I did the GTi version too first. As it was the only one in the uber save and I assumed that was it.

However, you should have noticed, that not only did it not get to the correct power, it was about 100kg over the specified weight also.

Another positive from this week is it's forced me to go back to bumper view. I switched back to the trailing camera a few weeks back and wanted to get back into the bumper view and this week I have. Without it, it's hard to know exactly how close you can get to the walls :crazy:

Bumper View? It seems to me the best view for judging space is the cockpit view. It's more true to life. Bumper view makes me feel like a skeleton racer at the olympics.

I just got TT the other day and I can only seem to make sense out of the trailing camera view so I can see the dynamics of the bike. I think PD screwed up the cockpit view for TT...

I'm 100% bumper view. I just can't get a feel for the car with any other view. The roof cam view makes me feel funny :crazy: I would however like to see a genuine cockpit view for GT5 a la TOCA 3. I'm not sure it's feasable though; not with the sheer volume of cars expected :indiff:

First, perhaps last, and feeble splits. I feel like I'm down 50 hp to you guys! :^)

Though I'm only 100 miles or so in if that...

T1 25.163
T2 57.348

Sheesh...

Agreed! I just can't drive on anything other than "cockpit" view... I don't really call it cockpit view, though, since you really can't see the cockpit... I just call it the over-the-hood view... (Or over-the-bonnet, if you're English :) )

That is an insane lap, now the big question though, when are we gonna get Bathurst in Gran Turismo?

As for the camera view used, I find the "in car" view too high, I like to feel low to the ground or to see the whole car. During the week we drove the YellowBird, I couldn't use the bumper view, I had to see what the tail of the car was doing so I reverted to trailing cam :)

Board Updated

[EDIT]
Well after another session I may have reached my limit. This new lap includes my best T1 - T2 ever and one of my better T1's. I did lose 0.1 in the finish (a heartbreaking 0.1 :( ) because I took the last real corner of the track a bit cautiously but quite a satisfying lap all the same:

T1: 0'25.485
T2: 0'56.220

Pretty happy 👍

[/EDIT]

been spending way too much time in JGTC
check the leader board :scared:
sweet mother of..... :crazy:
haven't spent any time in the "wolf" :guilty:
time to get crackin' :nervous:

nice times being posted :cheers:

well i have a time im happy-ish with, lost .4 but its all i have time for. One small question though, if the wing mirror touches the wall does that count as dirty? It didnt affect speed or direction of the car in anyway, and is the only part touching. Also even if it did it would have slowed me down and therefore be no advantage what so ever. and as it was actualy in the wall, and not just touching it, then surely it doesnt matter if its in contact as it isnt recognised as a solid object?

hopefull splits
24.6 horrible time, lost .3
55.1 lost a further .1

EDIT: also my only other clean lap is 1.8 seconds behind!!! SO TAKE PITY!!

EDIT AGAIN: Cheers laurence 👍 i was hoping someone would say that :D. Its in the first sector, after exiting the second corner on the RIGHT hand side of the track. I shouldnt have even been anywhere near the wall realy, shame to loose the whole lap over such a stupid mistake.

On one of my earlier submissions, I mentioned that the mirror touched the wall, but the rest of the car did not, and there was no slow-down in the analyzer. The lap was accepted...

Time submitted with my current splits... :-\ I haven't had time to play between work, easter, friends and JGTC this weekend... Oh well!

Good luck to everyone still running!

Well guys I am pretty surprised of this! I was gone for the weekend and my splits weren't beaten by any other Div 3 drivers. :crazy: I don't know what it means with the lap times still to be known (and also that's it was Easter for several folks too), but I'd still call that surprising. :)

Well in my opinion your argument about it not helping you is invalid, if there is a downward spike in the analyzer, the lap is dirty regardless of whether it helped or hindered. But if, as you say, there is no spike in the data logger....then it would likely be the same outcome that it was for VTRacing during week 49.

But having said that, in the end it's up to Flat-out, but one thing you should be wary of is a blasé attitude, I think that would be a step in the wrong direction :) 👍

Steady on now :lol:

Talking of cockpit views check this nutter out who, if the title is accurate, learnt his 'psycho aggressive' racing technique from GT4. Look out for the yellow one (about 1min10 into it) that gets totally mugged by the camera car and the black one. :nervous:

Sorry for the off-topic, but Dean Evans didn't learn his skills from GT4.

He's an experienced racer here in Australia, who also happens to be a journalist for "Motor" magazine (some people have all the luck ;) )

He won the Mirage Cup a few years ago (one-make series in Mitsu Mirage Cyborgs) which was a hard-fought series. He's competed recently in the Mt Buller sprint, various Dutton rallies, and I believe he's having a run at Targa Tasmania next week.

Anyway, he's a good (and obviously aggressive) steerer, and he would definitely be a class above the average competitor in the Elise Trophy series. But his racing career started well before GT4.

Downward spike in the data logger:indiff:, then I think I have a problem:nervous:.
Because I did see a downward spike:ouch:, but I did not feel it in the car so I don't know.
I will just have to see what Flat-Out thinks I guess:nervous:.

Well, I didn't do any racing over the weekend... But that doesn't mean your splits are safe! :)

My new splits:
T1: 26.210
T2: 57.571

Took me about 300 miles to get a clean lap with those splits! I'd seen a T1 as fast as 25.2xx and a T2 as fast as 57.1xx, but never could get them together, and never in a clean lap... This one was VERY difficult, but a lot of fun!

Time submitted.

You know the trend each week seems to be, holl01 posts his initial splits, we all try in vain to chase them, and then at the death holl01 destroys his old splits and wipes the field away :crazy: you're a machine man. Nice work. Gonna have one last crack at this now with your new settings.

Concerning the mirrors or any other part that you might be tempted to smash into the walls, the key will be the data logger.
If there is a speed drop or a spike, then the lap will be considered dirty.

Just FYI :
Race rules :
Standard clean OLR rules :
  • 2 wheels on track at all time ;
  • rumble strips are part of the track ;
  • no contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible ;
  • if you're not 100% sure that your lap is clean, then consider it dirty ;
  • no hybrids ;
  • no cheating of any kind ;
  • nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules ;
  • save your replay ('save ghost' icon).

That is an insane lap, now the big question though, when are we gonna get Bathurst in Gran Turismo?
Insane lap indeed. Especially in the left/right/left/right undulating section where all other cars brake and the camera car passes them all.
Bathurst in GTx would be great indeed, but opponents who give way to faster cars and try to avoid contact (like they do in the vid) would be more than enough IMO. :lol:

sorry for my stupidity...but can holl01 simply resubmit his time to flat-out?...cuz to my knowledge you are only allowed to submit your time once...or are there any special situations where you can resubmit your time?

I think the general rule of thumb is not to resubmit every time you beat your lap and try to wait until the end of the week before you submit, but Cyril's pretty accomodating, if you really need to resubmit I'm sure he'll cut you some slack 👍

I'm submitting my lap now too, I tried your settings Dan and they made some areas easier but regardless of what setting I was using I couldn't break 25.7xx at T1. I must be doing something SERIOUSLY wrong, can't wait to see some laps.

When people submit before the week-end, I traditionally accept a second submission on the monday or tuesday. As long as it doesn't become a habit it's OK.
When everybody will be submitting twice every week, I'll stick to the one submission only rule.

haven't had anywhere near enough time on this weeks race, been out of town for most of it with the "better half", so i am submitting my half ass time and hoping to get more time in the next race...

TIME SUBMITTED

Had another session with this one. I tried Holl01's newer settings but I really didn't enjoy them at all. I was faster with my settings.

T1: 24.965
T2: 55.559

Time submitted. I loved this combo.

Thank you Flat_out. :bowdown:

Time in.

Not Happy. Awful Splits. Didn't break the barrier I wanted.

I'm going home.

Time sent -
26.020
58.610

Once again, a great shout out for Hol0 posting your set-up :cool:
You saved me a huge amount of time this week 👍 that went into JGTC.

What a great combo Cyril :D Even if my times aren't that quick, at least it's clean. I'll post the replay after results.

Loved the bonzai run down the hill in 5th :crazy:
The sudden stops from hitting a jutting edge made my head spin :lol:

Well, I didn't do any racing over the weekend... But that doesn't mean your splits are safe! :)

Just a bit of teasing, to keep competition between pals. :P Here are my final splits!

T1: 26.641
T2: 58.615

My smoothest lap by far. I used the road as much as possible in the last sector so I'm pretty excited to see if I gain any advantage there! :dopey:

As for holl01, let's pretend he's our 'Stig'. ;)

16 times submitted already, some really fast and some really slow. But the competition is tough anyway : only 0.001 between first and second fastest times in div2 :eek:

Umm, yeah, I really didn't feel this one. I'm a whole second off everyone else. I really don't care. I only put in about 30-40 laps. I had way to much work to give this one my all. (school and JGTC, plus a poem AND a film for an arts festival. I still have to get the music for the film done by Fri...:scared: )

Case in point, I sucked hardcore this week.👍 :dopey:
