I just looked at the leaderboard -- am I really the ONLY Div-3 driver to submit split-times this week? Does that mean I win a gold-medal by default if no other Div-3 drivers choose to participate. đź‘Ť Who'd have thought I could ever win gold. ;)

ARghhhhhhhhh. I know I'm too tired to be playing, but I have been. And came up with nothing. I was just on my fastest lap ever, and was a little too inside on the turn RIIIIGHT before the back straight, and went wide on exit. How pissed was I. I was fighting the sleep in my eyes that lap, doing GREAT, and then stuffed it up. That was the second one tonight I stuffed up there... Grrr. Oh well. Tomorrow's a new day, and hopefully I'll get a faster clean lap before I start messing up over and over again before I even reach T1... :)

shockwaveracing
nope you don't have to beat them... and what car were you racing against on +10 i have had 2 NSX's, an STi, r34 gtr etc and i can't catch them...

so i have been using AI -10...

Um evo's gtr's, nismo 350z a big merc which was slow anyway and mitsu gto's/3000gt which are also slow.

I can keep up for a fair bit until until just a bit after the first of the banked corners(one with concrete rough stuff)
I get into about the same times for 3rd sector as hollo and lose a bit in the 6th. After that he is just extremely fast.

O well just will have to wait and see if i can get a clean lap though. I have a slow clean on which would be ranked 3rd but i don't want to post that time.

OK, a small problem on this end that I'm hoping is no biggy.

I've just completed a lap which I think may be worthy of submission, but aftre earlier completing another arcade race which was 9 laps long, I forgot to reset the race to 1 lap... :dunce:

So, my quick lap is on the first lap (and that's only lap I do, exiting shortly after I cross the line), but it's the first lap of a 9 lap race rather than a single lap race. I can't see this being too much of a problem as I know in the past people have submitted full-replays instead of ghosts, where their 'hot' lap is on lap 2 or 3 or whatever, so I can't see this being much of an issue but I think it's best to check. :)

Can I submit this lap, or do I have to run again?

Yes. I agree. Like you say, there have been times where people have submited hotlap runs where the fastest laps have been the 3rd, 13th, 60th, whatever in a run, and just saved the replay.

The only problem I see is if there is any close contact with AI/Walls, and you can not use the replay analyser.

EDIT: On a personal note, the total number of laps I've completed this week on this combo amount to just below 1. I can't find I car I like, all the ones I want to use have under 1800cc, it's not fair!

Well,
I think I have a race to turn in. đź‘Ť
Clean and not-so-fast, it is still something to put in for the competition's sake.

6'48.6 T9 :indiff:
If I were to run without the AI it would probably be about the same.

With the AI in front I manage to gain time and MPH but at the same time there are several spots where I have to either go half-throttle or no-throttle just to avoid contact. :ouch: :banghead:

The thing about the AI is this... Without the AI up front I can run a lap how I would like to- full throttle and on the edge.
However, with the AI up front I managed to take about 6 seconds off my overall race time. :dopey:

So basically, this was more about having some fun and learning about the AI more than running against the rest of the field (WRS'ers).

I'm hoping that the Ring will come back to the WRS soon and in a fashion that will allow me to run to my full potential.
Unfortunately, I have a feeling this is going to be a rare event (the Ring in general).

So, back to my FF N2 ring racing. :sly:
Maybe next time I will have the chance to really cut-loose.
Until then,
-Kent

PS. I'm really swallowing my pride by submitting this week. :ouch:
The lap and race are only about 80% of what I've got for the Ring and one of these days I would like to get another chance to put down as much as I can (like the DB9 where I pretty much maxed out). :dopey:

Hello!

Its me!

I havent been here for ages, but i am popping in to submit to cyril, and post a split here for you lot to peruse over for a nanosecond.

I wouldnt miss a lap of the nurb for anything, and i managed to get round without a hiccup this morning, chasing the NSX who was wearing sports mediums on +10 till Bergwerk, where he Berggered orf.

This gave me a T time of

T9: 6'42.880

and a total time that could have been quicker, but i ran out of time to compete and i have to submit today, cos i wouldnt be online again till after the deadline i think.

Its been fun, and slightly annoying getting the right combo, and i feel i am letting some of my buddies down competing in this way, but i sleep at nite by choosing an AI car that i cant beat, who gives me a really good race for the first 40% of the course.

I hope to see you all in the results thread.

Good luck to all of you!

VEXD out.

Well my final run of this week resulted in an attempt to work with the AI and the times below are with the aid of a draft down to Bergwerk. Looking at my times that draft gave me 2.271s down to T6 and then i made another 1s to the finish with no slipstreaming so its a half and half effort. After T6 I was able to keep the AI (R32 GTR N1) in sight but couldnt catch him......ultimatly came 2nd by 4.8s.

T3 = 2'08.954

T6 = 4'30.893

T9 = 6'44.939

-3.1s overall

Watching the replay its easy to see where I could go quicker but time is precious so....

Submitting this time:tup:

regards

Dave

I was pretty sure i'd reached my limit for this week, but persistance payed off and i ran these splits:

DFP
T3 - 2'09.426
T6 - 4'31.275
T9 - 6'44.699

Managed to slipstream till T5 then the AI pulls away.

I don't see much difference between the first lap of the 9-lapper or the first lap of a single-lapper. As long as the time you submit is the time of lap 1, that's fine for me.

Oye! That's fast! Welcome back, for a nanosecond anyway... How come you didn't race the other week when we used your car? I thought for SURE you'd show up!

Anyway, oye, no chance for a podium in D3 for me, you guys are flying! Oh well, I guess you play on the ring all the time, eh Dave? đź‘Ť And smoking time there too Rob.

I'm staying away for the slip streaming, until I get a clean, fast enough race anyway I guess. Then, if I have time I might come back to trying to slipstream, but it's probably going to be too late for me to get used to it and gain speed.

What happened to all the D3 guys? This week would be one of the BEST races that they could do!!! I remember my FIRST week in the WRS, I was D3 as well. It was the Audi ABT TT around the ring... AHHHH!!!!! I had like THREE clean laps. And by the end of the week, I had my t2 down to around D1 times, but I never got a clean lap, and the rest of the lap wasn't anywhere near as fast as D2, let alone D1... Shows how many times I messed up in the beginning and chose to restart the lap! I suggest to go around a few times, even if it's dirty. đź‘Ť And, I did spend like 10 hours on that week or something I think, so maybe that's the case with the rest of D3? I dunno. My problem is I push too hard.

T3 - 2'19.831
T6 - 4'52.904
T9 - 7'20.589

Just one lap running, no time this week for me! \o=

Here some pics of my lap:

***Edited***
I'll post the pics again in the results thread

I have been known to do a lap or two on the Ring yes.....;)

And the more I run there the more I want to also!

@ quati, NO discussion of cars this week, your pics sort of break that rule slightly.....

Dave

I started tonight to seriously run this race, and I must admit that I love it.
I still can't reach T3 cleanly while slipstreaming but I definitely love it. It's a pity it doesn't last ten weeks, because that's what it would take me to learn the track.

Board Updated

Just when I thought I had leapfrogged someone in the leaderboard ol' Dave goes and finds 12 minutes and destroys my lap  I'll have another crack tonight and try and find some time but all you folk in front of me are damn fast!

Finally, better splits, probably what I'll have to go with.

Sec.3 2'09.716
Sec.6 4'34.948
Sec.9 6'51.427

I may be a little sleep deprived, but this is rediculous!!! I'm having T1 and T2 trouble. As in, swinging wide on exits... Pushing supposedly too hard? I don't really think so... This is pissing me off. If only I could keep clean... Argh, argh, argh. Eh? Yeah. Back to it.

Grrrrrrrrr. Was on my fastest lap yet, and then right through/after T9, I bounced off the redline because I hit some dirt with one of the drive wheels and it caused me to hit it before I normally would, speed wise. I had to stay in that gear because it dropped 5 mph or so before it started accelerating again, so I braked early for the next turn. I made it through that turn, but then went wide on the sharper left right afterwards, and drove wide with two wheels in the sand, dropping my speed to 45mph... :ouch: :ouch: :ouch: :ouch: :ouch: đź‘Ž đź‘Ž đź‘Ž đź‘Ž :grumpy:

I think I have a lap that's three seconds faster than my current splits lap, with a 6'48.xxx T9, but my last turn before the straight was CRAP and I gave up at least a second there I think. I've already double checked it, but I want to go through it in photomode before I make up my mind to submit it, considering all the crap that's been going on lately. I still want to beat that time though, and I've FINALLY caught back on in the beginning(edit: nevermind, there's no such thing), after probably 4 hours of play the past couple of days. *sigh* Can't stop now.

Back with splits before bed I hope. Bed should be around now though, so we'll see! :)

Edit: Finally. Not my fastest stuff, but definitely good enough to submit. And no, I'm not going to go and try to be faster by chasing the AI like I said I might. I'm DONE with this combo. I had some splits that would've been more than a second faster at T9, but I sadly got back on the gas a little early/jerkily while rounding the double right and went wide to the left into the sand leading up the hill that leads down to T9. I was sooooooo pissed.

T3: 2'08.703(seen 2'08.4xx)
T6: 4'32.526(seen 4'31.9xx)
T9: 6'48.145(seen 6'47.8xx, could've had a '46, but nooooooo)

Submitting.

I'm looking forward to posting my first post in the results thread... :) I'm not planning on a podium, but it was damn fun, and more. đź‘Ť

Well I've worked something out it would seem, or I got a favourable opponent to slip stream, I found exactly 1.6 seconds:

T3: 2'08.173
T6: 4'30.479
T9: 6'45.738

Happy with this lap, had my best finish yet

Board Updated

This sure is a fun week. I've put in a lot of laps, that's for sure.

No need to worry about the replay issue I had earlier - I've gone faster with a normal (single lap) replay anyway. :)

I think I'm about ready to submit too. đź‘Ť

Time submitted. Looking forward to the results to see what cars people are running đź‘Ť

 one of the "perks" of teaching, I doubt "babsy" even owns Gran Turismo, but on the off chance that you do (Batley or Barber I presume) let's see what you got, see if you can beat my lap :sly:

I hope you don't teach them English or ICT. Otherwise they need to find a better teacher. :D

Funnily the kids at my work have a similar attitude, ameliorated somewhat by the frequent savage GT4 beatings I hand out.

Latest splits:

T3: 2.10.610
T6: 4.35.439
T9: 6.53.787

That may be the lap I submit - I'm totally worn out after that one!
