throw ps2 out window and smash dfp into a thousand bits! C'est la Vite (i think, deliberately failed French mocks so i didn't have to learn a dead language over 23 years ago! Took up Latin instead, more useful!)

Just bettered my splits with the same settings, only marginal @T1&T2

BUT over .5 of a second off at the line with a MAJOR 6th of a minute milestone beaten!!! Nay CRUSHED!

Those times were run with a 100% default setup with all allowable mods. No matter what settings I try to change, it makes the car slower. I ran these times in the first 10 laps this week and haven't been able to better them.

Is the consensus opinion that the rollcage is detrimental to the car's handling around this track? If so I'll be off to the Honda showroom in no time!!!!!

Most say yes, and probably so would i last night!

But instead of using other's settings i set everything to default, and then tuned the suspension as it would be done in 'real-life', tweaked it a bit, taken into account the stiffer chassis, and IMO have came up with a decent setup that transforms an under-steering pain, into a joy-to-drive fun car!

And my 2.5 second improvement today alone( over 6.5 secs since tuesday) proves my point!

Mind you, doesn't say my settings are
a) gonna work for anyone else
b) Anyway near the fastest

But they work for me!

Been chasin' the same ghost for two days, finally put it all together tonight and beat it by almost a full sec., watched replay, wrote down t's, jumped over to photo mode to make sure it was clean............forgot to save ghost ............looking for gun as we speak!

I bought a new car today and slapped on the roll cage and your settings. I've put 4 miles on the car and already have seen T2 @ 1'04.7 (but it was a dirty lap from T1). The next lap was slower at T2, but still a milestone lap:

T1: 24.235
T2: 1'05.130

Still see .4 or so left on the course.. hope to get it all nailed down.

Finally got some time to put some laps down. After the first 30 or so....

T1 - 0:24.912
T2 - 1:05.781

I believe there is still another 1.5 seconds out there, I was slow in many places but alas, thats the price of a clean lap. Haven't used the roll cage yet, might try it later as it seems its helping some people...although I have seen as low as 24.6xx in T1 and 1:05.4xx in T2 so I might leave well enough alone!

haha holl01's setup is too out of control for me
stock, with b.b at 4/4 and ride height at 78/76 has worked perfect for me so far

Grrr, getting 25.107 (Seen a 24.9 but I tapped a wall slightly) T1's with stock settings but T2 slips to 1'07.204

I can go fast OR I can go clean but I can't seem to get both. And my T3 absolutely sucks.

I might try drifting the corners from now on - I can't get much slower!

Funny:

Not only am I one of the few using the roll cage, stiffer suspension than stock, AND not using the tranny trick (gears 1 through 5, auto at 8!), but I'm doing pretty good this week! I wonder if it's me or just the odd set-up, though....

i'm a driver who hates using aids, and i consider LSD as an aid. still, i think the next time i play, i might tweak them a bit more, i think suspension needs a bit of work.

i know i can get to hotbois t2 split cos i made a .4 second mistake in my best lap so far. i will try some more laps soon, so far i've done about 300km. catchya.

Very nice times Z. I wondered when you would uncork at hot one. You say you are using the roll cage? Hmmmm.

I also tried holl01's setup, and it seems that the harder you push it, the better it works. So far just did 5 laps or so in it, but got a T1 dirty 24.489 and T2 of 1'05.211, and the final split was the fastest I've run yet. Don't put this time on the leaderboard!
Will hopefully get one more shot to clean up that lap before Tuesday.

@holl01. I also thank you sir for posting this setup. A true sportsman. 👍

Hiya peoples, I won't be doing the team thing most likely, but I'll try and get something in for each week... I got to put down a bit of time on it last night, and then a "few" hours today, and came up with this:

Lost a couple hundredths right at the T2 point and then at least a couple more before the start finish line, so it's not that fast, but I couldn't get back to that insanely fast bit up to T2... So that time is going to be submitted in a lil bit...

Here are some T times from my run. Have only run about 10-15 laps. Didn't count. Will drive some more to better that T2!!!

T1: 24.879
T2: 1'07.148

I can't really understand what I did wrong. The T2 is terrible! I even think I made a quite good tabac, but... according to the T2 it was not good. if I improve the T2, the total laptime should be maybe 0.5 sec faster.

As KLR142 comes out of nowhere, to claim Div3. Very nice times. 👍 Gonna be hard for me to chase, but I'll give the effort. (Care to tell your secret? hmmmmm?)

My secret? Well, hmm... I dunno, but here's the jist of the settings I used:

Springs 13/14
Shocks at 6 all around
Ride height, dumped in the weeds, (55/55)
Camber 2.5/1
Toe 0/0
Sways 6/6

Tranny is gear trick, with a 4.560 final, a maxed out first and second gear, then the rest adjusted to blend in, thus I'm using 2nd in the tighter stuff, and going up to sixth and almost redlining it coming out of the tunnel.

Limited slip is at 5/10/5, but I was considering using something like 5/12/5 just for a little more traction in some corners, but I didn't get that far, and it might be worse coming out of turns anyway due to it being harder to rotate. I also had a stiffened car, a non-stiffened car is something that I'd like to experiment with, but I don't think I'll be seeing GT4 again before this week's end.

I was in sunriver for a few days, that's why I hadn't posted anything earlier

Oh, and no aids, and full downforce.

There are many reasons for that, but the key reason is discussing settings vs lap times.

Now for the big news...
