So, who aims for a fast lap at this track must have a decent amount of madness :mischievous: I wonder whether I will be able to break the next second barrier or if it's only for the aliens. TM has always so much time left...
Agreed, on all points.

I have a bigger chance of going off or spinning than simply not going fast. With the Alfa last week, I was having trouble going faster through corners and whatnot. Here I'm having trouble keeping the car under control.

Just ran about 5 laps in the Woodone Tom's.

15.960
34.424
59.032

Nice combo 👍

I am traveling until next Saturday, so I won't have much time to clean this one up. :(

Just a reminder, otherwise the leaderboard guys will have a nightmare trying to sort this out::::

Week 148 Race Specifics:

When posting your splits, only post splits for your fastest run.

Feel free to discuss your other split times and display them if you want, but please keep them seperate from your fastest splits. Perhaps bolding your best spilt times would help?

Thanks.

I've been trying to get the times of Mr P for the past 2 hours or so. Then I realized thats probably why he is in Div 1 and I'm still Div 2.

But that only convinced me to take a bit of a break. I'm not stopping though, I have a certain second barrier to beat, both in a sector and overall laptime!

Well I don't get mad that soon but you're right: guys, please only post t's if they are faster than your previous ones.

=Woodone - 14.388 / 32.088 / 55.886
Castrol '01 - 14.519 / 32.063 / 55.963 ( seen 14.3 / 31.9 and 55.7 so loads left )
Castrol '00 - 14.595 / 32.227 / 56.071 ( heavy and slow in this one :( seems no match for the others )
Cerumo '01 - 14.361 / 31.859 / 55.654 ( best car yet 👍 )
Denso Sard - 14.502 / 32.163 / 56.022
Umphhh, now that's an example of a post I'm not too eager to see dear Ron :sly: that is from an updaterers point of view of course.

Oh, and Bigracer, I'm not using a DFP, just a DF. The original one.
I only distinguish between wheels and ds2's so i'll leave it like it is ok?

Happy birthday WRS
hear, hear!

Luxy update with esh in div2 colours for the first time 👍

My input:

I had one lap in each car this morning before work, to quickly feel out the best one for me.
Here is what i found (remember, this is my opinion, nothing else)

The Denso understeers more than any other car, but that helps it feel more stable, and can be more predictable, yet it doesnt help it to corner without losing more speed, and speed is what we need. 👎
The '00 toms is a good car, but is a little skittish, and doesnt appear to carry the speed as well as the '01 car, which is very inspiring. This car gives you confidence to drive it, and very fast times from lap one. Turn in is good, though oversteer can catch you out.
The woodone has a better sound through the tunnel, as its using a different powerplant, and due to the non-mental horsepower hike of 12%, handles much better than the others IMO. In fact, i'd go so far as to say it shouldnt be in the list. Its got more torque by feel, and therefore more depth for faster laptimes i think. Seems to be a lot softer sprung, too. 👍
The au cerumo has always had my favourite colour scheme, and was the only supra i bought in GT4 to compete in the JGTC championship races, and surprisingly (i was expecting the toms '01 to be top) appears to be outstanding from the get-go.
I found it turned in well, was maybe a little stiffly sprung, but made up for that in its ability to pivot when required on the longer turns, under power.
It seems a well balanced car, and will probably get most of my time this week, if im not totally convinced to use the woodone.
Finally, i would like to point something out that hasnt really been touched upon yet this week: top speeds.
I changed mine down to 280 to begin with, as a car would reach top speed by the end of the longer straight at that setting, but it had an adverse effect on the handling of the car, making it turn in a lot easier, but slide off too easily and give me grass and walls to look at. 👎:yuck:
So, i changed all my top speeds to 350, to go to the other end of the scale, and what did i find?
Well, the longer gearing makes the car feel smoother, less urgent, and gives you a longer acceleration period round turns, meaning the back end isnt trying to break contact with the floor so often, and instantly, i get faster T's.
Isnt that what everyone wants.

Good luck to everyone, its a very interesting race set up, and a fitting tribute to the WRS's Birthday

I think it will raise some issues this week

:irked:👍

I never read the race specifics in detail before I posted my splits for all cars ... best hang me at dawn and leave me out as bird food! ... I fully deserve it :sly:

:P

Sorry, but the usual question at Trial Mountain:

Is the concrete on the outside of the rumble in the chicane track... or not?

Sorry for the delay in answering this question, Niels.

The answer is yes, the concrete areas outside the rumbles are part of the track

How about the first tunnel? I think I have 3 wheels on that inside part on my fastest lap, but I don't know if that's considered like "concrete outside of the rumble".

I noticed with my top speed at 300, I was reaching 16x mph at the end of the straight, but with 340, I was reaching 170+

I think even though the speed is higher, the gears match the torque band better.

EDIT: And there's a few areas where I'm staying in a lower gear to limit my speed just for the sake of controllability.

That sounds OK, but if you are nearing the end of the week then pass your replay over to someone for a 2nd opinion, or post in this thread an image of the area of concern.

You mean like this?

I never actually "touch" the wall and the analyzer looks fine, but that's just too close to call, I'm really hoping I beat that time with a cleaner lap.

Thanks to VEXD for the car writeup. I think I must agree about the Woodone's superior characteristics tho at my level the differences must be of another magnitude :) It was also to be expected because the car stems from a much newer JGTC season.

New splits in the Woodone: 15.658 - 34.344 - 59.055

and luxy update of course :sly: ... inching towards Kenny and Kevin 👍 Nice turnup for Div3 this week guys!

EDIT update up to post 49 51 57

A possible suggestion for the results thread pic (sorry I didn't paste together all 5 cars - too bleeding much work):

A first session resulted in this splits:
T1: 15.355
T2: 33.902
T3: 59.096

Run with the woodone since only the woodone and the tom '00 are available to me (still only at 25% in gt mode). Seems that i lost allot of time in between t2 and t3 wich is not a very big suprise to me. I'm really having troubles with the turn after the straight :(.

Now remember this is a D3 guy talking here, so here goes. My fastest car so far is the WOODONE. As for an description like VEXD, I won't do as most of the time its driver error that changes most laps. I liked driving the Tom's 01 best so far as it only took one lap to come up with a comparable lap time. I think I need to start driving cars in the game with RSS's as I'm defiantly not familiar with using them. I enter corners comparatively slow, braking early and accelerating quickly off and with stickies I'm turning in way too early When we LAN race we use RH. I am familiar with the hards sliding a bit. All in learning.
Having fun with this one too, Sphinx.. Thats quite a combo to celebrate 5 years. Awesome...!

Ran a bit last night - used the Woodone only

14.659
32.838
56.677

T1 is the closest to mistake-free, but even there I left at least 0.25 on the table. I'm still trying to get used to the understeer and the relatively long braking distances. It'll be the Cerumo's turn next given the general consensus of its speedyness

Seems that i lost allot of time in between t2 and t3 wich is not a very big suprise to me. I'm really having troubles with the turn after the straight :(.

For that turn, I brake just before the end of the shadow. I brake to 3rd gear (top speed 290) and 115kmh. Try not to get your exit too wide.

First time I've focused on anything but a production car. Three crashes in my first two laps and I really doubt I'd have walked away from all of them. What a rush though!

Apologies for newb question but I can only seem to find two of the Supra's, the Tom's 00 and the Woodone. Going Arcade > Time Trial > Trial Mountain > Toyota and those seem to be the only two that are there. Am I missing something painfully obvious? My disc is NTSC U/C.

Run with the woodone since only the woodone and the tom '00 are available to me (still only at 25% in gt mode).

I'm at about 91% or so in gt-mode, but the '00 Tom's Castrol, and the Woodone are also the two only available Supra's in my arcade mode :dopey:

Decided to take them both out on the track for a first spin tonight. First I gave the Tom's Castrol '00 a try. Found it to be a nervous and twitchy ride... 8 laps or so yielded these splits:

15.764
34.191
58.616

Then I got into the woody (as you guys seem to call it round these parts), and boy oh boy, what a great car compared to the Tom's. Much more smooth and controlable. OK, maybe it tends to understeer a tad more than the Tom's, but I'll gladly take that for the ride comfort!

10 laps saw me break the Tom's total time by 2 seconds and gave me these splits:

15.026
32.955
57.112

Still quiet a bit of room for improvement though.

Wasn't planning on buying a new Supra in gt-mode to make it available in arcade, but after I read what is posted about the Cerumo, I might just try that one too :sly:

You have to own (or have owned) a car in GT-mode first, than it automatically becomes available in arcade mode.

@ 340

WOODONE

Losing massive amounts of time after T1, way to much braking. Don't own the Cerumo so I have to buy it everytime and always forget to save so I thought I would give the WOONONE a shot.

Had some more laps in the Cerumo, here's my best clean lap so far ..

14.345 / 31.858 / 55.504 ( had 14.2 / 31.600 and stuffed it before T3 :ouch: )

There's still a few tenths for me to grab and I will be concentrating on this one car for the rest of the week .. when I get time that is :)

Good luck to all

Well I'm officially torn between the au Cerumo and the Woodone. Both the Tom's are strong and the Denso has a little too much downforce from my feel of it. That car just isn't as free as I'd like it to be. Anyways I ran about 40-50 laps today in a combination of the Toms '00, Woodone, and the au Cerumo. I'm making slow progress and need to clean up the right hander after t1 and the big sweeper left hander. I know those are my spots that I can/could pick up the rest of my possible time. Splits for all other cars off about 3-5 tenths right now. I like the variety this week. Now if only I can get in the Denso and really bust out some progress...
