Oh my goodness! I just had a FIREBALL of a session. VERY balls to the wall if you pardon my usage, Neil. I was just about to come back and post my latest splits, which were .7 overall faster than my current posted splits, but for some reason, I decided to keep going... I felt a streak in me.

Congrats! You shaved a bunch off your previous times! Excellent session...

I HAD been doing about one lap, and then if I mess up the next one's beginning or whatever, just restarting. These next three laps though, I just went at it, kept going...

Whenever I mess up a lap, I just slow down for a bit so that the ghost will pass me -- I let him get well ahead of me. Then I can pick up the pace again, usually without any hope of passing the ghost and accidentally getting a dirty lap as my fastest lap... Doesn't destroy my rhythm as badly as re-starting the whole race does...

Thanks! I normally don't restart all the time, but for some reason, this week I have been. Dunno why really. I think mainly because I don't want to watch through the many laps to find my fastest lap and do a quick watch to see if it's clean. Now it's time for me to spend some time on the JGTC fun stuff... :)

Board Updated

Clemi  Competition for holl01 at the top of PAL-World this week it would seem, welcome and I'd wish you good luck but it appears you don't need it :sly: 👍....and as for everyone else just jumping on in front of me you get one of these :nervous: I can't see much more than about 0.2 ?!? How is the whole world sliding on by.......might go and play hungry hungry hippo for a while................

Almost gave up the fight but sluckly stuck to it, after bout 3 hours

T1; 29.087
T2; 59.469

Dis es FUN:drool:
RS, not RSS tires, and 590hp, right? Just gotta check!!! :) 👍

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:yuck: :yuck: :yuck: :yuck: :yuck:

Seems its all in vain:grumpy: got the hp right but on rss tyres... well so goes it, thx for the heads-up.

Back to the track then...

Don't worry man, it won't take you long to get decent times on RS if you've already spent a few hours on the track 👍

[EDIT]
New splits:

T1: 0'29.421
T2: 1'00.750

I can see 29.4 pretty regularly now, how to find anymore between there and T2 though
[/EDIT]

Argh....I need to work out this T1 Buisness. Some new splits for you Weary...

T1 - 29.492
T2 - 1'00.361

Well, I just spent about an hour-and-a-half practicing, and have new splits to post:

T1: 30.585 (0.706 sec faster)
T2: 1'03.110 (1.657 sec faster 👍)
END: (1.014 seconds faster)

I can't believe how much time I picked up between T1 and T2!! Over a second-and-a-half! Still nowhere near the 1'00 mark on T2 though, so I won't be threatening any Div 1 racers any time soon. :) Got no clue where I'm going to gain 3+ seconds between T1 and T2... But I can see easily another half-second on both, I think... It all depends on that hill+turn right before the tunnel -- EXTREMELY hard to make that both clean and fast!

And I've got to figure out that long round right-turn just before the bridge that's right before the start/finish line -- I keep losing time there, as evidenced by the fact that the difference between my old end time and my new end time is actually smaller than the difference between my old T2 time and my new T2 time... I just can't hit the right line consistently through that area -- I've done it once or twice, but can't seem to repeat it when I really need it...

If anyone has a "walkthrough" of this track that they'd like to post, I'd greatly appreciate it! ;)

*thinks to himself...he shouldn't have picked a fight with Casio this week*

Nice splits buddy, in fact quite probably out of my range, don't know how I could ever find 0.4 :boggled:

'Using 310 gears'

First corner, start out wide, you have to hit the apex for maximum speed through that corner (~120mph/192kmh). Then, Flat-Out for the next left-right.

The next right is blind, so it's a gamble on when to brake, personally I keep on full power and just left footbrake to slow me down slightly, you have to at least hit the inside right apex or you'll be in no position for the double left.

Brake just before the first left apex of the double left, down to 3rd, and accelerate over the next one.

For this pain in the arse uphill right, get over to the left of the track (But don't go stupid), and brake late (3rd gear again). If you brake early you just understeer into the wall, which isn't good for fast times.

Full power down the straight (duh:dunce:). For next double right, brake just before the first right apex and shift down to third. You have to try and hit the second of the right apex's or you will be in no position for the hairpin.

Stay tight in the hairpin, if you go outside the solid white line, you're too far out. Ideally, accelerate over the rumble strip on the inside of the end of the corner. (3rd gear for this too.)

Stay tight on the sweeping right. Brake around about where the brown cobblestone stuff ends. Change down to 4th. You have to get somewhere close to the left apex at the top of the hill. Still pull-power, you should be bouncing off the limiter, change up to 5th before you get to the down slope. Get close to the apex on the left, but not to close, as there seems to be a bump there which will probably send you into the wall and **** you up 3 times over.

Again, the next corner is blind, you have to brake before the peak of the crest, and turn in and hope you hit the right apex and not the wall. Keep it in 4th, keep it tight. If you try to take this flat-out, you'll end up in the beach, personally I left-foot brake just before the second apex to tighten my line.

All flat-out to the last hairpin, if you exited the last corner fast enough, you'll need 6th gear. Brake late, really late. You should end up about Two-Thirds to Three-Quarters of the way to the left wall. Using 3rd, just floor it and you'll get around fine if you get within 1.5 metres of the late right apex, any wider you'll have to back off slightly to stop a head on with a bridge pole.

And that's El Capitan :)

Finally got around to running, first session

29.738
1'01.537

I'm sure there's some left yet. Tomorrow if my Car Show gets rained out.

Argh....I need to work out this T1 Buisness. Some new splits for you Weary...

T1 - 29.492
T2 - 1'00.361

i read ur walkthrough and ur loosing substantial time by using 3rd gear for the left right directly b4 T1, stay in 4th and use 300 gears.

28.861
59.457

almost broke the second mark that i was near, but not to be, time submitted, used dfp, tried ds2 and it was faster from start to T1, but was too stupid at the critical uphill downhill section, dfp gives u slightly more control in the dip just b4 T2. and after T2 i stay in 4th for the right left left, and really maximize ur road usage for the double left, its insane how much time can be gained in this area if u nail it just right. for the last, i brake really ultra deep, and accelerate at 110ish in 4th, and focus on keeping the car smooth on exit to maximise exiting speed.

well i think the ntsc may have a slight atvantage as i never saw a .2xx T2 split (59.2xx) and only 1 59.3xx split, so most likely the ntsc stats give the car a slight edge in terms of hp, oh well. great combo none the less:tup:

Well, new splits...

T1 29.475
T2 1'00.088!!

Must've blazed the hill, but I really also must have REALLY sucked a$$ on the last sector because I only gained a tenth on my previous time...

Oh well, it'll look good on the leaderboard! :^)

am not clicking with this weeks WRS, can't build any decent rythym at all have some fairly good splits but i am a little disappointed i couldn't get this to go quicker...

T1: 29.349
T2: 1'00.210

TIME SUBMITTED

Well I was checking my replay when I realised I had come awfully close to the wall, so I checked in the data logger and sure enough there was a blip...therefore I had to go out and beat it. I was hoping I could have a decent crack at Casio's time but as suspected you is too fast son:

T1: 0'29.446
T2: 1'00.581

I did see a 1'00.3xx but I promptly had a brain fart on the next corner. T1 seems to be where I could pick up the most time but it's just so damn hard to get that blind right-hander before the checkpoint right.

This will likely be my submission but we'll see.

Board Updated

Them SR Tyres are slippy and even though i can hit T1; 29.2xx consistently, i can't seem to keep it up with loyal ds2... and my thumbs are killing me 👎 :yuck:

I'll submit my time but only bought maxdrive last night so won't be able to post replay :ouch: most definitely b DQ'd:guilty:

Still tis good to have sum times to benchmark one against.

Ltr:tup: 👍 👍

Don't sweat, Clemi. :)

Cyril is a reasonable man. If you already have bought the Maxdrive, he'll wait for it too arrive. 👍

You have 'till the deadline of the next race to submit your replay -- that's 8 or 9 days from now. So perhaps it will arrive before then.

Thanks for the "walkthrough" Casio (or would it be called a "drive through?" ;) ), and to Holl01 for pointing out a couple of ways to improve upon it.

I'll give it a go later today and see if I can't improve my times a good bit more...

If you ordered a Max Drive, we'll wait until it arrives before closing the results thread. Hopefully you can post it before April 18th, which is the normal deadline.

That's very generous, but not sure i'll make it (delivery 5 working days) :banghead:

If i dont make it theres always wrs52 to put some rubber down :dopey: , but to stay true i'll post replay before or after 18th.

Current splits still way down on sum racers but here goes..
T1; 29.230
T2; 1'00.545

BTW i've always wanted to buy logitech wheels&pedals, but will it improve my laptimes or just give my thumbs a rest

Making some decent progress since my last split post. Now, since it's such a nice day, time to go drive my real Z...

30.172
1'02.342

umm..first time to post my split time here

T1: 29.267
T2: 1'00.139
Controller: DS1 (use it since GT1)

anxiety makes me to brake a bit too much at the second left after T2...making me to lose about 0.2 second...but the end..there is still about 0.15 second of improvement over my last lap time...so i guess thats enough for now...maybe try a bit more later

Spent another hour or so practicing... I tried both 300 gears and 310... Finally went with the 310's, just to avoid the rev-limiter down the front-straight. Here are my new splits:

T1: 29.864 (0.721 sec faster)
T2: 1'02.691 (0.416 sec faster)
END: (0.731 sec faster -- broke the 1'3X.XXX barrier I was shooting for)

I can easily see shaving another .5 off of T1, if I can just nail the right-turn before the bridge at T1! And I can see taking another full second off of T2, if I can nail the hairpin and the uphill-sweeping-right and the tunnel. It's just a matter of whether or not I can make the car do what I know it's capable of doing... :dopey:

I'll give it some more time on Monday night... See if I can't get that T2 down to 1'01.XXX

Dayum. That's certainly flying for using an on-off switch for the throttle! Or do you use the right joystick for the throttle? And this is for you, who is a D2 driver, on RS, not RSS tires, correct?

i use on/off switch...i used to use (and will still use) the joystick back when i play GT1 and GT2 but since GT3...the game physics has change sooooooo much that i find using the buttons a bit faster in road courses...for rally (like week 49) stick is preferred cuz a bit more precise throttle control is needed

i also got a logitech formula force GP (computer version of the GT force but it works just well on ps2) back when i played battle gear 2 and initial D but i just cant get used to it for gran turismo

and to your second question...let me check..(checking)...590HP...RS/RS..yup..its correct...let me check if the lap is clean...yes it is

back to the game.....ummm.....T2 is pretty much done...T1 and the two lefts right after T2 mark can be improved...but to do them well altogether is hard...well..lets see

That's awesome man! VERY well done! I'm definitely amazed at the on off switch. So, do you tap it to simulate less throttle?

EDIT: Oh yeah, forgot to mention... After 3 hours in my JGTC car earlier this evening, I hopped into this car for a bit, and it's FAST!!! And there's no way I'm going to be able to touch the splits I got earlier this week. So, what you see on the leaderboard is going to be submitted right after I finish this post. Good luck to all those still pushing! 👍
