I'm having a lot of trouble going straight, but a lot of fun drifting! :D

I've managed to pull some drifts so long and beautiful they almost made me cry...

This week should be a drift comp, not a laptime.

It's like tippy-toeing on ice out there!

:D

I'm at 15.923 and 36.253. Never really spent much time on here in the wet. Once against the Bentley in Mission Hall, I think, and that's it.

Holy spray-trails Phattman! Mr P is back! ;)

Don't have the right car for this week, even though it's a arcade race, so I'll be seeing you all next week for the multilapper hopefully....:nervous:

Have a fun race!

ah....thats unfortunate....but less competition for me!!
but it will still be tough..seems that clemi is doing pretty well in this one as well...and quite a few div 2 are joining too...so...we will see....have plenty of non-gt4 work to be done this week...so my progress in the weekdays will be slooooow....still getting used to the track...and figuring out different techniques for my mighty ds1!!

anyway.....lets see....will post time in the weekend

I do have to say that this week is more fun than last week:tup:, so here are my times.

T1-16:084(seen 15:5xx)
T2-36:702(seen 36:5xx)

And it's fun to drift the car:D, but I'm still having problems on the last corner:ouch:.

Cool combo again, cyril. Now I just have to figure out how to drive it! :dopey:

16.269
37.250

Nice combo, Cyril. 👍

My first session gave me a:

15.916
36.243

Edit: Thanks to StevenDeRuig for pointing out a typo in my splits. :)

in my case, in this week, the rule of thumb that you hit your best laptime after about 1-1,5 hrs of practice has proven itself.
so i'll submit my mediocre laptime to good old cyril and await next weeks challenge.
it's been fun! otherwise i only visit tsu/wet to see how i can win from faster cars and for some easy cash, but now i have learned more about car behaviour and cornering.

Couldn't resist the watersports race :sly: and also this combo is easy to get to your limit within a few sessions ... I have about .3 overall to hit my target and then I'll submit ... will be interesting to see how pathetic my sectors look against Dan and Curtis :nervous:

Board Updated

Sorry I took so long, my <expletive> computer has bit the <expletive> dust, stupid <expletive> piece of <expletive>!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've spent the last 24 hours downloading (or more precisely, battling to download) patches/updates/spyware removers/anti-virus software and only now is my computer even remotely useable...If I reboot it some <expletive> trojan starts unleashing mayhem on my system....sigh....I feel like I've been at a family member's death bed all day. On the plus side, I've needed an excuse to get a new PC for a while now, so today I went out (during one of the many system scans) and ordered one. But until mid next week I gotta persevere with this piece of <expletive>

...now that I've got that out of my system, ya'll can return to your regular viewing :indiff:

Sorry to hear about your PC MisterWeary! have you ever tried registry fix?

snap20ja.jpg

This program will clear most crap from your system with ease .. spyware / trojans / registry keys etc... I can vouch for its greatness  failing that you could go and get a free scan of your pc and removal if possible at http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/ActiveScan.htm

anyway .... just a quick post to let you know that I'm using DS2 and not DFP 👍

Hmmm...I haven't tried that, so I'll give that a crack...thanks Mr P 👍 Oh and I've changed the Leaderboard :)

Spent an hour practicing last night, still keep drifting wide in the first turn!!:dunce:

First session times,

T1 0'15.883
T2 0'36.662

I reckon I should be able to knock another few tenths off with a bit more paractice, I've seen a 15.6 in the first sector but got the last turn all crossed up (still trying to get optimum speed through that final turn :grumpy: ).

Must try harder!! (Looks like I'll be practicing this one all week and submitting a time at the last minute).

New splits:

15.945
36.276

shaved off .3

Is anyone talking about tires?

Mr P
I found using Soft tyres and TCS ON was best overall :)

That's what I am using! Good to know I'm not wasting time with harder tires... Now I wonder if the DS2 has an advantage this week?

Now I wonder if the DS2 has an advantage this week?

I'm using the DS2 (I'm assuming thats Dual Shock 2, sorry I'm new here :dunce: ), but then I can't get on with using the steering wheels, they don't feel right to me, too much real life competition driving.

Then again, I'm not doing that well with the DS2 either :grumpy: .

Mr P
I found using Soft tyres and TCS ON was best overall :)

I've tried it with aids off, TCS on, and TCS/ASM on. And with the three different grades of sports tires... Soft tires are definitely the best tires to use in my opinion...

But I still can't seem to get it to work without both the TCS and ASM on... A T2 of under 36-seconds just seems IMPOSSIBLE to me... I've got to be doing something wrong here...

The hardest part for me is that you can't HEAR the wheel-spin. There's no screeching sound like there normally is on a dry track... (I've never driven this track wet before -- didn't even know it was available 'till this week, so maybe that's my problem...)

Oh well -- off to get some more practice...

I feel like I'm ice skating. Nothing good or competitive out of me yet. I need to get on the ball though because I'm going out of town again. So far I've got a T2 of 37.2xx.

Well, I definitely did better in this session... :)

T1: 15.713
T2: 36.187

I can see another .3 or .4 between T2 and the end, I think... It's just a matter of getting that last, long corner exactly perfect...

I doubt I'll knock very much at all off of my T1 time, and T2 I might knock another .1 off, but I still doubt my ability to get a sub-36-second time there... MAYBE a 35.99x would be possible for me...

But these splits are definitely much better than the first ones I posted! 👍

Gotta get back to racing in the ARC so I had my final session at this and found some time on the last bend before the line ... slower sectors but a result all the same :)
15.509 / 35.411 ( seen 15.3's and 35.3's a few times but my nerves made them worthless :P )
Thanks for a cool combo Cyril 👍 ... Congrats to Dan in advance :sly:
Time Submitted
Laters all

Well I downloaded that registry fix program and it found 419 errors in my registry  only problem is it'll only fix 16 in the trial version...such is life, I've pretty much given up on this computer, it runs well enough to do basic things right now and I guess my new one is coming so I'll just persevere.

As for how I'm racing this week, I'm using no aids, and SS/SS, the last corner I got a slight drift happening which appears to have given me time not taken it (for a change). This is an interesting week because really there's only 5 corners in total and I'm pretty happy with how I took all but one on my lap, I don't know if I'm gonna find any more time this week but I might give it a crack with TCS 👍

Yeah you can. Listen for a hissing sound, that's the spray from the tires kicking up. Your revs will rise a tad faster as well, but if you experiment with it for a few seconds, you'll hear the sound I'm talking about.

Colby, mate!

The trail version will fix another 16 problems everytime you run it, persist and you will have the whole lot done soon enough.

Failing that, there is another program called Registry Mechanic which will fix the lot in one go (registry errors that is)
That's the one I use, periodically, and it's good! Also using Ad-aware will help remove all the leeches (trackers, trojans, keyloggers, etc)

When the new PC turns up.......

A very good idea is to keep your present PC, strip everything off it bar the HDD, a floppy drive, and a basic graphics card. Format the hard drive and install WinXP( or UNIX if you are feeling adventurous), and network the two PC's together.
Use your old one to access the net, more or less as a web-server.
Then you will have a hardware firewall, which will stop all the sh;t off the net getting onto your lovely shiny new PC.
Also it means that you can be downloading stuff AND playing games etc at the same time, because the web-server does the downloading not the main PC. Smart thinking Huh?

Just an idea, that works VERY well!

Oh and sorry for the OT guys.

Neil

sup, managed 15.362/35.092, time submitted

i avoided drifting on all corners, and used TCS, gear 2 for all hairpins, and tried to focus on smooth exit speed, that is the key to this combo- avoiding the tcs kicking in during the hairpins. cheers!

I think Cyril is trying to teach us about throttle control. Me thinks that he thinks that we don't know how to handle it. :sly:

New times:
T1: 0:15.824
T2: 0:36.332

Still a bit more in there when I get the apexes(sp) right.

Nice times Laurence5905. Before you know it, you'll be in Div2 battling with me again. 👍
