We've had 2 consecutive race cars (weeks 42 and 43) and I could almost hear you crying for some sport tyres. :D
Here they are, propelled by an old but great flat-six. If only the car had brakes :mischievous:

This actually looks very nice 👍

Im gonna submit my WRS 43 (beware i have a close call which im prepared to be called a DQ) and race WRS 44.

i tought i was going to see the yellow bird at nurb... nice choices...

i first looked at the pic and i tought: "wow, 7 yellow rufs in one picture"

:dunce:

of course, nice sequence:tup:

:scared: this shall be interesting...

not a huge fan of the "Yellowbird" but i will give it a crack for the hell of it...

first 30 minute session having trouble with consistency but i know there is oodles of time to be made on these splits, 1.0-1.5 seconds i reckon...

T1: 24.386 (23.9xx)
T2: 53.347 (52.7xx)
T3: 1'08.940 (1'07.9xx)

and if i get the T3-Finish figured out i will be happy...

and i have a sneaking suspicion that Dan will obliterate all comers this week... if his Yellowbird licence test was anything to go by...

*drools* Yellowbird....

*sees the track* And my hopes are dashed. My least favorite track in the entire game. :( Maybe the car can make up for it. :)

cool, i have driven the yellow bird around a few times in trial mountain, nice combo

Never had a chance of driving the Yellowbird much.

This seems the perfect occasion 👍

I can't wait to try it out :D

The Wizard.

That's a great picture you've used in the first post cyril. 👍

Regarding the race, I don't know if I can compete.
Maybe but I'm not sure.

I've got 2 other races I want to do, a job interview this afternoon (which may lead to a job that takes a great deal of my time), and finally, I'm not a big fan of the yellow bird when it is all crazy like this. :boggled:

Looks like it will be a fun race but the Yellowbird is just too much for me to handle in the full quick tune arcade form.
I've gotta be honest though, full quick tune or not, this is still 100% better than what I know the NRS yb week will be... N2s and "realism." :indiff:

Anyway, once I get the chance to run a lap in this race I will do it and come back with t times and complaints. ;)

Now I should be getting ready for school.
So until next time,
-Kent

Oh boy, don't know about this...:nervous:

I think I've managed to do some good times at the track, though I don't like it, but have always hated the RUF cars. Just never seem to be able to get them to handle properly.

Loved the week 42 challenge though I hate Seattle, wasn't all that happy with last week, and this one brings with it a certain sense of foreboding.

Flat-out, do you have some kind ESP link to my brain in picking out tracks I hate????:yuck:

Unfortunately, I've got to wait another 5 hours or so for my 24 hr race to finish before I try this combo out. I just can't stand not having the Bentley in my garage....

Not sure i've got the patience or skill to be any good at this one. I've already launched my DS2 in fury  after only a 30 min session.

T1 - 0'24.108
T2 - 0'53.439
T3 - 1'08.795

O yea, sounds like my hands will not leave my dfp at all this week..lol. Div II demotion, here I come...haha. ;)

Jerome

Yay! One of my Fav tracks!

And I've been driving Porche's all week on the PC!

Brilliant, serendipitous, ;)

Neil

Sounds like a cool combo, I'll give up TT for a few days so I can participate in this week's WRS. 👍

Mine too! But, are you sure that the Porsches on NFS will handle the same way this does? An ice skate? Lol, this is definitely going to be Ruf.

Sweet picture Cyril!

I hope I end up being able to manage this beast in this setting, and enjoy it...

Too true mate,

they do tend to like to coast around a corner tho, do the braking early and maintain cornerspeed with a feathered throttle.

Neil

cool!!!
i love it when you can put the race up this early flat out!!!
means i'm all in this week.

its valentines day next week tho, so i hope i'm not too loved up to submit my time!! :ouch: mind you, with a partner like vexd :grumpy: , i cant see that being an issue, he's even vexd on valentines day!!!! :scared:

arent these cars notoriously slippy, or am i mixing it up with something else?? :dunce:

yeah, the yellowbird is really oversteery, takes alot of skill to go fast.

I just realized the only thing that could make this race better is the lack of the words "fully modified" and +20% power, -10% weight. We havent done a single race since ive been back that hasnt been like this, is there a reason were not using cars that are "+0%, -0%"? We used them all the time before (in GT3) although i know it didnt have the capacity to make changes like this in arcade mode..
Same with GT mode. every race weve done in GT mode, if i remember right, has been full mod. Any reasons?

I'd have to agree with you there. I'm not a fan of the '+20% power' that seems to be a matter of course for the Arcade races. More often than not it's just not necessary IMO.

God, this bird's a right handfull!

Not that I would normally complain :sly: , but, no! Really!

Understeery, oversteery, brakes about as effective as sticking a foot out the door and dragging it on the ground, traction control still kicking in in 4th.
Is this the best that RUF can do with a brilliant car (the Porche 911)? god help anyone who has one in R/L!

What does RuF stand for? Anyone know?

Is it Ridiculously Underqualified ****wit's?

or

Regularly found Under Freight-liner's?

or

Rapid, Useless and Frightening?

It's going to be a long week!:indiff:

well at least we're back in arcade mode. being a bird, its not good having to know how to tune your car as well as drive it. :dopey: :dunce: :dopey:

those races should last two weeks!!!! 💡

I know and I'm always testing with and without full power. But in the case of the Yellow Bird, running at +0% power doesn't improve the grip much.

Apricot Hill reverse has always been my favourite track (I insist on reverse). It's flowing and has no particular difficulty. The chicane, the hairpin and the blind lefthander can't be considered difficulties, can they ?
It's all a matter of rhythm : swinging the rear end at the correct moment. And it's an RR (the first RR car we use in the GT4 WRS), which even makes swinging the rear end very easy.
...
Ok, perhaps way too easy

As for the pic, yeah, I like it too. 10 minutes to capture the pics on the USB stick and 10 other minutes to cut all 7 images to make only one.

Maybe this video will help inspire a few us to get to grips with this beast. Or at the very least it'll prove that the car's a handfull to drive in real life too. A real RUF Yellow Bird @ the Nurburgring. Don't know who the driver is but he's definately got balls:

For more than 60 years the name of RUF has been associated with the automotive industry and has meant quality and craftsmanship. It started in 1939 when Alois Ruf, Sr. first formed his company, “AUTO RUF”

Love the Yellowbird:lol:

Apricot Hill is one of my favorites tracks too, but not in reverse. Nothing against it though.

New car and track for me :nervous:
Thanks for the video 👍 gave me a few ideas of how this beast is going to be  LOL

Squirrely :indiff:
Hard enough trying to chase down Div 1 times, now I'm going to be chasing the car too ?

Can't wait to try this out later today 👍
Grumbles and grief to come later :dopey:

Big, BIG, BIG, BIG one's!

Fantastic video, and he even takes one hand off the wheel (apart from changing gear) a couple of times.

Wonderful.

Neil

That video, if it is the same one I have...
(in WRS style results ;) )

8'17.??? Stefan Rosler Yellowbird

Quite a lap but to be honest, I think the reason that bird seems so hard to control in that lap is because of how hard the driver is pushing. 👍
He's an amazing driver- that's for sure.

Anyway, just wanted to drop in and mention that. ;)
Catch you all later. :D
