My input:
I had one lap in each car this morning before work, to quickly feel out the best one for me.
Here is what i found (remember, this is my opinion, nothing else)
The Denso understeers more than any other car, but that helps it feel more stable, and can be more predictable, yet it doesnt help it to corner without losing more speed, and speed is what we need. 👎
The '00 toms is a good car, but is a little skittish, and doesnt appear to carry the speed as well as the '01 car, which is very inspiring. This car gives you confidence to drive it, and very fast times from lap one. Turn in is good, though oversteer can catch you out.
The woodone has a better sound through the tunnel, as its using a different powerplant, and due to the non-mental horsepower hike of 12%, handles much better than the others IMO. In fact, i'd go so far as to say it shouldnt be in the list. Its got more torque by feel, and therefore more depth for faster laptimes i think. Seems to be a lot softer sprung, too. 👍
The au cerumo has always had my favourite colour scheme, and was the only supra i bought in GT4 to compete in the JGTC championship races, and surprisingly (i was expecting the toms '01 to be top) appears to be outstanding from the get-go.
I found it turned in well, was maybe a little stiffly sprung, but made up for that in its ability to pivot when required on the longer turns, under power.
It seems a well balanced car, and will probably get most of my time this week, if im not totally convinced to use the woodone.
Finally, i would like to point something out that hasnt really been touched upon yet this week: top speeds.
I changed mine down to 280 to begin with, as a car would reach top speed by the end of the longer straight at that setting, but it had an adverse effect on the handling of the car, making it turn in a lot easier, but slide off too easily and give me grass and walls to look at. 👎
So, i changed all my top speeds to 350, to go to the other end of the scale, and what did i find?
Well, the longer gearing makes the car feel smoother, less urgent, and gives you a longer acceleration period round turns, meaning the back end isnt trying to break contact with the floor so often, and instantly, i get faster T's.
Isnt that what everyone wants.
Good luck to everyone, its a very interesting race set up, and a fitting tribute to the WRS's Birthday
I think it will raise some issues this week
