about the replays... lets really think what a normal person would say:

"oh, the lap is not valid... sorry son, what´s your second best time then?"

c´mon, this is a bit too much. i really respect the rules but i will not lose my sleep or something like that because a driver had 3 wheels on dirt... that does not make him slower, dirtier, a bad person or something like it... i really don´t care...

ask anybody outside of the videogame world what they would think of this... they would probably say to you that this is "nerd talk". and it really is, i don´t see whatelse can be...

everybody wants to play by the rules, we want to see clean laps, we want to be fair. if you want that, like small fryz and many others want, that´s right. that´s what i want also. but if you´re nuts about this, and if you think the person should be banned, shot or whatever because of a misjudgment, then you really need to get a life. (IMO). i think this is just the second time here at gtplanet that i post an angry replay, but sometimes things just makes me mad...

we know each other quite well here, and the best thing about this comunity, is that we have a friendly enviroment... no strange to me, those cheap shots came from drivers that are not regularly here... too bad this kind of talk is happening, but in the end, the rage goes on... and so is the friendship...

and while we are still in this topic, i´m still waiting to submit because i asked a friend to verify my lap... because of a possible 5 cm off. well i didn´t spot anything in photo mode, so i´m waiting to see what my buddy thinks...

IF ANYONE CAN ALSO VERIFY MY LAP (NTSC) BEFORE THE DEADLINE, PLEASE PM ME WITH YOUR E-MAIL:tup: 👍 👍
i trully apreciate that.

I see no point in replying to all your comments because I expect you will only edit them just like the others have.

However, let me ask you this about those who don't drive here regularly; Do you know the real beauty of the WRS? I believe, as do many others, although I expect most have left, that it has to do with the whole original concept of the WRS, which is the ability of its casual participation.

I edited because I don't want to fuss and feud...now come over here and give me a hug you big lug :sly:

Let's get back to racing............how's that Lancia this week...is she a tough beast to control or what?!?

yes, casual participation is good, that´s why we have 426 drivers now...

the point was to say... casual drivers might not know the others as well as the ones that are here everyweek...

and because of the "trust level" gained by those drivers that are here all the time, and also because of the developed friendship, some of us take the DQ thing a bit more "lightly"...

but that does not mean we will start cheating...

to me, a person that posts a replay, and knows that it will be checked, really isn´t trying to fool anyone... they would not post a replay if that was the case... i don´t see how a user would submit something knowing that its dirty...

Your not getting the point. show me anywhere in this thread that I have posted the words cheat, cheater or cheating? My agument is about stupid mistakes being made because of the lack of care taken before submission. You guys brush it off as if it doesn't happen. Take this weeks issue for example, nothing said whatsoever, not even by the driver concerned until he was called out and forced to comment on his mistake.

I've seen the mention of trust a number of times now, and I'm still trying to work out why it is that you even have obligated replay submissions if you guys trust each other so much. It seems a pointless exersise to me with all this trust flying around.

edited upon request, so go and have a beer chumps... (and my judgement of the narrow minded camel jockey has been diminished somehwat extensively since this debate started)

am enjoying a couple of brews as we speak... :sly:

As if I really care what you or anyone else thinks.

That's it, edit everything as if it never was written

For ****s sake give it a rest.

The guy comes in, makes one mistake, and now we've spent the last 20 hours discussing it? ****!

Yes, he shouldn't have submitted a dirty lap.
Yes, he should have at least taken the 60 seconds to check his replay.

But the fact is, he didn't. Get over it.

And this post will not be edited.

sphinx, go away dude, every single word u have spoken here in this thread has been utter nonsense, u have made no valid points at all, u r dead last.

BTW fasj6418,
I don't suppose you still have your GT2 replays archived? I would love to see them.

At least you can still read them.

still have most of them on VCR... didn´t had a max drive them... at the time there was nothing i could do to send replays... its more than 4 hours of replays, mostly with escudo times

champ, i removed the text out of courtesy to Flat-Out and this thread, this topic should be discussed in the WRS Pit Stop thread, so leave it alone

and i choose not to argue with stupid people, because they drag you down to their level and beat you with experience

Sphinx's points are not stupid and they are completely relevant.

While i may not agree with how he presented them I do agree with most of what he has said.

People have got to stop with the personal attacks, i dont see Sphinx posting them. All i see is people attacking Sphinx and his opinion as well as throwing put downs at him, that translate to a "lower" level than what sphinx is "supposedly" on.

If you dont agree with our opinion thats totally fine, but dont go putting us down and making snide personal remarks when our opinions are perfectly valid.

This is not how the WRS should be 👎

I admire your attempt to put me down, but to use personal insults is bad form. 👎

i never had a problem with what he said, i have a problem with the fact that this issue has dragged on for so long, points have been made, people can think what they want but at the end of the day stop this arguing in THIS bloody thread and get on with the racing!!!

no sarcasm is bad form 👍 :P what i did was admit the truth and the complete folly of this argument which you have dragged down by not leaving it alone, and the truth is never bad form...

Actually you "belive" sphinx is a stupid person, that doesnt mean it is the truth.

Where is your proof he is stupid?

So then how is it the truth?

lol, I'm only replying to posts about the subject at hand. If you want this to stop, then stop posting.

he is stupid because he didn't realise when enough was enough, and to let the topic be, he wasn't alone in the matter, but he is at the head of it at the moment...

the TRUTH of the matter is that this issue has gone on long enough in this thread and that it should be left alone

does that answer your questions?

Your too late Ron :dopey:

Go back to sleep, I'll let you know when the next argument arises on GTP and you can come a bit sooner :dopey: 👍

Geez... I'm away for a couple of days and all hell breaks loose... Now I'm scared to death to submit any replays!

I always watch my replays 3 times -- once from the rear of the car, once from the front, and once from the various "random" camera-angles that the replay defaults to -- before submitting my times... If I have any questions about a particular spot, I always hit "select" to go to photo mode, and then pan and zoom to get a better view... But still, that's not perfect -- I could very easily miss something... It's hard to pop the "select" button at EXACTLY the right spot...

And yes, I know, "If in doubt, don't submit..." But often times, I've put in MANY laps (dozens? hundreds? more?) just to get a clean one that beats my old time... If it's close, but I can't prove that it's dirty even after several attempts to do so, then I'm going to submit it... If someone else later proves that it IS dirty, then I'll take the DQ... (But I want photo evidence proving its "dirtyness" of course.) But I think that we should all give everyone the benefit of the doubt -- no one in their right mind is going to KNOWINGLY submit a dirty lap! They know that EVERYONE is going to review it! Flaming someone who submits a dirty lap is not productive -- all it does is drive away folks who made an honest mistake... They were not ignoring the rules, they honestly thought they were following the rules -- otherwise, why submit a replay that would prove they were breaking the rules? Makes no sense... Completely ignoring the rules IS a big deal -- but someone submitting a dirty lap is not necessarily someone who deliberately ignored the rules. It's not the easiest thing in the world to prove a lap is dirty, unless you take a LONG time reviewing it. And I don't know about y'all, but I didn't join the WRS to spend hours reviewing replays -- I joined to RACE!

So DQ folks who submit dirty laps, and be done with it... They get no points for that week, they get a nasty red-flag next to their name, and hopefully will LEARN from their experience... No flaming necessary... If it happens again, DQ them again... Not the end of the world... Eventually they'll either give up and go away voluntarily, or they'll LEARN that they have to be EXTRA CAREFUL to obey the rules and verify that their laps are clean...

"Trust, but verify..." That's why we submit lap replays. We all have to trust that everyone is obeying the rules. But we still verify with lap replays... It's the only way to do it...

Well, I've said my $0.02 for today... On to the next race!

Since I sort of started all this, I think I better have to say something too. Sorry I'm a little late, but sleeping and working is also a part of my life.

First it seems like this has developed into some rather nasty personal attacks and name calling. Seems like the issue have been very painful for some to talk about and that makes it evident for me that something is rotten and this issue need to be dealt with. One way or the other.

Overall it seems important for everybody that we follow the rules. 👍 But apart from that it seems to me, that we have split into two groups.

One group, who think it's the racers obligation to check their own replay, and do that properly.
And one group, who think it the race administration obligation to check the replays. (or it's no big deal to get them checked at all. I'm actually a little in doubt on that).

If I have to trust the people, who think that checking replays properly is no big deal, those people have to submit replays every week. That's no problem for a racers like hollo and Mister Weary, who actually do that. 👍
BUT if a racer at the same time DON'T submit his replay, AND think it's no big deal, whether it's clean or not. How can I trust his time is correct and within the rules, if he doesn't even know that himself?

And the last thing I wanna say once more, is that I still find it very disrespectful NOT to check your own replay properly. Disrespectful because others have to do, what you could do easier. Disrespectful because it shows you think your time is more valuable, that the time of the replay checkers. 👎

I doesn't look like we gonna find a solution on the issue right now, so I'll back off for now. But I really think we need to come together in some kind of agreement or understanding, if the WRS is gonna survive as a reliable institution in the OLR community. :)

Time submitted:

Elise Forward:

12.788
28.571

Silvia Reverse:

9.901
25.855

Small improvement in the Elise. Nothing in the Silvia.

Okay, first and last splits for me this week:

Silvia FWD:
T1 12.860
T2 29.162

Elise REV:
T1 9.639
T2 25.089

BUT!!!

On my Elise lap I came as close as you can without going dirty (hopefully) with the third tire. I'll attach pictures below and if there are any NTSC guys that can watch a replay for me I'd appreciate it.

Basically, I think it's clean. I've checked at least 6 or 7 times catching the moment and another 20 time just missing early or late and I haven't found a conclusive dirty photo. It looks like the edge of the tread JUST overlaps the root of the ramp of the curb's inside edge at the furthest from the road. To make matters more fuzzy, I'm about 6 inches in the air so there's no contact to help determine. Looks like a "textbook" tangential pass...

Oh well.

I'll submit it if I don't hear back by 12:00 PST (three hours from now) and let the chips fall where they may. I don't have a good backup lap since this was a magic monkey midnight lap and I STILL needed to put some time into the Silvia lap.

Didn't spend enough time on this one for sure...
