I am stilll thinking about what car I'm going to drive this week,I just cannot find a good setup for the Tommy kaira ZZ-II,and the "Flying Fridge",how I like to call the Chaparal 2J,is simply that: a flying fridge,or should I say, flying air condition system...well it looks like it.......

Maybe Ill run in a Skyline GT-R or in the Nissan GTR concept.

electric, please take a look at my (bigracer) and other contributions to gtvault where all the setups you need can be found ... actually the kairas are a good choice, especially the small one. if you pick a skyline take the mine's, that is a real winner.
good luck

T6 : 3'01.051
Top speed : 363 km/h

Ay! Jerome!

Get the LB updated!

I should have had the pleasure of sitting in 2nd for the last 18 hrs

INFRONT of you!:sly: :sly: :sly:

Ain't it a larf?

Neil

Man o man....sorry Neil but I had Jury Duty the last 2 days and my time had been pretty limited. I'll try and get around to it later.

Jerome

Haven't had much car testing time atm, but had a quick run in afew, still not happy with my times. Too many choices so little time.

I have considered a few Le Mans options and feel they'd handle better than a standard supercar or other. Although the ZZII is tempting.

Took the SRT-4 out for a tad bit, and WOW, it's a LOT like the 240, well, in braking anyway... Handles awesome, brakes awesome, now if only you could push the gas pedal when you exit a corner... And HA, they thought it was a beast in stock form, lol, this thing is INSANE! I love it! I think I'll race it competitively this week as well. Screw the three Eras thing, because I think I want to try out the Nardo too. And then, when everyone figures out the fastest car, I might drive that as well. Probably not, because that's a LOT of time, but I think 245GLT, SRT-4, and Nardo will be it for me. I think, 👍.

And, I would like your settings for the SRT-4, Rob. I came into the WRS on weeks 6, so I don't really know what you guys figured out about the car that week. Thanks!

Funny thing too, Pat's time in the Volvo was .4 behind mine at the line! We had no idea we were so close, after about the same amount of seat time too. But, he says he's still learning the track... :scared:

New Volvo splits for me...
T1: oops, forgot to mark that one down...
T2: 1'28.365
T3: 2'07.065
T4: 2'38.835
T5: 3'19.498
T6: 4'00.092
T7: Almost TWO FULL seconds faster! And I took the last chicane slowly too! w00t!

Pat sat down for a bit, but gave up after he turned in too late for that high speed left turn around T6 somewhere, where if you turn in too late by a hair, you go WIDE and off the track, into the wall... He was up 1.5 on his ghost that lap, but his fingers had had it, and that crash REALLY pissed him off...

Now, some legal issues... Thankfully Jerome doesn't have to deal with them, lol(how's that going anyway?).

Is this clean? Or dirty? Are we going to use the white lines as what determines two wheels off when dealing with the red sections of track?(this example is right after T1)

How about this? This I'm assuming is clean, the dirty section on the left at the end of the Mulsanne(sp?) Straight before the sharp right...

And this one's just for fun. Under hard braking from top speed, and the brakes are BARELY glowing behind those awesome center-lock wheels... Where's my 500hp!?! How many times do I have to ask for it before it'll come true...:grumpy: 💡 :sly: :) Also check out the nose dive action, I think I'll stiffen it up just a tad for my next stint...

Looks like I'll have to bump up that EV setting even more next time I take pictures. They're always so much darker on the computer than they are on the PS2 for me...

Driving the Super Special Car of Doom
T1 - 28.029
T2 - 59.572
T3 - 1'25.024
T4 - 1'46.169
T5 - 2'12.553
T6 - 2'40.523

I don't know what's more exhausting, driving at 240mph or writing down all these T-Times...

EDIT: I was wondering about the legality of those parts KLR mentioned too. Also down Mulsanne when you go over to the edge near the wall, you get all the dirt flying up, so is it counted as dirt? What about the tarmac on the outside and inside of the rumble strips on Mulsanne corner? Personally, I'd like the red parts allowed too. Can we cast a vote?

EDIT2: Holy ****, Just checked and that puts me at the top of the leaderboard! First time for everything I guess...

i tried the Toyota TS020 (GT-One) last night, and the splits i remember are

T2 - 1´00´6xx :yuck:
T6 - 2´41´4xx

lots of mistakes on the lap, still learning the track... i think with a good car guys will be getting 2´35 or so at T6... or maybe less...

i´m glad its a 2 week event, it will take a while until i set in a car and start driving competitive laps:)

All pics posted by Kyle seem legal for me since there's not a single rumble strip in these areas.

GT-Mode vs Weary: Round 2

I am such a noob with settings, all I did was add a Stage 2 NA tune, custom gears, Sports Softs and I was off. I'm not going to muck with settings too much this week for any car I drive, I like being able to drive practically any car, not sure what'll be next

I tried the Shelby Cobra 2 days ago, but I have trouble to reach T1 cleanly, so I gave up pretty soon. Replays look really good however.

I'm not even close to getting a lap if I try with weight reduction and the full power upgrade...just a couple of mods and she's kinda tame-able...my lap is far from beautiful but it's clean and neat for the most part. Not sure what I'll try next, I'm liking the older cars, I might go the Buick Special next...

try that audi streamline... might be fun... also that mercedes SL300 ´54 is a great...

i wish there was a opel ascona in the game, it would be the only old car i can think right now that i would race... kind like the volvo thing going on...

Can't the Audi only run on Nurb and Test Track? I wouldn't like taking it around those last chicanes either, it has the turning circle of an oil tanker.

not so sure, i thought this audi, like the catherham, the nike and others could be driven... i drove this car once, just don´t remember if it was the nurb or not...

Absolutely loved the MGF '97 last night, putting all assists off and leavin the medium sports tyres made it a fun, challenging ride, very slippy, but i'll be going for faster times soon!!

The Audi Streamline is not available in Arcade Mode, and the Caterham and Nike are not allowed in GT Mode races because they feature too many polygons and can't be rendered properly with other cars on the track.
But I think they are all 3 available in GT Mode / Free run.

So, if there is not a rumble strip on a given part of the track, driving on the dusty areas or the red tarmac is considered legal?

Am I understanding this right?

To your first edit, yeah that's legal, but it's slow, so you don't want to do that... :sly: And, I think there are faster times, the leaderboard just hasn't been updated for two days.

Are you soooper sure? I would say that that my two inside tires are inside of the red stuff, but they're outside of the line, and it's going to be pretty hard to tell if a car is two wheels inside the red stuff if you get farther out there... Don't want to make it the line that's legal? If so, that's cool by me, but I was just thinking it's going to be pretty hard to determine legality, maybe. Or, is it just the red area behind rumbles that are deemed illegal?

MisterWeary, how come you didn't take the Cobra out on RSS tires? That might help you manage your way around the track, wouldn't it? :)

I had the same trouble with the Speed 12. :(

I don't see any red tarmac on any of your Volvo pics, and all 3 look legal to me.
I mention in the rules "red tarmac and dust covered part behind the rumble strips" because I consider that rumble strips mark the border of the track. There's no point in having a rumble strip in the middle of the track with some cars passing on the left and others on the right. :dunce:
Yet, when there are no rumble strips, then the track borders are shown by walls/sand/grass or whatever is not tarmac.

If I remember well that rumble strip rule mainly concerns a few spots on the track :
  • the 2 chicanes at the end of the lap, immediately before the start/finish line
  • the double right-hander after T1
  • the 2 chicanes in the Hunaudières straight
Other portions of the track don't have much tarmac behind rumble strips.

Hey Cyril,

So what you are saying is......

The red/dusty bits behind the rumbles in the sections highlighted are out of bounds?

I have also circled the 1st chicane also, should that be included in the tabboo list ( there is lots of tarmac on the insides of both apex's )

Neil
