This is a C4 Corvette, remember. A 16 year-old model... The newer ones, especially the C6, are better handling... But they're still pretty heavy...

And this car doesn't handle badly, per se. It's heavy and imprecise, but if you know what you're doing you can make it slide around the corners pretty well, in my opinion... Plus, it's very predictable -- you know exactly when it's going to break loose, and it breaks loose in the same manner every time.
Well... For the 80s when it was introduced, the C4 was a little heavy, but the latest corvettes are around the same weight, if not a little less I think. Which in today's terms, is pretty lightweight for their size. I think that PD made this ZR1 a little softer than it is in real life, but whatever. It's probably porkier than it is in real life too. Kind of like how they made the Volvo 245GLT about 1.5 or more times heavier than it actually is.

Right back with new splits, chopped loads of time off last night,

T1 0'27.471
T2 103.597

I've been half a second quicker at the finish line than this lap but it turned out to be dirty, the replays are getting harder to check now, I've been hopping over a lot of kerbs. Good news on that front actually, looks like my max drives turned up,:D gotta go to the post office and pick it up now!

My quickest time so far...
T1 27.705
T2 1.04.034

It's really bugging me cos I keep going much faster in the 3rd sector and catching my ghost (but not passing it) but I can't beat this time as I hit the hairpin better than I have before or since. If only I could do it again I'm much quicker elsewhere now!!

Looking at the leader board it;s my 2nd sector that's holding me back - and that's down to the hairpin. Need to sort that out in tomorrow's session!!

New time after another half hour totaling about 2 hours thus far and I trimmed about .4 off my lap in the final sector alone 👍 but am still above 1:02 at T2 ARGH!!! I dunno what I'm missing there, must be that uphill turn I guess, prolly done for the week as I need to do some testing for the BC coming up ;)

T1 - 26.806
T2 - 1:02.143
Final - Nailed that part Gooooodddddd......:D
Alright Scott and Rob where u guys at?

I'm finally able to take a break from school work since I last raced back around week 20. I don't particularly like this car very much. It understeers like crazy when you put the power down. Here are my sector times after about an hour and a half of trying:

T1: 27.137 (Have seen 26.9xx)
T2: 1'02.767

I can't seem to gain much time in sector one or two but I have gotten smoother through the last few corners after T2. I'll keep trying though.

when frustration turned into anger and i just started pitching the car into corners and melting the tires... and my T1 times came down. *shrug*

T1: 26.693
T2: 1:01.766

unfortunately, i'll have to have another sesson tomorrow. After farther reveiw of the replay, there are two corners that are too close for my comfort.

I was hoping to get another half a second off my T2, I'd have been happy with just that but it seems getting my max drive has spurred me on a bit more than I expected,

T1 0'27.274
T2 1'02.812

Chewed off another .7 in T2 in a cloud of tyre smoke and another whole second off the total lap! I've been knocking off a second on each session so with two or three more evenings running time before we submit (I can usually get in a last minute session before the deadline,) I might be able to get in amongst the (lower) Div 1 times? :sly: Maybe even a Div 2 podium. 👍

Board Updated

I'm pretty close to done I think, the only place I'm gonna find time is in T1 and although I can do 26.5 - 26.6 it's very hard and I'm only hitting it 1 in 10 restarts, then of course there's the added pressure of perfecting the rest of the track

T1: 28.045
T2: 1'05.640

Getting small improvements over time, this week is quite a test of patience. But observing the car's behavior and anticipating its actions and reactions is part of the key. :)

at LAST i'm quicker than some other guys ...
28.653
1.05.502
so comeon mrweary change the board!
hope it stays or i'll have to dig in and improve again.

btw 1 i wonder why it is that somany members are playing these weeks. never seen such a list on the leaderboard in my time. great competing tho!

btw 2 could cyril make a little list of final submitting times for each world time sector? this could help members in knowing when to make a final submission.

Done :sly: 👍

As for times to submit, Cyril sometimes makes posts like this which hopefully helps people to submit at the right time

He does mostly. It's on the very first post.

deadline is tuesday 23rd may 9pm GMT (L.A. 1pm, New-York 4pm, London 10pm, Paris 11pm, Tokyo wed. 6am, Sydney wed. 8am).

Of course he's not going to write one for every time zone. But this covers pretty much all of the world.

Thanks Casio.
I must add that the deadline is always the same week after week.
So when you're living in Europe, chances are that you and me are in the same time zone (except UK, which is why I mention London in post #1), and then you just have to remember that the deadline is tuesday, 11pm.
I don't always have time to make posts like the one Colby links to, and I usually only do it when a few newly registered racers have joined the thread.

How can there only be 10 hours left before the deadline if the deadline is Tuesday - it's still only Sunday, right? I haven't missed work have I...!! :-)

26.453 (.386)
1'01.261

took another 0.2 off at the line, am a little frustrated with it at the moment, but still this has to be the best combo i have done since the CZ-3 Race car at grand valley...

First,

Britain is on GMT+1 (british summertime) at the mo, so you are right. Deadline in the UK is actually 10pm.

Second,
You go to the GTP Forums(look at the top of this page, the link's there in blue) and in the premium members forum is a thread where you post your name change. One of the Admin's will do the name change usually within a few hours!

To change your username you need to go into the GT Premium forum, there's a thread for name changing there...good work on going premium too 👍

The link I posted was an example of what Cyril has done in the past, it is not an announcement for the deadline of this race :sly: 👍

Now I've run out of time - I won't get a chance to play again before the deadline so my final splits are:
These are from my quickest overall lap but I've done the first two splits quicker than this (27.04 and 104.035 on different laps) but the rest of the lap wasn't as fast- I kept trying to put them all together and this is as close as I got.
T1 27.828
T2 104.223

I'll hold off on the PM till Tuesday just in case I get another chance

The linked post was belonging to last week's WRS thread. ;)

to dbt and mrw i say thanks for the help on the premium thread. i'll be bigracer as soon as they processed my request.

Looking at the leaderboard, I guess it's a race for 2nd in Div.3. Good splits Drifting 4 Ever:tup:

@darkblue: hey man, I hope you get some more time to race because:
T1: 0'27.352
T2: 1'04.245 (+.022 off darkblue)
And a strong finish, too, I think.

Woohoo!!! Finished all my work (apart from exams) so I thought I'd treat myself to a WRS.

Best I can muster so far:

T1 - 27.112
T2 - 1,02.805

Dunno where I'm going wrong though because that's the absolute best I can do... I'm out of practice :guilty:

Ah Filizola - I'm out after work tomorrow night so I'll try to get in a quick couple of laps before posting my times Tuesday night if I can... I'll keep an eye on here though to make sure you don't get too much faster and take 2nd place.

This is of course assuming the 3rd sector's are similar... Mine's really good now - as I say, fastest overall time with slower 1st and 2nd splits. I just need one lap for it to all fit together... Good luck!! :)

No worries StevendeRuig... 👍

Drifting4Eva - I second Filizola's comments. Awesome times - you'll be promoted to Div 2 soon with performances like that, surely... :)

wow... got it really "hooked-up" today and smashed my questionable time into ashes... was turning really quick and reliable laps all day, then got everything right once and killed my ghost by > 1/2 second.

splits were:
26.632
1'01.488
