i wonder if the following has ever come up, but since this is such a bumpy ride it might come in handy to know the outcome.

in wrs rules you cannot touch the grass by more than two wheels, but what if you touch the air above the grass by four wheels?

this situation has occurred to me a few times now in the duoring wrs. you cut a rumble strip corner, take off into the air, fly above the grass and land with two wheels on the rumble strip or tarmac.

your weary directions please flatout :sly:

You have to have 2 wheels on or above the track. So the scenario where you jump over the grass is NOT legal. :)

And btw. All 4 wheels are actually allowed to touch the grass, as long as at least 2 of the wheels also touch the track.

ferrari_chris
I've also thought of this scenario, and had the same thing happen to me at this track.

I've considered it dirty, as all four wheels are outside the line of the track. :indiff:

👍 You're right Chris. Such runs are dirty.

Oi Flat-out, what's with the capital letter. Don't think I don't notice these things. I liked it much better the way before.
Yeah, I asked admins to have a capital 'F' (you need to be a Premium member or a mod to do that, before anyone asks). I got 2 reactions already : you who said you prefered before with the lowercase, and someone else who thought the 'O' should be capital too :D

Concerning the jumps, what matters in that case is not what the tyres is in contact with, because obviously it's only in contact with air, but the projection of the tyre on the track (like the shadow if the sun was exactly above the car). So ferrari_chris was right. Thanks Niels.

GT Pro
Just been running heaps of laps with the Elise and Silvia::crazy:

Best Splits I can seem to get at the minute are::indiff:

Elise:Forward-
T1-0'13.517
T2-0'30.625

Silvia:Reverse-
T1-0'10.128
T2-0'26.653

But I'm still oh-so-close trying to shave off my time and pull off a 9 sec pass on T1 at Autumn Ring Mini Reverse:ouch:

Hehe, well back in the feild;) just as i suspected

Hi to everyone in the WRS,

Im having a go at this one with :

Elise Reverse

Silvia Forward

So far got a 25.8xx with the Elise reverse using sports suspension, and racing gearbox auto set to 3, No aids.

So far a 29.795 with the silvia forward....again sports suspension, racing box auto set to 2, no aids...

Interestingly in both cars ASM made me slower, im using sports suspension to keep it simple and setting both up with a slight oversteer stance as this track is understeer city!

regards

David

Some troubling things are happening with my GT4 game as of late. First is my brake is randomly coming on...can we say...GODDAMMIT!!! Second is I did a run in the Silvia reverse yesterday and got a time of xxx, saved the replay, but when I SAW the replay it was actually a lap that was .4 SLOWER!!!! But, when I look at the list of replays in the replay theatre, the CORRECT time is there, so it says one time but is really another! WTF!!!!! ARGH!!! Thirdly, my normal GT4 game save on my memory card went corrupt on its own, no ARMax involved my chip is even off too...What The Hell?!!? Anyone else have any of these problems, or is this just bad karma because I have so many PS2 games?

Jerome

Hey Jerome,

Sorry to hear your troubles. I don't know about the corrupt card deal, but by chance had you loaded a saved ghost to chase or done the analyzer of a lap? That sometimes causes me trouble with replays not saving correctly.

The brake coming on at random is a common complaint with the DFP. There is a lot of information on how to fix it. I think there is a sub-forum somewhere here on GTP?
But anyway, normally the problem is in the wire routing inside the foot pedal housing. It is routed so tight that it pulls on the potentiometers inside and causes position errors. You just need to loosen up the wires and tape them in place on the inside of the housing. Also, make sure that the first time you fire up the DFP for a session, and go out on track, you do a full brake/letoff. Not a partial brake! This teaches it what the full range is from what I have heard, will be more stable. One other thing is if you crash and exit out with the red brake bar on, it may act weird afterward. For any random brake coming one, try unplugging the footpedals at the wheel, and plugging back in. This resets them, and sometimes works pretty well.
Hope this helps. :)

I had to do the fix on the pedal assembly as well. Works fine now.(use duct tape)

I had a time in the last race where I lost the ghost, but it was listed in the standings board. It was .5 better than the time that got saved. I am sure there is some glitch there. Very frustrating...

I took the Elise and did 10 laps Forward and 10 Reverse. It's a nice start but I realized that I can shave off another 0.5 sec.

FWD
T1 : 13.293
T2 : 29.946 (saw 29.6)

RVS
T1 : 9.998 (saw 9.7)
T2 : 26.832 (my Achilles tendon here, I can really do better between T1 and T2)

A question here: Can we buy improved suspensions and a new transmission (customizable for example) and things like this for the two cars?

According to the rules, you can add anything that doesn't add HP. Like racing brakes, tranny, suspension.

Yeah i've always had a similar problem with my brake pedal, so i decided to totally dismantle every component of the pedal apparatus, including the 2 little circuitry cylinders, and it turns out that that was what was causing the problem. when i took the brake cylinder apart, i noticed some of the little needles were looking a little out of position compared to the gas (the little needles i referred to are what comes in contact with the circuit board, theres about 7 ot 8 of them that revolve inside the casing as the brake is depressed or released, i repositioned them, everything back together, oiled everything, and it works as good as new:tup:

I can't seem to put together 2 good split times. If one gets better the other suffers. Back and forth... But overall progress is being made. I guess I am getting better at the last 2 corners...

Elise Forward:

29.816

you had nothing to loose, if i recall correctly you wanted to smash it into a million bits

Only take your DFP apart like that if its the last resort and you are confident you can put it back together!!!

Ive personally fixed my pedals about 3 times now, each time making sure they are position properly, oiled and also making sure their are no loose wires joined on to that cylinder thingo.

They are good for now...

Awesome tips guys, I'm guessing I can do a lil' search on how to dismantle my pedals Safely? I'll keep an eye out for doing a full brake at the beginning of the session too, thx again, I just thought only the gas pedal had prob's....Whoops!...looks like these pedals have more troubles than a Western Digital Hard Drive, eh? heheh....

On a side note.....

I WILL HAVE MY REVENGE DION!! YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE LAST OF ME!! MUHAHAHA!!!!!

Bought sports brakes and suspension for the Elise, and turned off the ASM:

Forward

T1 - 13.320
T2 - 29.734

Reverse

T1 - 9.925
T2 - 26.292

Im getting there! But still haven't found a Silvia in the showroom yet....:grumpy:

Hey, Guys and Gals.

Looks like I picked a good week to start racing properly again, couldn't get my head into race mode over the last couple of weeks and didn't really have the time to give either.

But the allure of the Elise dragged me back!

Mainly been running the Silvia on reverse, as out of the two cars it's not my Fav. So wanted to get some time in getting a workable setup in it, and get some laps in before switching the the Elise.

Got this so far.

Silvia, (ARM Reverse)
SR 6.5/7.5
RH 125/135
Db 2/3
Dr 4/4
CA 1.8/1.4
TA 0/0
St 3/3
Gears 5
LSD 25/60/30
Aids(O/U/TCS) 0/1/0
Brakes 3/3

T1 9.951
T2 26.298
Laps 40ish

Couldn't resist a couple a laps in the Elise tho, just to make sure I was infront of crayon wealding toddlers.

Elise (ARM Forward)
SR 6.1/7.6
RH 130/140
Db 2/2
Dr 3/3
CA 1.5/0.8
TA 0/0
St 2/2
Gears 3
LSD Std
Brakes Std
DA (O/U/TCS) 0/0/0

T1 13.105
T2 29.723
Laps 5

Pretty pleased so far!

Neil

Yeah, thanks! 👍 👍
Always have loved MR cars, even the GT40.

The name of the Elise gives you a clue how to drive it.

Treat it like a gorgeous, horney woman,

Ride her hard, and make her squeel!!!!!

LOL

Neil

Ps If that offends anyone, instead of making them laugh. Tell me and I'll edit it.

Neil

I keep making progress, however, in small increments

Elise Forward:
13.255
29.816

Silvia Reverse:
9.903
25.931

Finally got into the 9's for the T1 Silvia...

I can't tune so both cars are driven with close to stock settings.

The Elise is a nice car and a real pleasure to drive. 👍 The Silvia is a pig. :irked: Tried out hollo's settings for the Silvia, but they didn't do me any good.

Elise Normal:

12.931
28.926

Silvia reverse:

9.905
26.122

new splits for me. it looks like everybody including me is doing elise reverse and fake sx200/skyline the other way.

elise reverse: 10.380 and 26.678
sylvia normal: 13.862 and 31.464

laptimes are almost a second apart in favor, of course, of the lotus.

this is another .5 off me previous presubmission. and altho i don't know ho1101 and the other guys i already HATE :) them. how the fcuk can they do these laps a full 5 seconds faster. this has got to change otherwise i'll dump the ps2 in the ocean.
upside is that if no more d3 guys will submit i'll come out third AND i'll be faster than cyril and 'chris'.

Try running the Sylvia forward... Holl01's settings really improved my time quite a bit (haven't posted any in a couple of days, but they improved it by at least .250 sec's on the very first try... I need to do another 40 or 50 laps to get some postable times...)

But I'm running the Sylvia forward with Holl01's settings -- the Sylvia reverse is much worse (in my opinion...) Reverse is where the Elise just shines! You can just drift around that double-left, and it's really a lot of fun!

The Elise shines both way around. :D And I also chose after where I thought the Silvia sucked less. ;)

Cyril. Is it legal to cross the white line at the entrance to pit area? (In this case it's the end of the reverse track)

It is legal.
As long as you have 2 wheels back on track when you reach the grass area.

Cool. I'm back on track way before the grass comes up. The reason I'm out there in the first place, is a little wheel spin and drift out of the hairpin. :D

So to the next issue. I beat my previous ghost, but for some reason the ghost wasn't updated. And when I went to "save ghost replay", my new best time didn't show up. It did show up though, when I saved it in "save replay".

I was fearing the same problems as jump ace described earlier in the thread. So I saved, restarted the PS and went to replay theater. Lap do show up with the correct time, both in the overview and in the lap it self. But the save is one of the "(white) replay saves" and NOT the usual "(red) ghost save".

I guess it's just as good as verification (don't sweat. It IS on lap 1 ;) ), but I just wanna make sure. So.. is it OK?

Sure.
Someone already posted (week 35) a replay where the submitted lap was lap #13.
That's no reason to be DQ'ed as long as the lap is clean and matches the submitted time. Not the best way to make friends with the guy who checks the replay, but legal ;)

More new splits. Think i've had just about enough of Silvia for this week. I seem to have reached my limit with her. I know i can get more out of Elise though.

111R Normal - Auto - DFP - Div2
T1 - 13.038
T2 - 29.207

S15 Reverse - Auto - DFP - "
T1 - 09.855
T2 - 26.097

. make sure you cars use the correct parts and that each car matches the required power/weight.
  • Elise 111R '04: 219hp / 782kg
  • Silvia Spec S Aero '99 : 304hp / 1,091kg

So is it the Spec S or Spec R?
