are there going to be two parallel competitions run? One for submission a and one for submission b?
I hope it doesn't look like 2 parallel weeks, and I'm glad to see several different approaches in the very first posts. Some racers test a full combo first (Elise forward + Silvia reverse), others a single car (Elise forward + Elise reverse), or a single track (Elise forward + Silvia forward)...
There will be multiple comparisons possible all week long but in the end only the smallest aggregate time will matter when it comes to submit.

I think I'll put my effort on the Elise @ forward race, because I see a 12.5 / 28.5 possible. I don't know the reverse track much and I'm crap at tuning so the Silvia will probably remain a brick to drive all week long.

I've just done my Silvia exactly how you said. And it has 320hp....

flat-out
Did you purchase it at 10km ?
Mine has 26000+ km

It's a 0km from the Ubersave. It comes to 1hp less then the limit, without the oil change.

So I assume the 6.2mile/10km ones would end up the same too. I suppose they're banned now? How often does the Silvia come up, I really don't want to be buying wheels for hours.

EDIT: Happened to find one first go. So it's obviously not that rare, or I'm just lucky. Unfortunately it's an awful cream coloured one :yuk:

S15 Reverse:
10.083 (saw 9.xxx's but it caused me to screw up my line)
27.008

I just checked in Famine's used car cycle list and the good news are that the Silvia Spec R Aero appears 38 times in the 100 weeks cycle.
Strange thing is that according to this list, the car never appears at 10.0km, so it would be specific to the übersave, and yes, banned indeed.
Anyone else uses it ?

I've been AWOL since week 40, but I'm gonna try working my way back up the leaderboard in Div.2. Hope I'm not too rusty!!!

Mine had over 25000 miles on it.

Welcome back mate.
Perhaps not the best week to come back. Or perhaps it is the best week to come back, because if you're rusty you won't be anymore next tuesday :D

Now for my Times in the Silvia

Silvia
Forward
T1 - 13.049
T2 - 29.686

Reverse
T1 - 10.148
T2 - 26.420

So Together with my Elise times.

Elise
Forward
T1 - 13.126
T2 - 29.487

Reverse
T1 - 9.638
T2 - 25.670

So adding up the T2 times gives...

Silvia Forward/Elise Reverse: 55.356
Elise Forward/Silvia Reverse: 55.907

So at the moment, running the Silvia forward, and the Elise Reverse, is the fastest for me.

EDIT: Forgot to add. The Silvia did need some suspension tuning, it handles like a tank. I'll post my settings if anyone wants them 👍

Casio, would you mind posting your settings here? I may want them. Thank you in advance. ;)

This seems like a good combo here, but I have a question: How are the rankings going to be determined? Total time for the two laps submitted (as I would assume)?

That's it, the lowest total for the two laps is the winner.

I just watched my replay for the Lotus, and it says 205HP. This is after I set it up according to the specs.. What am I missing? The tune settings says it is 219 but the replay says 205. Is this the HP after mileage degradation thing??

Lotus forward (after 5 laps):
13.367
30.772

Lotus reverse (after 5 laps)
9.976
27.001

Final time wasn't too much different between the two...

EDIT: I don't have the SPEC R in the lot. I have the SPEC S though. Any ideas how I can get it??

it has to be the elise... the sylvia for me was just too slow...

elise foward (or sideways I)

12´945
28´853

elise reverse (or sideways II)

9´771
25´604

the sylvia couldn´t come close to that... still didn´t touch the suspension... a very fun combo... i just wish we has a bit more grip on the tires... S3 maybe

C'mon Francisco, RTFM! You gotta give up and drive one way or the other with the "ugly sister". You just have to decide whether you take her to Prom or Homecoming! Just as long as you get lucky, though it does take some getting used to in "reverse"... heh..

So this is how it's going to work?

We add the two lap times together and that makes our final time?

Cool, seems like a very interesting idea 👍

I might give this a try tonight, we'll see...

What you do is this:

- Run the forward version of the track with the Elise
- Run the forward version of the track with the Silvia
- Run the reverse version of the track with the Elise
- Run the reverse version of the track with the Silvia
- Decide which combination gives you the fastest overall time
- If you choose Silvia+Forward, then it has to be Elise+Reverse, or vice-versa
- Spend the rest of the week improving your time(s) for the combination you chose
- Submit both times

All that ^ :D ;)

Not necessarily in that order...

The Wizard.

lets just say that my hands have a much better feel for elise...:dopey: sylvia is just cramky and does not want to do what i want...

so i´m sticking with little elise... and hoping that i can score with her:tup:

Well, you'll still need to drive the Silvia... Whatever direction you like better with the Elise, you have to go the other direction in the Silvia...

Well, I'm definitely driving the Elise in the Reverse direction -- MUCH more fun...

So, here are my times so far... Having much more fun in the Elise/Reverse, so I've spent more time there...

Elise/Reverse
T1: 9.923
T2: 26.203

Sylvia/Forward
T1: 13.513
T2: 30.533

Elise is LOTS more fun, and the reverse-direction on this track just seems to be MADE for her...

The Sylvia is just not good for me. Does anyone know how to make the Sylvia handle at all? I must've tried 10 different combinations already... Nothing works real well...

Just keep going back there after each time you drive the Elise for awhile... The cars on the lot will change every "week" in the game... The Sylvia Spec R will eventually appear...

I got lucky, and one was available the very first time I tried... It'll come around for you eventually...

That's correct -- the replay-startup-page always shows the HP that it would have after the engine has been "worn in" by mileage... Your tune-page is showing 219 -- so you have the correct HP for this race for that car...

My Nissan shows 304 on the tune-page, and 300 on the replay-startup-page. Much closer together, since the Nissan is used (26,000 miles or so.) I was expecting the two to be equal, but I guess there isn't quite enough mileage on there to make it so...

I have a question -- under "Race Rules" at the top of this thread, one of the conditions is No Hybrids... What's a hybrid, in this context?

Thanks for the help, dude. I think the hybrid refers to GT3 when you could build cars out of different manufactures parts bins. As far as I know you don't have that option in GT4 (someone correct this if it's wrong)

One more question. With regards to tuning the suspension, specifically the toe-in/toe-out setting. It doesn't say which is in or out, it only has positive and negative...

I've always assumed a positive number is toe-in, but I've never been able to verify that 100%. Can anyone tell me for certain which way is which?

Thanks...

What you said jake73, any car that is changed via your computer. In GT3 you could put formula tires on a mini cooper etc.. hence the Diablo in GT3 it was a 'hybrid' car made by transferring cars from your memory card to your cpu using some tricky program. I dont believe there is the program for GT4 yet, that I know of atleast. But it is kinda fun until you realize that even with a formula engine in a cooper Dan and Curtis are still faster than you...heheh :sly:

Working on my Elise Ring Forward, got some 28.6 times but I keep screwing the pooch at the final turn. O well....

Not Happy Yet By Any Means....but my brake pedal is randomly being pressed and is driving me NUTS!!!
Elise Ring Forward:
T1 - :12.881
T2 - :28.758

Settings: Pretty generic as I don't really know what I'm doing, so little change is good for me. I would love to hear recommendations to my settings all in the spirit of learning here...*cough-DAN!-cough*
Suspension: 7.5/8.5
Ride Height: 110/115 (may lower this to 100 or so later, still tweaking)
Bound: 7/8
Rebound: 7/8
Camber Angle: 2.3/1.5
Toe Angle:0/1 (may tweak this back to normal, I saw little difference)
Stabilizers: 4/5
Transimission: Auto 8
Limited Slip: 5/5/5 (uninstalled and made little difference IMO)
Brakes: 5/5
Driving Aids: 0/0/0

I'm using the theory of:
Slower car in the direction I am used to going and the faster car in the harder direction to achieve hopefully similar times....no guarantees eh?

Looks like it's "Americans Online" here tonight. Where are the speedy Aussies's?...:sly:

Since I didn't get in on it last week........post#60, and I like fast girls named Elise and Silvia at the same time.

Just pulled 'em out of the garage, turned off aids, and burned about 10 laps each way.
